Geochemistry and hydrocarbon source rock potential of shales from the Palaeo-Mesoproterozoic Vindhyan Supergroup, central India

With increase in shale gas exploration, inorganic and organic geochemical investigations of shale have become extremely important. Here, we explore the six argillaceous (shale) intervals (Arangi, Koldaha, Rampur, Bijaygarh, Rewa and Sirbu shale) from Son valley sector, Vindhyan Basin with an aim to understand provenance conditions, palaeoclimate, tectonic setting and hydrocarbon generation potential. Whole rock geochemistry indicates Vindhyan sediments derived from felsic source(s) except for Sirbu shale that indicates additional influx of mafic rocks with differentiated felsic source. A comparative study of Vindhyan shale rare earth elements (REEs) points to Mahakoshals and Chhotanagpur gneissic complex (CGC) as probable sediment provenance for Vindhyan sediments. CIA analysis, after necessary corrections for K-metasomatism, suggests evolution in weathering and palaeoclimate indicating a transformation from moderate weathering conditions with warm and humid climate during lower Vindhyan deposition to intense weathering conditions with hot and humid climate during upper Vindhyan deposition. Trace (La/Y vs. Sc/Cr) and REE analysis indicates passive margin setting for Vindhyan sediments whereas a wide range spanning passive to active continental margin setting is also inferred using (Th-Sc-Zr/10) and (Th–La-Sc) ternary diagrams. However, these tectonic discriminant diagrams lack in explaining rift- or sag-related origin of any intracratonic basin such as the Vindhyan Basin. The total organic carbon (TOC) content in Vindhyan shales ranges from 0.29% to 8.44%. The thermally liberated hydrocarbon (S1) values range from 0.01 to 0.18 mg HC/g rock (milligram hydrocarbon per gram of rock sample), whereas hydrocarbon from cracking of the kerogen (S2) shows values ranging from 0.04 to 0.47 mg HC/g rock. Thermodynamic properties and phase diagram of quark matter within non-extensive Polyakov chiral SU(3)quark mean field model

In the present study,we applied Tsallis non-extensive statistics to investigate the thermodynamic properties and phase diagram of quark matter in the Polyakov chiral SU(3)quark mean field *** this model,the properties of the quark matter were modified through the scalar fieldsσ,ζ,δ,χ,vector fieldsω,ρ,ϕ,and Polyakov fieldsΦandΦ¯at finite temperature and chemical ***-extensive effects were introduced through a dimensionless parameter q,and the results were compared to those of the extensive case(q→1).In the non-extensive case,the exponential in the Fermi-Dirac(FD)function was modified to a q-exponential *** influence of the q parameter on the thermodynamic properties,pressure,energy,and entropy density,as well as trace anomaly,was *** speed of sound and specific heat with non-extensive effects were also ***,the effect of non-extensivity on the deconfinement phase transition as well as the chiral phase transition of u,d,and s quarks was *** found that the critical end point(CEP),which defines the point in the(T−μ)phase diagram where the order of the phase transition changes,shifts to a lower value of temperature,TCEP,and a higher value of chemical potential,μCEP,as the non-extensivity is increased,that is,q>1.

A Systematic Review to Explore the Factors Related to Parent to Child Transmission of HIV, Survival and Treatment Provision of Children with HIV in India

Introduction: There are a multitude of factors that impact the transmission of HIV from parent to child and the subsequent survival of infected children. Changing dynamics in HIV transmission have led to an increase in the number of children living with HIV in India. This review synthesizes the evidence related to transmission of HIV to children, survival and treatment provision among children living with HIV. Methods: A systematic search was conducted in MEDLINE, IndMed, Web of Science, Google Scholar and major journals related to HIV/AIDS to identify relevant studies published between 1992 and 2015. Inclusion criteria included studies related to parent to child transmission of HIV, treatment of children living with HIV and survival of children living with HIV. One of the authors reviewed the studies and extracted the data in a pre-coded extraction sheet. Results: Thirty-three studies were included in the review. HIV transmission rate from parent to Child who received nevirapine prophylaxis ranged from 2.1% to 27.3%. Extended dose regimen of nevirapine prophylaxis was found to be more effective than the single dose regimen. Adherence to ART ranged from 65% to 95%. Adherence varied depending upon the level of health care facility. Both social and medical factors were associated with non-adherence. CD 4 count at the time of diagnosis and delayed age at HIV diagnosis were important predictors of survival. Conclusion: Shift in policy to provide option B regimen is yielding better results. If the age at diagnosis could be reduced further, it would increase the survival of children living with HIV. The program needs to increase access to the health care facilities.

Simultaneous inversion of permeability,skin and boundary from pressure transient test data in three-dimensional single well reservoir model

This study presents a novel approach for simultaneous inversion of the key reservoir parameters like horizontal permeability,vertical permeability,skin,and boundary distances for spatial distribution across the grid cells in a 3D single well reservoir model(SWRM).These parameters are first estimated from the standard pressure transient analysis of well test pressure and rate data,which also act as a priori for the inverse problem.A field-worthy layer cake geological model is prepared based on the prior information obtained from pressure transient analysis,followed by a sequential flow simulation of field well test *** simulation results provide the model pressure versus rate data as the synthetic data for this study.A cost function is defined incorporating the well test pressure data and model pressure data,which would determine the *** inversion process is to optimize the spatial distribution of reservoir parameters to minimize the difference between the measured pressure transient data and the modelled one,which is obtained from the multiphase fluid flow simulator that solves the implicit black-oil fluid-flow diffusivity equations at every step.A Gauss-Newton(GN)inversion scheme is used for the *** reliability of inversion results depends on the accuracy of priori reservoir parameters fed to the solver,which can be refined if required through uncertainty parameter optimization(UPO).This approach helps to obtain a faster and reliable update of reservoir parameters in a layer cake homogeneous geomodel,hereby introducing the required *** increases the confidence and reliability of a geomodel,which is further used for various production prediction strategies.

Several popular time-frequency techniques,including the Wigner-Ville distribution,smoothed pseudo-Wigner-Ville distribution,wavelet transform,synchrosqueezing transform,Hilbert-Huang transform,and Gabor-Wigner transform,are investigated to determine how well they can identify damage to *** this work,a synchroextracting transform(SET)based on the short-time Fourier transform is proposed for estimating post-earthquake structural *** performance of SET for artificially generated signals and actual earthquake signals is examined with existing *** other tested techniques,SET improves frequency resolution to a great extent by lowering the influence of smearing along the time-frequency ***,interpretation and readability with the proposed method are improved,and small changes in the time-varying frequency characteristics of the damaged buildings are easily detected through the SET method.

Application of Response Surface Methodology for Analysing and Optimizing the Finned Solar Air Heater

In this research paper,a solar air heater with triangular fins has been experimentally analysed and ***,an experimental set-up of a solar air heater having triangular fins has been developed at the location of 28.10°N,78.23°*** heat transfer rate through fins and fins efficiency has been determined by the Finite Difference Method model *** experimental data and modeled data of response parameters have been optimized in MINITAB-17 software by the Response Surface Methodology *** creating the response surface design,three input parameters have been selected namely solar intensity,Reynolds number,and fin base-to-height *** range of solar intensity,Reynolds number,and fin base-to-height ratio is 600 to 1000W/m^(2),4000 to 6000,and 0.4 to 0.8 *** response surface design has been analyzed by calculating the outlet temperature,friction factor,Nusselt number,fin efficiency,thermal performance factor,and exergy *** optimum settings of input parameters:solar intensity is 1000 W/m^(2);Reynolds number is 4969.7,and the fin base to height ratio is 0.6060,on which these response:namely outlet temperature of 92.531℃,friction factor of 0.2350,Nusselt number of 127.761,thermal efficiency of 50.836%,thermal performance factor of 1.4947,and exergy efficiency of 8.762%.

This work aims to present and explore thermal management techniques for the wire arc additive manufacturing(WAAM)of IN718 *** heat can be mitigated via air or water *** this study,the material was deposited under four different heat-input conditions with air or water *** air cooling,the layer is deposited in a normal atmospheric air environment,whereas with water cooling,the material is deposited inside a water tank by varying the water *** validate the air and water cooling thermal management techniques,IN718 single-pass and multilayer linear walls were deposited using the bidirectional gas metal arc welding based WAAM setup under four different heat input *** the deposition of single layers,the temperature profiles were recorded,and the geometric and microstructural features were *** multilayer wall structures,the mechanical properties(hardness,tensile strength,and elongation)were determined and assessed using the corresponding microstructural features explored through scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS),and electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD)*** microstructure observed through SEM analysis in the building direction was found to be nonhomogenous compared with that in the deposition ***,water cooling was found to govern bead characteristics,such as wall width and *** grain size and anisotropy of the mechanical properties also decreased in the water-cooled ***,water cooling is an economical and efficient method to mitigate excessive heat accumulation in WAAM-deposited IN718.

A comprehensive review on pharmacognosy, phytochemistry and pharmacological activities of 8 potent Prunus species of southeast Asia

Genus Prunus comprising around 430 species is a vast important genus of family Rosaceae, subfamily amygdalaoidae. Among all 430 species, around 19 important species are commonly found in Indian subcontinent due to their broad nutritional and economic importance. Some most common species of genus Prunus are Prunus amygdalus, Prunus persica, Prunus armeniaca, Prunus avium, Prunus cerasus, Prunus cerasoides, Prunus domestica, Prunus mahaleb, etc. A newly introduced species of Prunus i.e Prunus sunhangii is recently discovered which is morphologically very similar to Prunus cerasoides. Plants of Prunus species are short to medium-sized deciduous trees mainly found in the northern hemisphere. In India and its subcontinent,it extends from the Himalayas to Sikkim, Meghalaya,Bhutan, Myanmar etc. Different Prunus species have been extensively studied for their morphological,microscopic, pharmacological and phytoconstituents characteristics. Total phenolic content of Prunus species explains the presence of phenols in high quantity and pharmacological activity due to phenols. Phytochemical screening of species of genus Prunus shows the presence of wide phytoconstituents which contributes in their pharmacological significance and reveals the therapeutic potential and traditional medicinal significance of this genus. Genus Prunus showed a potent antioxidant activity analyzed by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl radical assay. Plant species belonging to the genus Prunus is widely used traditionally for the treatment of various disorders. Some specific Prunus species possess potent anticancer, anti-inflammatory,hypoglycemic etc. activity which makes the genus more interesting for further research and findings. This review is an attempt to summarize the comprehensive study of Prunus species from its distribution, morphological characters to phytoconstituents, and pharmacological activity.

Relay coordination is crucial in electrical power systems to protect against malfunctions and damage caused by unexpected events like short *** address the challenge associated with the reverse direction of fault current,dual-setting(DS)directional over-current relays have evolved but failed to provide proper coordination during changes of load,generation,and *** the meantime,with the increasing number of DS relays,the total relay operating time tends to ***,this paper proposes a protection scheme based on the optimal deployment of conventional and dual-setting rate of change of voltage(DS-ROCOV)relays in distribution *** holds true for varying network topologies and is unaffected by variations in load and *** objective of the proposed scheme is to ensure reliable and efficient protection against faults in distribution systems by minimizing the overall operating time with the optimal number of DS-ROCOV *** proposed protection scheme’s performance is evaluated for different coordination time interval values as well as in different microgrid *** paper outlines the design and implementation of the proposed protection scheme which is validated on the modified IEEE 14-bus system using simulations in Matlab/Simulink.
