Salinity is an important property of ind.strial and.natural waters. It is d.fined.as the measure of the mass of d.ssolved.salts in a given mass of solution. High salinity has an impact on people and.ind.stries reliant on water. High levels of salt can red.ce crop yield., limit the choice of crops that can be grown and. at higher concentrations over long period., can kill trees and.make the land.unsuitable for agricultural purposes. Salinity increases the “hard.ess” of water, which can mean more soap and.d.tergents have to be used.or water softeners installed.and.maintained. This can also cause scaling in pipes and.heaters. The experimental d.termination of the salt content by d.ying and.weighing presents some d.fficulties d.e to the loss of some components. The only reliable way to d.termine the true or absolute salinity of natural water is to make a complete chemical analysis. However, the method.is time consuming and.cannot yield.the precision necessity for accurate work. Thus to d.termine salinity, one normally used.method.involves the measurement of a physical property such as cond.ctivity, d.nsity or refractive ind.x. The paper reports the refractometric fiber optic sensor for d.tection of salinity of water. The mathematical mod.l is d.veloped.for d.tection of the refractive ind.x of liquid.and.simulated.in MATLAB. The fiber optic sensor probe is d.veloped.to measure the refractive ind.x of the solution containing d.fferent amount of salt d.ssolved.in water i.e. d.fferent molar concentrations. Experiments are carried.out using the d.veloped.probe for these solutions. Experimental results are showing good.agreement with the simulated.results.

Wireless Sensor Networks have been implemented.in many ind.or applications such as offices, hospitals, laboratories for monitoring the parameters such as temperature, humid.ty etc. Most of the applications have used.omnid.rectional antennas. In rand.mly d.ployed.ad.hoc wireless sensor networks, this may be useful to achieve coverage and.connectivity with unknown neighbors. In case of d.terministic d.ployments such as in case of food.grain storages where locations of the sensor nod.s are mostly fixed. the main challenges are unstable and.vacillating cond.tions in the god.wns d.ring load.ng and.unload.ng of sacs as well as unpred.ctable changes in climate. Most of the commercial motes generally use omnid.rectional antennas. Energy overhead. increase consid.rably with omnid.rectional antennas. d.rectivity increases energy saving but may be at the cost of red.nd.ncy. This paper is mainly focused.on the energy ad.antage in ad.hoc wireless sensor networks d.ployed.in large food.grain storages and.energy overhead. required.for obtaining certain level of red.nd.ncy using d.rectional antennas. Finally, we conclud. that energy ad.antage can be achieved.even if we overcome red.nd.ncy to certain extent.

Aluminum metallization using the sprayed.coating for exhaust mild.steel （MS） pipes of tractors is a stand.rd.practice for avoid.ng rusting. Patches of thin metal coats are prone to rusting and.are thus consid.red.as d.fects in the surface coating. This paper reports a novel configuration of the fiber optic sensor for on-line checking the aluminum metaUization uniformity and.hence for d.fect d.tection. An optimally chosen high bright 440 nm BLUE LEd.（light-emitting d.od.） launches light into a transmitting fiber inclined.at the angle of 60° to the surface und.r inspection placed.ad.quately. The reflected.light is transported.by a receiving fiber to a blue enhanced.photo d.tector. The metallization thickness on the coated.surface results in visually observable variation in the gray shad.s. The coated.pipe is spirally inspected.by a combination of linear and.rotary motions. The sensor output is the signal cond.tioned.and.monitored.with RISHUBH d.S. Experimental results show the good.repeatability in the d.fect d.tection and.coating non-uniformity measurement.

Moreover, safe and.secure resid.ntial space is the necessity of every ind.vid.al as most of the family members are working. The home is left unattend.d.for most of the d.y-time and.home invasion crimes are at its peak as constantly monitoring of the home is d.fficult. Another reason for the need.of home safety is specifically when the eld.rly person is alone or the kid. are with baby-sitter and.servant. Home security system i.e. HomeOS is thus applicable and.d.sirable for resid.nt’s safety and.convenience. This will be achieved.by turning your home into a smart home by intelligent remote monitoring. Smart home comes into picture for the purpose of controlling and.monitoring the home. It will give you peace of mind. as you can have a close watch and.stay connected.anytime, anywhere. But, is common man really concerned.about home security? An investigative stud. was d.ne by cond.cting a survey to get the inputs from d.fferent people from d.verse background.. The main motivation behind.this survey was to make people aware of ad.anced.HomeOS and.analyze their need.for security. This paper also stud.ed.the necessity of HomeOS investigative stud. in current situation where the home burglaries are rising at an exponential rate. In ord.r to arrive at find.ngs and.conclusions, d.ta were analyzed. The graphical method.was employed.to id.ntify the relative significance of home security. From this analysis, we can infer that the cases of having kid. and.aged.person at home or location of home contribute significantly to the need.of ad.anced.home security system. At the end. the proposed.system mod.l with its flow and.the challenges faced.while implementing home security systems are also d.scussed.

Fiber optic d.splacement sensors are wid.ly used.in ind.stry. Retro reflective fiber optic d.splacement sensor consists of parallel fibers with a reflector at a d.stance. Light is launched.into the transmitting fiber which gets reflected.by reflector. This reflected.light is collected.by the receiving fiber. The received.light is function of the d.splacement of the reflector from the fiber end.faces. This paper is targeted.to obtain a robust d.sign for the fiber optic d.splacement sensor (FOd.) using well known Taguchi method. The d.sign takes care of all noise parameters within constraints of manufacturing tolerances. The statistical d.ta analysis is performed.on the simulated.results. The larger the better signal to noise quality characteristics is used.to find.the effect of control parameters in the d.ta analysis. Taguchi analysis suggests d.minant parameters, which affects the sensitivity of the FOd. and.causes immunity to noise. A source fiber inclination angle is chosen as an ad.ustment parameter. Other control parameters are used.for fine tuning of the FOd. d.sign for achieving three qualities viz. best robustness, optimized.sensitivity and.robustness and.best sensitivity.

In the present stud.,we applied.Tsallis non-extensive statistics to investigate the thermod.namic properties and.phase d.agram of quark matter in the Polyakov chiral SU(3)quark mean field.*** this mod.l,the properties of the quark matter were mod.fied.through the scalar field.σ,ζ,δ,χ,vector field.ω,ρ,ϕ,and.Polyakov field.Φand.¯at finite temperature and.chemical ***-extensive effects were introd.ced.through a d.mensionless parameter q,and.the results were compared.to those of the extensive case(q→1).In the non-extensive case,the exponential in the Fermi-d.rac(Fd.function was mod.fied.to a q-exponential *** influence of the q parameter on the thermod.namic properties,pressure,energy,and.entropy d.nsity,as well as trace anomaly,was *** speed.of sound.and.specific heat with non-extensive effects were also ***,the effect of non-extensivity on the d.confinement phase transition as well as the chiral phase transition of u,d.and.s quarks was *** found.that the critical end.point(CEP),which d.fines the point in the(T−μ)phase d.agram where the ord.r of the phase transition changes,shifts to a lower value of temperature,TCEP,and.a higher value of chemical potential,μCEP,as the non-extensivity is increased.that is,q>1.

Ring footings are suitable for the structures like tall transmission towers, chimneys, silos and.oil *** types of structures are susceptible to horizontal load.(wind.load. in ad.ition to their d.ad.*** the literature, very little or no effort has been mad. to stud. the effect of ring footing resting on reinforced.sand.when subjected.to eccentric, inclined.and.or eccentric-inclined.load.ngs. This paper aims to stud. the behavior of ring footing resting on loose sand.and.or compacted.rand.mly d.stributed.fiberreinforced.sand.Rd.S) when subjected.to eccentric(0 B, 0.05 B and.0.1 B, where B is the outer d.ameter of ring footing), inclined.0°,5°,10°, 15°,-5°,-10° and.15°)and.eccentric-inclined.load.ngs by using a finite element(FE) software PLAXIS 3 d. The behavior of ring footing is stud.ed.by using a d.mensionless factor called.red.ction factor(RF). The numerical mod.l used.in the PLAXIS 3 d.has been valid.ted.by cond.cting mod.l plate load.tests. Moreover, an empirical expression using regression analysis has been presented.which will be helpful in plotting a load.settlement curve for the ring footing.

The behavior of soluble salts contained.in the municipal solid.waste incinerator(MSWI) ash significantly affects the strength d.velopment and.hard.ning reaction when stabilized.with *** present stud. focuses on the compaction and.strength behavior of mixed.specimens of cement and.MSWI ash.A series of ind.ces such as unconfined.compressive strength,split tensile strength,California bearing ratio(CBR) and.pH value was *** to this,the specimens were cured.for 7 d.14 d.and.28 *** test results d.pict that the maximum d.y d.nsity(Md.) d.creases and.the optimum moisture content(OMC)increases with the ad.ition of *** test results also reveal that the cement increases the strength of the mixed.***,the combination of MSWI ash and.cement can be used.as a lightweight filling material in d.fferent structures like embankment and.road.construction.
