Tissue-specific trace elements concentration and human health risk assessment in three marine fish species from Visakhapatnam to Kakinada coasts

Purpose The current study was aimed to evaluate the bioaccumulation of elements(As,Cd,Cu,Fe,Mn,Se and Zn)in the gills,liver and muscle of three distinct marine fish species,namely Nemipterus japonicas,Upeneus vittatus and Pampus argenteus species were collected from Visakhapatnam to Kakinada coastal *** The fish tissues were analyzed for trace metals using energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence(EDXRF).To ensure the quality control,reliability of the experimental validation,two certified reference materials(CRMs)procured from National Institute of Standards and Testing(NIST SRM 1577c-Bovine Liver)and European Commission-Joint Research Centre,Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements(ERMBB422-Fish muscle)were analyzed using *** The evaluated estimated daily intake(EDI)values for each metal are below the reference dose levels established by World Health Organisation(WHO).The target hazard quotient(THQ)values of both the locations of the present study are lower than one(1)showing the presence of health *** cancer risk(CR)factor value for arsenic was below the acceptable lifetime carcinogenic risk(10^(–5)).The levels of heavy metals varied significantly among three fish species and *** mean concentrations of As,Cd,Cu,Fe,Mn,Se and Zn were slightly higher than the Ministry of Agriculture,Fisheries and Food(MAFF),Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO),Turkish food codex and Brazilian Legislation standard *** findings of this study revealed that muscles possessed the lowest concentrations mostly of all the metals when compared with liver and *** The study concluded that consumption of the muscle tissue may not pose severe health risk to human health but should be consumed moderately to prevent bioaccumulation of the metals especially As.

Role of Ultrasonography in Evaluation of Peripheral Nerves

Ultrasonography is first line, cost-effective modality in imaging of peripheral nerves. High frequency probes allow high resolution imaging of peripheral nerves located at relatively superficial location. USG can diagnose and localize various pathologies that involve the peripheral nerves such as traumatic, inflammatory, infective, neoplastic, and traumatic neuropathies. USG exceptionally has an important role to play in evaluation of patients with suspected nerve injury, as MRI may not differentiate neural contusion from nerve disruption. Neurapraxic injury is seen as swollen nerve with hypoechoic appearance.

Remote sensing classification of western Sierra Leone using landsat TM and ETM+

The study examines the changes of land cover/use resources for the period under *** unsupervised vegetation classification is being performed that provides five distinctive classes and thus assesses these changes in five broad land cover classes-high/moist forests,forest regrowth,mixed savanna,bare land/ grass and *** remote sensing images used in this work are both images of TM and ETM+in different time periods(1986 to 2001)to determine land cover/use changes.A fairly accuracy report is recorded after performing the unsupervised classification,which shows vegetation has been depleted for over the *** created are mostly human and to a lesser extent *** activities are mainly encroachment thus altering the landscape through activities such as population growth,agriculture,settlements,*** environment due to some perceive climatic *** vegetation classification highlights the importance to acquire and publish information about the country's partial vegetation cover and vegetation change including vegetation maps and other basic vegetation influencing factors,leading to an understanding of its evolution for a period.

Exploring the bioactive potential of Serriatia marcescens VITAPI （Acc： 1933637） isolated from soil

BACKGROUND： Serratia is one of the most important groups of bacteria which produces proteolytic enzymes effectively and known to possess anti-inflammatory properties. The main focus of the current study was to extract the enzyme serratiopeptidase and pigment prodigiosin from Serratia mascescens. Prodigiosin is a red colored pigment produced by the bacterium Serratia marcescens. It is emerging as a valuable molecule because of its large applications. It has already been proved that pigmented strain of Serratia marcescens is less virulent than non-pigmented strains. Moreover the strain we have obtained is from farm soil which indicates that prodigiosin production can be carded safely using this strain. METHODS： In the present study, the isolate VITASP strain was confirmed by morphological, biochemical and molecular studies. The enzyme and pigment were analyzed for anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and cytotoxic properties. RESULTS： The isolate was further confirmed and identified as Serratia marcescens with 99% similarity. The extracted pigment showed potent radical scavenging effect with 86% and the enzyme was found to inhibit 83%, which was significant in comparison to ascorbic acid standard. The in vitro anti-inflammatory effect of pigment in controlled experimental conditions revealed its protection at 88% and the enzyme with 90%. Aspirin was used as the reference drug. The present findings exhibited a concentration dependent inhibition. The cytotoxic bioassay of pigment showed the IC5o value as （50） ~tg/mL with 63% cytotoxicity which was statistically significant compared to positive control. CONCLUSIONS： Therefore, it appears to be an essential remedial and application research. It may turn out to be highly beneficial to mankind in solving many problems associated with human health.

Focal liver lesions:Practical magnetic resonance imaging approach

With the widespread of cross-sectional imaging, a growth of incidentally detected focal liver lesions(FLL) has been observed. A reliable detection and characterization of FLL is critical for optimal patient management. Maximizing accuracy of imaging in the context of FLL is paramount in avoiding unnecessary biopsies, which may result in post-procedural complications. A tremendous development of new imaging techniques has taken place during these last years. Nowadays, Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) plays a key role in management of liver lesions, using a radiation-free technique and a safe contrast agent profile. MRI plays a key role in the non-invasive correct characterization of FLL. MRI is capable of providing comprehensive and highly accurate diagnostic information, with the additional advantage of lack of harmful ionizing radiation. These properties make MRI the mainstay for the noninvasive evaluation of focal liver lesions. In this paper we review the state-of-the-art MRI liver protocol, briefly discussing different sequence types, the unique characteristics of imaging non-cooperative patients and discuss the role of hepatocyte-specific contrast agents. A review of the imaging features of the most common benign and malignant FLL is presented, supplemented by a schematic representation of a simplistic practical approach on MRI.

Wood Density of Ten Native Trees and Shrubs and Its Possible Relation with a Few Wood Chemical Compositions

The present study was undertaken in Forest Science Faculty, Universidad de Nuevo Leon, Mexico on variability of Wood density and its possible relation to few wood chemical composition and wood fiber cell structure anatomy. The results reveal that among 10 specie studied, there exist a large variation in wood density (0.51 to 1.09), and few wood chemical composition such % carbón (37.14 to 44.07), nitrogen (9.18 to 19.22), sulphur (31.45 to 33/82), lignin (15/28 to 24.35), hemicellulose (19.94 to 27.36%), and % cellulose (33.69 to 45.92). In general, though there was no clear relationship between wood density and other chemical composition of wood. It was observed that the species having moderate to high wood density contained >40% carbón, >30% sulphur and >40% cellulose and more or less 20% lignin. It seems that carbón, sulphur, cellulose and lignin content contribute to greater density. The wood fiber cell with wall lignification seems to be related to higher wood density.

挥发性气体(VOC)热氧化处理为高耗能过程,需利用热回收或热再生作为节能手段。作者以热回收因子(heat recovery factor,HRF)、设备价格因子(equipment cost factor,ECF)两个独立参数,分别分析了能源效率及投资回收,讨论了挥发性气体(VOC)热氧化处理设计的重要影响因子。利用能源回收成本比(equipment cost against heat recovery),以一工业实例,分析了不同设计情境下系统的比较优势。复热型和再生型热氧化系统也在文中作了比较,复热型有较低的ECF,而再热型则有较高之HRF;然而,当以能源回收成本作比较时,热再生型在使用周期较长时,具有经济方面的优势。所呈现的分析模型亦可用于类似的环保系统。

以客户为导向的创新方法在当今商业环境中扮演的角色越来越重要。电信服务提供商可以通过采取具体的创新方法与有效的战略方针,从而更好的提升市场竞争力。创新战略和以客户为导向的方法让企业更好的提升客户满意度。然而客户满意度并不是那么容易完成的一项任务,它需要创新和有效的战略管理技巧。多米尼加的Digicel和Flow公司一直为客户提供电信服务,但他们在提升市场竞争力和为客户满意度体验等方面面临着很大的挑战。本研究从电信客户的角度分析与创新、以客户为导向的方法去提高市场竞争力,本研究试图评估变量之间的关系,以及一个变量是如何影响或又是怎么影响另一个变量。这项研究是使用定量研究方法进行的,因为它涉及使用在线调查的方法从现有客户中收集信息。人口是多米尼加的电信用户,抽样为230名受访者。调查表是使用在线调查网站分发与收集的。然后通过回归模型和假设检验对数据进行实证分析。以前的文献为评估数据提供了理论立场和方向。尽管管理者对客户满意度的投入相当高,但这些努力的结果主要取决于使用回归审核模型测试的客户。本研究的创新是指电信公司采用的新产品和优质的服务作为提升竞争力的战略和最大化的满足客户需求。回归分析显示创新与竞争力之间的统计学显著关系。虽然以客户为导向的创新竞争力之间存在着适度的相关性,但公司采用的创新水平在一定程度上提升了公司的竞争力。根据研究结果,提出了意见和建议,希望协助电信公司提高竞争力和客户满意度。这项研究呼吁公司应高度关注客户,并确保通过实施有效的战略满足他们的需求。创新战略的实施应达到能够带来客户满意度的改善,从而获得公司获得竞争优势的更好机会。满意客户的需求和良好的客户关系可以创造长期的忠诚客户。

Qualitative and Quantitative Characterization of Wood Fibers of Shrubs and Tree Species of the Tamaulipan Thorn Scrub, Northeastern Mexico and Its Possible Relation to Wood Quality and Utilization

The present study was undertaken to determine the variability in fiber cell morphology and its length among wood species of the Tamaulipan Thorn Scrub, Northeastern Mexico, used for various uses such as timber for furniture, fence, post, firewood and sources of forage. The results reveal large variability in fiber cell morphology and fiber cell dimensions. The species are classified on the basis of its fiber cell morphology and fiber cell length and recommended for their possible utilization for different purposes. Wood having fibre cells with broad lumen and thin wall could be suitable for the manufacture of paper documented in the literature viz. Acacia farnesciana, Caesalpinia mexicana, Cordia boisiieri, Diospyros palmeri, Forestieria angustifolia, Morus celtifolia, Prosopis laevigata. This technique can be used in preliminary screening of woody species for its utilization for different purposes. Further studies are needed to confirm.
