Induced Accumulation of Polyphenolics and Flavonoids in Cyanobacteria under Salt Stress Protects Organisms through Enhanced Antioxidant Activity

Induced accumulation of polyphenolics and flavonoids in cyanobacterial strains grown under different salt concentrations is correlated with their growth under stress conditions and enhanced antioxidant activity. Plectonema boryanum, Hapalosiphon intricatus, Anabaena doliolum and Oscillatoria acuta grown for 21 days under different salt concentrations (80, 160, 240, 320 and 400 mM) in BG11 medium showed differential growth responses in terms of biomass, total protein, chlorophyll content, total content of polyphenol, flavonoid and carotenoid, accumulation of phenolic acids (gallic, caffeic, chlorogenic, ferullic and vanillic) and flavonoids (rutin and quercetin). Cyanobacterial extracts showed prominent free radical scavenging antioxidant activity (AOA) in terms of % DPPH discoloration. Highly significant (p < 0.05) and strong correlation was found between TPC and AOA (r = 0.974). Other positive but non-significant (p < 0.05) correlations were observed between AOA and gallic acid (r = 0.893) and AOA and caffeic acid (r = 0.931). Significant and strong correlation was also observed between gallic and caffeic acid (r = 0.973). Positive but lesser magnitude correlations were recorded between TPC and caffeic acid (r = 0.905), TPC and gallic acid (r = 0.920), gallic and vanillic acid (r = 0.916) and caffeic and vanillic acid (r = 0.814). An integrated combination of growth parameters, salt-induced accumulation of phenylpropanoids and stress-derived subsequent antioxidant property of cyanobacterial extracts is thought to provide evidence that secondary metabolic changes can act as the possible alternative mechanism to overcome stress-induced damages in cells.

PAPR Reduction in NOMA by Using Hybrid Algorithms

Non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA)is gaining considerable attention due to its features,such as low out-of-band radiation,signal detection capability,high spectrum gain,fast data rate,and massive D2D *** may be considered for 5G ***,the high peak.to-average power ratio(PAPR)is viewed as a significant disadvantage of a NOMA waveform,and it weak.ns the quality of signals and the throughput of the *** this article,we introduce a modified NOMA system by employing a block.of wavelet transform,an alternative to FFT(Fast Fourier transform).The modified system combines the details of fractional frequency and time analysis of NOMA *** this correspondence,we utilize an advanced partial transmission scheme(PTS),and selective mapping(SLM),and present a genetic algorithm(GA)for SLM to investigate the peak.power performance of a WT-based NOMA *** performance of WT-SLM,WT-PTS,and WT-SLM-GA methods is compared with that of the traditional NOMAbased SLM and PTS *** simulation results demonstrate that the proposed system effectively reduces PAPR in comparison with the traditional schemes.

Fragment emission and critical behavior in light and heavy charged systems

We study the emission of fragments in central collisions of light and heavily charged systems of^4+Ar+^45 Sc and^s4k.+^197 Au,respectively,using the Quantum Molecular Dynamics(QMD)model as the primary *** fragments are identified using an energy based clusterization algorithm,i.e.,the Simulated Annealing Clusterization Algorithm(SACA).The charge distributions of intermediate mass fragments[3≤Zf≤12]are fitted with power-law(∝Zf^-τ)and exp on ential(∝e^-λZf)fits in order to extract the parametersτandλ,whose minimum values are also sometimes link.d with the onset of fragmentation or the critical point for a liquid-gas phase *** parameters such as the normalized second moment,,average size of the second largest cluster,phase separation parameter(Sp),bimodal parameter(P),information entropy(H),and Zipfs law are also analyzed to find the exact energy of the onset of *** detailed analysis predicts that an energy point exists between 20-23.1 MeV/nucleon,which is very close to the experimentally observed value of 23.9 MeV/nucleon for the^40Ar+^45Sc *** also find that the critical energy deduced using Zipfs law is higher than those predicted from other critical ***,no minimum is found for t values of the highly charged system of^84k.+^197Au,in agreement with experimental findings and various theoretical *** observe that the QMD+SACA model calculations are in agreement with the experimental *** agreement supports our results regarding the energy point of the liquid-gas phase transition and the onset of fragmentation.

Back.round:The expression of gender in gymnosperms is challenging because the extent of variability in gender segregations in tree crowns and selection pressure of nature can modify the gender through ***:An in-depth investigation on spatial segregation of genders in tree crowns and sex expression of a total of 500 trees in five different natural populations of Cedrus deodara was carried out and verified the occurrence of subdioecious(co-existence of male,female,and monoecious)genders in ***:Five different sexual morphs were apparent among the 500 selected individuals as(1)pure male(M):bearing only male strobili in the whole crown with 22.2%;(2)pure female(F):bearing only female strobili in the whole crown with 12.4%;(3)mixed-monoecious(MM):bearing both male and female strobili with 13.6%;(4)predominantly female(PF)with 25.6%;and(5)predominantly male(PM)with 26.2%.The occurrence of multiple sexual morphs resulted from the complex selection pressure,which increased the stability of the *** segregation of genders in crown layers deemed to increase the fitness that may be a mechanism for accelerating *** results of the study suggest that the subdioecious gender expression in *** is evolved through the monoecy–paradioecy *** production of male strobili revealed non-significant effect of tree sizes whereas a significant effect was observed for the production of female *** study established that the total pollen and seed outputs in *** changed frequently according to gender ***:The size of the tree,resource availability,sex allocation,plant architecture,gender segregation in crowns,and habitat conditions are the prominent causes for gender plasticity.

A mathematical model for salt transport by a cylindrical root in an infinite extent of soil is derived and solved analytically by asymptotic matching of the inner and outer solutions. By asymptotic analysis it is shown that the salt solution uptak. by a single cylindrical root in the absence of competition does not influence the overall salt concentration in the soil even when the soil moisture concentration is less than full saturation.

Pollinator-mediated self-pollination and reproductive assurance in an isolated tree of Magnolia grandiflora L.

Back.round:The ability to produce seeds when pollinators or potential mates are scarce is one of the principal advantages of self-pollination in flowering ***,the role of pollinators mediating self-pollination to ensure seed set when pollen or potential mates are limited has received less *** study examined the reproductive consequences and involvement of pollinators in assuring seed set in an isolated tree of Magnolia grandiflora,a predominantly outcrossing ***:We tested various aspects of reproduction such as flower density,floral rewards,stigma receptivity,pollinator abundance and behaviour,fruit set and seed set,in two successive reproductive years(2015-2016).Results:Flowers of *** possess a suite of traits facilitating pollinator-mediated self-pollination(PMS),although the chances of autonomous self-pollination are reduced due to herk.gamy,spatial separation of anther and *** mean pollen production/flower was 5,152,289±285,094 with a pollen-to-ovule ratio of 39430±*** found a significant positive correlation between number of visits and seed production for bees(r=0.5099,p=0.0007)and beetles(r=0.7159,p=0.00001),indicating these are effective at *** was a significant negative correlation for thrips(r=-0.3206,p=0.044)and no correlation for flies or *** percent fruit set was 100%and the seed set per ovule ranged between 19 and 20%.Conclusions:PMS will guarantee reproductive assurance and mitigate the effect of reduced mates or pollen limitation which is expected to increase the fecundity and establishment of individual trees in geographically isolated locations.

Reproductive biology of Cornus capitata Wall. ex Roxb.: a native species in East Asia

The reproductive biology of Cornus capitata was studied in detail from June 2014 to October 2015 in Tehri Garhwal, Uttarak.and, western Himalaya, India and elucidated floral morphology, confirming autogamy, geitonogamy, and xenogamy. A new inflorescence ball formed each year with developing fruits that were initiated the previous year; thus reproduction is a continuous cycle. The total pollen production within a tree ranged between 4.0 × 10~7 and 9.3 × 10~7. Anthesis peak.d between 08:00 and 10:00. There was significant effect of micro-environmental condition on anthesis(F = 243.8, p = 3.01). A significant positive relationship between the number of lateral shoots and total inflorescence showed that the inflorescence production in C. capitate depends largely on the number of lateral shoots. Time and concentration of various solutions significantly affected pollen germination(time: F = 5.39, p = 0.002; concentration: F = 1.40,p = 0.234). Anthophora bees and thrips were observed as the main pollinators. There was a significant difference in seed set between natural and obligate self-pollination(t = 11.84, p = 1.99). Significant effect was also observed on fruit size(t = 8.88, p = 2.09) between open and shaded conditions. SEM micrographs of pollen grains showed that the shape of dehydrated pollen grains differed greatly due to variations in the rate of dehydration among pollen grains within the anther. Seed germination was observed only in quality seed derived from open pollination, supporting xenogamy in C. capitata. Findings of the present study will be of immense value in formulating effective conservation measures for the species in wild habitats.

NOMA and it also degrades the performance of the *** Partial Transmission Sequence(PTS)is a superior algorithm for moderating the ***,it also increases the complexity of the *** PAPR is reduced in NOMA by multiplying the NOMA signal with optimised phase vectors(P).The phase vectors are generated by using the Vandermonde Matrix(VM).In this work.we proposed a VM-PTS algorithm for the NOMA system,and the number of computations to search the optimal phase vectors for NOMA high PAPR signal is less as compared with existing *** outcomes demonstrate that the performance of the recommended PTS in terms of PAPR,Bit Error Rate(BER),and complexity is better than the conventional PTS(C-PTS).

Study of temporal and spectral characteristics of the X-ray emission from solar flares

Temporal and spectral characteristics of X-ray emission from 60 flares of intensity ≥C class observed by the Solar X-ray Spectrometer （SOXS） during 2003-2011 are presented. We analyze the X-ray emission observed in four and three energy bands by the Si and Cadmium-Zinc-Telluride （CZT） detectors, respectively. The number of peak. in the intensity profile of the flares varies between 1 and 3. We find moderate correlation （R ~=0.2） between the rise time and the peak.flux of the first peak.of the flare irrespective of energy band, which is indicative of its energy-independent nature. Moreover, the magnetic field complexity of the flaring region is found to be highly anti-correlated （R = 0.61） with the rise time of the flares while positively correlated （R = 0.28） with the peak.flux of the flare. The time delay between the peak.of the X-ray emission in a given energy band and that in 25-30k.V decreases with increasing energy, suggesting conduction cooling is dominant in the lower energies. Analysis of 340 spectra from 14 flares reveals that the peak.of differential emission measure （DEM） evolution is delayed by 60-360 s relative to that of the temperature, and this time delay is inversely proportional to the peak.flux of the flare. We conclude that temporal and intensity characteristics of flares are dependent on energy as well as the magnetic field configuration of the active region.
