Role of.climatic variability in shaping intraspecif.c variation of.thermal tolerance in mediterranean water beetles

The climatic variability hypothesis(CVH)predicts that organisms in more thermally variable environments have wider thermal breadths and higher thermal plasticity than those f.om more stable ***,due to evolutionary trade-of.s,taxa with greater absolute thermal limits may have little plasticity of.such limits(trade-of. hypothesis).The CVH assumes that climatic variability is the ultimate driver of.thermal tolerance variation across latitudinal and altitudinal gradients,but average temperature also varies along such *** explored intraspecif.c variation of.thermal tolerance in three typical mediterranean saline water beetles(f.milies Hydrophilidae and Dytiscidae).f.r each species,we compared two populations where the species coexist,with similar annual mean temperature but contrasting thermal variability(continental *** population).We estimated thermal limits of.adults f.om each population,previously acclimated at 17,20,or 25℃.We f.und species-specif.c patterns but overall,our results agree with the CVH regarding thermal ranges,which were wider in the continental(more variable)*** the two hydrophilid species,this came at the cost of.losing plasticity of.the upper thermal limit in this population,supporting the trade-of. hypothesis,but not in the dytiscid *** results support the role of.local adaptation to thermal variability and trade-of.s between basal tolerance and physiological plasticity in shaping thermal tolerance in aquatic ectotherms,but also suggest that intraspecif.c variation of.thermal tolerance does not f.t a general pattern among aquatic *** such intraspecif.c variation could lead to inaccurate predictions of.the vulnerability of.aquatic insects to global warming.

Inf.uence of.Humidity on Yield stress Determination by slump Test of.slip-Prone Clayey soils and Their Relation with the Chemical Properties

In this work, the yield stress evaluation as a f.nction of.water content f.r slip-prone clayey soils is studied in order to understand how yield stress decreases as water content increases, and their relation with the chemical properties. The clayey soil samples were taken f.om the region of.Teziutlán-Puebla-mexico. Yield stress was calculated using the slump test in cylindrical geometry. Results show three zones. The f.rst one shows an exponential decrement on yield stress due to lower water content in accord with clayey soils with high content of.illita, f.llowed by a second region where yield stress decreases dramatically at a certain critical water concentration, and the third one where yield stress dependence is not well-def.ned since the clayey soil f.ow is seen. f.nally, it is discussed how yield stress variation due to the water increment inf.uences the landslide risk increment.

We report the synthesis of.undoped ZnO and Al-doped ZnO (ZnO:Al) nanowires grown using a two-step process: (a) preparation of.the seed layer, and (b) growth of.the nanostructures. In the f.rst step,? 10 mm solutions of.zinc acetate dihydrate and 1-propanol were spin coated on polyethylene terephthalate? (PET) substrate at 2000 rpm by 30 s. Vertical nanowires were then grown by dipping the substrates in an equimolar solution of.zinc nitrate hexahydrate and hexamethylenetetramine. As doping source, aluminum nitrate nonahydrate powders were added in the solution. In the solutions, Al doping concentrations were established as 0.5 At %, 1.0 At %, 2.0 At % and 3.0 At %, respectively. The hydrothermal process were carried out with a commercially microwave at 140 W power setting. The nanowires were characterized optically and morphologically. XRD patterns show the presence of.ZnO, Zn(OH)2 and Zn6Al2O9. scanning electron microscopy analysis showed that the size of.ZnO nanowires was 50 nm in diameter. The undoped ZnO and ZnO:Al nanowires bandgap energy was obtained f.om optical transmission spectra.

This work reports the growth and characterization of.p-AlInN layers doped with mg by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy(PAmBE).AlInN was grown with an Al molar f.action of.0.80 by metal-modulated epitaxy(mmE)with a thickness of.180 nm on si(111)substrates using AlN as buf.er *** substrate temperatures were used to enhance the incorporation of.indium atoms into the alloy without clustering,as conf.rmed by X-ray dif.raction(XRD).Cathodoluminescence measurements revealed ultraviolet(UV)range ***,Hall ef.ect measurements indicated a maximum hole mobility of.146 cm^(2)/(V∙s),corresponding to a f.ee hole concentration of.1.23×10^(19)cm^(−3).The samples were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPs)estimating the alloy composition and extracting the f.rmi level by valence band ***-doped AlInN layers were studied f.r use as the electron-blocking layer(EBL)in LED *** varied the Al composition in the EBL f.om 0.84 to 0.96 molar f.action to assess its theoretical ef.ects on electroluminescence,carrier concentration,and electric f.eld,using sILVACO *** results f.om this study highlight the importance and capability of.producing high-quality mg-doped p-AlInN layers through *** simulations suggest that an Al content of.0.86 is optimal f.r achieving desired outcomes in electroluminescence,carrier concentration,and electric f.eld.

The genus Argemone L.(Papaveraceae)is f.und widely distributed in mexico’s Chihuahuan Desert(CD).some species of.this genus are of.phytochemical or ethnobotanical *** are inedible plants considered as *** date they have not been broadly studied;thus,their ecology is,to our knowledge,*** present work was centered around carrying out a morphometric analysis and the determination of.minerals in the soil and seeds of.the wild populations of.Argemone at sites belonging to two ecoregions of.the CD in *** April 2021 and April 2022,seeds of.Argemone spp.,and soil samples were collected at 10 sites of.the *** seeds were selected under a randomized design,and weight,length,diameter,thickness,buoyancy,and mineral content were *** soil samples were obtained under the mexican regulation NOm-021-RECNAT-2000,and determinations of.mineral content,electrical conductivity,apparent density,and soluble anions were *** inf.rmation obtained was grouped by variable,species,and place of.*** statistical tests consisted of.an ANOVA,Tukey means tests considering p≤0.05,and a Principal Components *** pleiacantha exhibited dif.erences in terms of.weight(f.54.79,p=0.001),length(f.90.83,p=0.001),thickness(f.104.89,p=0.001),and diameter(f.155.82,p=0.001),and the dif.erences in Argemone mexicana were in weight(f.46.71,p=0.001),thickness(f.187.49,p=0.001),length(f.191.56,p=0.001),and diameter(f.215.83,p=0.001).The evaluated seeds reached their maximal imbibition velocity at 24 h of.*** content of.the micro-and macro-nutrients analyzed in the seeds and soil suggest a tight relation with the morphometric characteristics of.the seeds.

In recent decades,the importance of.surf.ce acoustic waves,as a biocompatible tool to integrate with microf.uidics,has been proven in various medical and biological *** numerical modeling of.acoustic streaming caused by surf.ce acoustic waves in microchannels requires the ef.ect of.viscosity to be considered in the equations which complicates the *** this paper,it is shown that the major contribution of.viscosity and the horizontal component of.actuation is concentrated in a narrow region alongside the actuation *** the inviscid equations are considerably easier to solve,a division into the viscous and inviscid domains would alleviate the computational load *** particles'traces calculated by this approximation are excellently alongside their counterparts f.om the completely viscous *** is also shown that the optimum thickness f.r the viscous strip is about 9-f.ld the acoustic boundary layer thickness f.r various f.ow patterns and amplitudes of.actuation.
