In this work,the surface modification using a two-steps plasma etching has been developed for enhancing energy conversion performance in polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG).Enhancing surface area by a powerful O_(2) and Ar bipolar pulse plasma etching without the use of CF_(4) gas has been demonstrated for the first *** with modified surface PTFE using a sequential two-step O_(2)/Ar plasma has a superior power density of 9.9 W·m^(-2),which is almost thirty times higher than that of a pristine PTFE *** synergistic combination of high surface area and charge trapping sites due to chemical bond defects achieved from the use of a sequential O_(2)/Ar plasma gives rise to the intensified triboelectric charge density and the enhancement of power output of PTFE-based *** effects of plasma species and plasma etching sequence on surface morphologies and surface chemical species were investigated by a field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),atomic force microscopy(AFM),and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The correlation of surface morphology,chemical structure,and TENG performance was *** addition,the applications of mechanical energy harvesting for lighting,charging capacitors,keyboard sensing and operating a portable calculator were demonstrated.

CFD Investigation of Compressible Low Angles of Attack Flow over the Missile

In modem missile design, the operation of a missile aerodynamics with angles of attack is required to serve a demand on the maneuverability. The key aero-physics is the development of vortices and its interaction to the control surface such as wing and fins. This paper thus presents the investigation of the missile flow field at 4° and 8° degrees of angles of attack. The Mach numbers for both case were varied from 0.6 to 5.5. Here, the Steady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes （SRANS） equations with standard κ-ε turbulence model were selected. The numerical results of aerodynamics coefficients （both force and moment） were compared against semi-empirical data computed using Missile DatCOM. The results revealed the development of vortices observed and their interaction with fin at the rear part of the missile.

A prophylactic approach for bone marrow transplantation from a hepatitis B surface antigen-positive donor

It has been accepted that bone marrow transplantation （BMT） is the only curative therapeutic option for certain hematologic malignancies. The southeast Asia region is an endemic area of hepatitis B virus （HBV） infection; thus, BMT using a hepatitis B surface antigen （HBsAg）- positive donor is occasionally unavoidable. Organ transplantation using a HBsAg-positive donor can lead to post-transplantation de novo HBV infection and severe HBV-related hepatitis if no effective prophylactic measures are taken prior to and after transplantation. In this report, a four-level approach was designed for a patient with chronic myeloid leukemia, beginning with a booster HBV vaccination before performing BMT with a HBsAg-positive donor. Prior to BMT, the HBV viral load of the donor was reduced to an undetectable level by anUviral therapy. After BMT, hepatitis B immunoglobulin was administered intramuscularly for 1 wk together with a long-term antiviral drug, lamivudine. One year after discontinuation of lamivudine, the patient is still free of HBV infection.

A combustion burner for the production of submicron polydisperse aerosol particles was developed and experimentally studied in this paper. The sample particles from the generator were characterized by the scanning electron microscope ( SEM) ,the energy dispersive spectroscopy ( EDS) ,and the long electrical mobility spectrometer ( L-EMS) for morphology,chemical composition,and particle number concentration and size distribution,respectively. It was found from the SEM image that a large portion of the particles were non-spherical and were agglomerated. Polydisperse aerosols with particle number concentrations of approximately 10 14 particles /m 3 were obtained. The average diameter of the generated particles obtained by the L-EMS is in the range of approximately 5 nm to several hundred nanometers.
