The s.atial pattern dis.rib.tion of plant hormones.in res.ons. to aluminum (Al) toxicity in roots.remains.to b. s.own. This.s.udy was.performed to as.es. the root hormonal accumulation and g.ne expres.ion in res.ons. to Al toxicity in five trans.enic miniature dwarf tomatoes.cv. Micro-Tom (MT). MT and MT trans.enics.to acid indole acetic, cytokinin, g.b.erellin, ab.cis.c acid and ethylene were cultivated in nutrient s.lutions.containing.different Al concentrations. Root g.owth elong.tion was.meas.red and cellular damag. was.vis.alized b. s.aining.Evans.s.b.ue. The g.s.reporter g.ne s.aining.technique was.us.d to vis.alize hormonal chang.s.in MT apex root tis.ues. Data indicated that the MT is.s.ns.tive to Al that induced s.g.ificant g.owth inhib.tion and cellular damag.. Al concentration of 27 μM was.s.g.ificantly toxic, inducing.root apex darkening.and inhib.tion of root development. The qualitative evaluation of g.s.reporter g.ne expres.ion s.owed intens. cros.talk among.all hormones.s.udied, unders.oring.the complexity of s.g.aling.induced b. Al in apex roots. Res.lts.point out to a major unders.anding.of the hormonal s.g.aling.in res.ons. to Al toxicity, which may induce a chang. of root g.owth and architecture with g.owth inhib.tion and cell cons.raints.modulated b. all different hormones.evaluated.
