Background:Non-pharmaceutical interventions(NPIs)are a crucial suite of measures to prevent and control infectious disease *** being particularly important for crisis-affected populations and those living in informal settlements,who typically reside in overcrowded and resource limited settings with inadequate access to healthcare,guidance on NPI implementation rarely takes the specific needs of such populations into *** therefore conducted a systematic scoping review of the published evidence to describe the landscape of research and identify evidence gaps concerning the acceptability,feasibility,and effectiveness of NPIs among crisis-affected populations and informal ***:We systematically reviewed peer-reviewed articles published between 1970 and 2020 to collate available evidence on the feasibility,acceptability,and effectiveness of NPIs in crisis-affected populations and informal *** performed quality assessments of each study using a standardised *** analysed the data to produce descriptive summaries according to a number of categories:date of publication;geographical region of intervention;typology of crisis,shelter,modes of transmission,NPI,research design;study design;and study ***:Our review included 158 studies published in 85 peer-reviewed *** research used low quality study *** acceptability,feasibility,and effectiveness of NPIs was highly context *** general,simple and cost-effective interventions such as community-level environmental cleaning and provision of water,sanitation and hygiene services,and distribution of items for personal protection such as insecticide-treated nets,were both highly feasible and ***,financial,and human resource constraints affected both the implementation and sustainability of *** engagement emerged as a strong factor contributing to the effectiveness of ***,measures that involve po

Proton radiography in background magnetic fields

Proton radiography has proved increasingly successful as a diagnostic for electric and magnetic fields in high-energy-density physics ex*** experiments use target-normal sheath acceleration sources with a wide energy range in the proton beam,since the velocity spread can help differentiate between electric and magnetic fields and provide time histories in a single ***,in magnetized plasma experiments with strong background fields,the broadband proton spectrum leads to velocity-spread-dependent displacement of the beam and significant blurring of the *** describe the origins of this blurring and show how it can be removed from experimental measurements,and we outline the conditions under which such deconvolutions are *** an example,we apply this method to a magnetized plasma experiment that used a background magnetic field of 3 T and in which the strong displacement and energy spread of the proton beam reduced the spatial resolution from tens of micrometers to a few *** of the deconvolution procedure accurately recovers radiographs with resolutions better than 100μm,enabling the recovery of more accurate estimates of the path-integrated magnetic *** work extends accurate proton radiography to a class of experiments with significant background magnetic fields,particularly those experiments with an applied external magnetic field.

Predictive markers of endocrine response in breast cancer

Ongoing clinical and research efforts seek to optimise the use of endocrine therapy in the treatment of breast cancer. Accurate biomarkers are needed that predict response for individual patients. The presence of the estrogen receptor(ER) as the direct(for tamoxifen and fulvestrant) or indirect(for aromatase inhibitors) target molecule for endocrine therapy remains the foremost biomarker and determinant of response. However, ER expression only poorly predicts outcome and further indicators of response or resistance are required. The development and application of molecular signature assays such as Oncotype Dx, Prosigna, Mammaprint and Endopredict have provided valuable information on prognosis and these are being used to support clinical decision making on whether endocrine therapy alone alongside surgery is sufficient for ER-positive early stage breast cancers or whether combination of endocrine with chemotherapy are also warranted. Ki67, the proliferation marker, has been widely used in the neo-adjuvant(pre-operative) setting to help predict response and long term outcome. Gene expression studies within the same setting have allowed monitoring of changes of potential predictive markers. These have identified frequent changes in estrogenregulated and proliferation genes. Specific molecules such as mutant ER may also prove helpful biomarkers in predicting outcome and monitoring response to treatment.
