Semi-Empirical Algorithm for Wind Speed Retrieval from Gaofen-3 Quad-Polarization Strip Mode SAR Data

The goal of this study was to investigate the performance of a spectral-transformation wave retrieval algorithm and confirm the accuracy of wave retrieval from C-band Chinese Gaofen-3(GF-3)Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR)*** than 200 GF-3 SAR images of the coastal China Sea and the Japan Sea for dates from January to July 2020 were acquired in the Quad-Polarization Strip(QPS)*** images had a swath of 30 km and a spatial resolution of 8 m pixel *** were processed to retrieve Significant Wave Height(SWH),which is simulated from a numerical wave model called Simulating WAves Nearshore(SWAN).The first-guess spectrum is essential to the accuracy of Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR)wave spectrum ***,we proposed a wave retrieval scheme combining the theocratic-based Max Planck Institute Algorithm(MPI),a Semi-Parametric Retrieval Algorithm(SPRA),and the Parameterized First-guess Spectrum Method(PFSM),in which a full wave-number spectrum and a non-empirical ocean spectrum proposed by Elfouhaily are *** PFSM can be driven using the wind speed without calculating the dominant wave phase *** speeds were retrieved using a Vertical-Vertical(VV)polarized geophysical model function *** proposed algorithm was implemented for all collected SAR images.A comparison of SAR-derived wind speeds with European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts(ECMWF)ERA-5 data showed a 1.95 m/s Root-Mean-Squared Error(RMSE).The comparison of retrieved SWH with SWAN-simulated results demonstrated a 0.47 m RMSE,which is less than the 0.68 m RMSE of SWH when using the PFSM algorithm.

In this study,we provide a summary of research advances in the field of maritime target detection using DP(dualpolarimetric)SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar)imagery,accomplished during the European and China collaboration in the framework of the Dragon-4 program ID *** main innovative contribution is twofold:(1)We addressed ship detection proposing an improved GP-PNF(Geometrical Perturbation-Polarimetric Notch Filter),termed as IGP-PNF,that is characterized by a new feature vector that includes three new scattering features;(2)We addressed oil platform detection by contrasting singlepolarization SAR methods with polarimetric ones in order to quantify the extra-benefit carried on polarimetric *** proposed theoretical framework is tested against actual multi-polarization SAR *** particular,ship detection methods are verified against a Sentinel-1 SAR scene where a large number of ships is present;while,oil platform detection is discussed using Terra SAR-X SAR *** analysis shows that:(1)The IGP-PNF method performs best in terms of clutter-to-target ratio;(2)Coherent polarimetric information significantly outperforms single-polarization SAR measurements in highlighting targets in challenging cases.

Analyzing voting power in decentralized governance:Who controls DAOs?

Epidemicity indices and reproduction numbers from infectious disease data in connected human populations

Peyronie’s disease(PD)is a condition of penile connective tissue affecting up to 10%of men *** the complexity ofits management,nonsurgical treatments,such as intraplaque injections,are gaining *** current literature shows dataon the efficacy of intraplaque injections of hyaluronic acid(HA)mainly in acute-phase ***,data on injections of HA instable-phase PD are *** for this retrospective study were derived from a prospectively maintained database of privatepatients presenting at a private medical practice affiliated to the University of Naples“Federico II”(Naples,Italy)with stable-phasePD between January 2020 and March *** underwent a standard protocol of three injections,each administered at atwo-week *** the intervals,patients performed vacuum device therapy,penile stretching,and modeling *** compiled the Peyronie’s Disease Questionnaire(PDQ)and Global Assessment of Peyronie’s Disease(GAPD)at baselineand 2 weeks after the third injection.A penile Doppler ultrasound was performed 2 weeks after the last injection to record thefinal ***,we recruited 62 patients with stable-phase PD and a mean(±standard deviation[s.d.])curvature of52.7°(±9.7°).After 6 weeks,eight(12.9%)patients did not experience any curvature *** remaining 54 patientshad a final mean(±s.d.)curvature of 40.3°(±9.1°)with P<0.001,compared to that before *** found improvement inall PDQ domains(all P≤0.01),and 50(80.6%)patients reported subjective improvement of the penile curvature according to *** conclusion,we demonstrated that after three injections of HA administered according to the adopted protocol,patientswith stable-phase PD could experience significant improvements in penile curvature,and physical and psychological consequencesof the disease without significantly relevant side effects.

Let X be a zero-dimensional scheme in p1 × p1. Then X has a minimal free resolution of length 2 if and only if X is ACM. In this paper we determine a class of reduced schemes whose resolutions, similarly to the ACM case, can be obtained by their Hilbert functions and depend only on their distributions of points in a grid of lines. Moreover, a minimal set of generators of the ideal of these schemes is given by curves split into the union of lines.
