Transcatheter pulmonic valve implantation: Techniques, current roles, and future implications

Systematic review and meta-analysis of outcomes of anatomic repair in congenitally corrected transposition of great arteries

BACKGROUND Treatment of congenitally corrected transposition of great arteries(cc-TGA)with anatomic repair strategy has been considered superior due to restoration of the morphologic left ventricle in the systemic ***,data on long term outcomes are limited to single center reports and include small sample *** To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis for observational studies reporting outcomes on anatomic repair for *** MEDLINE and Scopus databases were queried using predefined criteria for reports published till December 31,*** reporting anatomic repair of minimum 5 cc-TGA patients with at least a 2 year follow up were *** was performed using Comprehensive meta-analysis v3.0 *** Eight hundred and ninety-five patients underwent anatomic repair with a pooled follow-up of 5457.2 patient-years(PY).Pooled estimate for operative mortality was 8.3%[95%confidence interval(CI):6.0%-11.4%].0.2%(CI:0.1%-0.4%)patients required mechanical circulatory support postoperatively and 1.7%(CI:1.1%-2.4%)developed post-operative atrioventricular block requiring a *** surviving initial surgery had a transplant free survival of 92.5%(CI:89.5%-95.4%)per 100 PY and a low rate of need for pacemaker(0.3/100 PY;CI:0.1-0.4).84.7%patients(CI:79.6%-89.9%)were found to be in New York Heart Association(NYHA)functional class I or II after 100 PY follow *** re-intervention rate was 5.3 per 100 PY(CI:3.8-6.8).CONCLUSION Operative mortality with anatomic repair strategy for cc-TGA is *** that,transplant free survival after anatomic repair for cc-TGA patients is highly *** of patients maintain NYHA I/II functional ***,monitoring for burden of re-interventions specific for operation type is very essential.

Jailing polymer jacketed guide-wires during bifurcation coronary interventions is associated with procedural myocardial infarction

AIM To study the relationship of jailed polymer jacketed guide wires(PGW) with procedural myocardial infarction(PMI) after bifurcation coronary *** Consecutive bifurcation interventions performed from January 2010 to October 2014 were included in the study. Chart review was performed to obtain demographic, clinical and procedural data. PMI was defined as Creatine Kinase MB > 3 × upper reference limit of normal. Multivariate logistic regression was used to ascertain relationship of PGW use with *** Two hundred and ninety-three patients(age 63.5 ± 12.3 years; 33.8% diabetic) were included in the study. Eighty point two percent(n = 235) were true bifurcation lesions use of PGW was associated with PMI on univariate analysis(OR = 4.1; P = 0.002). This association remained significant after adjusting for other possible risk factors(OR = 3.5; P = 0.02).CONCLUSION Our results suggest that PGW use for side branch protection may be associated with PMI. Randomized studies are needed to validate these findings.

Evaluation of load transfer mechanism under axial loads in a novel coupler of dual height rock bolts

The effective reinforcement of two or more overlying layers of mine openings in a single installation is usually done by coupling of two standard rock bolts mainly during the extraction of medium-thick coal ***,field observations show that the couplers of multiple bolts often degrade or break mostly at their *** types of failures can be avoided by strengthening the couplers of such multi-bolts *** achieve this,a novel threaded coupler system with an expansion shell was suggested in this *** newly designed coupler consists of a threaded tapered-plug-cumconnector with an expansion shell for connecting and tightening two standard rock *** analytical model for evaluating the load distribution along the coupler subject to axial load was *** analysis was performed to analyse the load transfer,deformation,and strains across the coupler including the factor of safety for the bolt-coupler-resin and bolt-coupler-expansion *** results validated the analytical model of the proposed coupler design,which provides better anchorage near the interface of the host rock ***,the developed coupler design would reduce the failures of the proposed coupler and stabilize laminated roof strata above the medium-thick coal seams in underground mines.

Synthesis of Nanocrystalline FeS_2 with Increased Band Gap for Solar Energy Harvesting

In this paper,we have reported the synthesis of FeS2 of higher band gap energy（2.75 eV） by using capping reagent and its successive application in organic-inorganic based hybrid solar *** route was adopted for preparing iron pyrite（FeS2） nanoparticles with capping reagent *** quality of synthesized FeS2 material was confirmed by X-ray diffraction,field emission scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy,Fourier transform infrared,thermogravimetric analyzer,and Raman *** optical band gap energy and electro-chemical band gap energy of the synthesized FeS2 were investigated by UV-vis spectrophotometry and cyclic *** band gap engineered FeS2 has been successfully used in conjunction with conjugated polymer MEHPPV for harvesting solar *** energy conversion efficiency was obtained as 0.064%with a fill-factor of 0.52.

Extraction of locked-up coal by strengthening of rib pillars with FRP--A comparative study through numerical modelling

In some of the coalfields in India, coal seams are only developed but no extraction of pillars is possible due to the presence of surface or sub-surface structures and also non-availability of stowing materials which leads to huge amounts of coal being locked-up underground. Spontaneous heating and fire, accumulation of poisonous gases, severe stability issues leading to unsafe workings and environmental hazards are the major problems associated with the developed coal pillars. So, there is a pressing need for a technology for the mining industry to extract the huge amount of coal locked-up under different constraints. In this study, the locked-up coal is proposed to be extracted by artificially strengthening the rib pillars. The detailed comparative study is carried out to know the increase of extraction percentage of locked-up coal by strengthening the rib pillars with FRP. Extraction methodology is designed and studied through numerical modelling for its stability analysis to evaluate its suitability of application in underground.

Miniature lenses with a tunable focus are essential components for many modern applications involving compact optical *** several tunable lenses have been reported with various tuning mechanisms,they often face challenges with respect to power consumption,tuning speed,fabrication cost,or production *** this work,we have adapted the mechanism of an Alvarez lens–a varifocal composite lens in which lateral shifts of two optical elements with cubic phase surfaces give rise to a change in the optical power–to construct a miniature,microelectromechanical system(MEMS)-actuated metasurface Alvarez *** based on an electrostatic MEMS generates fast and controllable actuation with low power *** utilization of metasurfaces–ultrathin and subwavelength-patterned diffractive optics–as optical elements greatly reduces the device volume compared to systems using conventional freeform *** entire MEMS Alvarez metalens is fully compatible with modern semiconductor fabrication technologies,granting it the potential to be mass-produced at a low unit *** the reported prototype operating at 1550 nm wavelength,a total uniaxial displacement of 6.3µm was achieved in the Alvarez metalens with a direct-current(DC)voltage application up to 20V,which modulated the focal position within a total tuning range of 68µm,producing more than an order of magnitude change in the focal length and a 1460-diopter change in the optical *** MEMS Alvarez metalens has a robust design that can potentially generate a much larger tuning range without substantially increasing the device volume or energy consumption,making it desirable for a wide range of imaging and display applications.

Charge transport properties and variable photo-switching of three-terminal Cs_(2)AgBiBr_(6) device

In this study,we present an in-depth exploration of charge transport phenomena and variable photo-switching characteristics in a novel double-perovskite-based three-terminal *** Cs_(2)AgBiBr_(6) thin film(TF)was synthesized through a three-step thermal evaporation process followed by precise open-air annealing,ensuring superior film quality as confirmed by structural and morphological *** spectroscopy revealed distinct emissions at 2.28 and 2.07 eV,indicative of both direct and indirect electronic *** device exhibited space-charge limited current(SCLC)behaviour beyond 0.35 V,aligning with the relationship Current(I)∝Voltage(V)^(m),where the exponent m transitioned from≤1 to>*** analysis of Schottky parameters within the trap-filled limit(TFL)regime was conducted,accounting for variations in temperature and optical ***,the self-powered photodetector demonstrated outstanding performance under *** sensitivity of the device was finely tunable via the applied bias voltages at the third ***,an optimal bias voltage of±100μV yielded maximum responsivity(R)of 0.48 A/W and an impressive detectivity(D*)of 1.07×10^(9) Jones,highlighting the potential of this double-perovskite-based device for advanced optoelectronic applications.

Organic geochemical and petrographic characteristics of the Cambrian-Ordovician organic-rich marine shales in Scandinavia

This work used organic geochemistry and organic petrology to study the depositional environment,organic matter characteristics,and thermal maturity of the Cambrian-Ordovician organic-rich marine shales in the Baltic *** main macerals in Cambrian samples include alginite,bituminite and solid bitumen,while zooclastic macerals become the major proportion of organic matter in the Ordovician *** the maturity increase,solid bitumen becomes abundant and ***-like maceral was observed only in Furongian of well DBH15/73,which probably indicates the local intrusion of Permo-Carboniferous dolerite *** programmed pyrolysis results show that immature,early mature,and over-mature samples are ***,the data of high-uranium Furongian samples were greatly altered by igneous intrusives from local *** calculation model is simulated based on pyrolysis data and fitted according to the least-square fitting *** simulated fitting HIo:400mg HC/g TOC(369.5 mg HC/g TOC,430.5 mg HC/g TOC as 95%confidence bounds)is within the worldwide marine shale HI_(o)and indicates a marine anoxia and transgressive sea with shallow water column(organofacies B).
