BACKGROUND Nafamostat mesylate(NM)may prove to be one of the key drugs effective against coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)because of its anti-viral properties and the potential to manage ***,NM tends to increase serum potassium *** SUMMARY We observed hyperkalemia immediately after NM administration(200 mg/d)in four consecutive patients who were admitted to the Kanazawa University Hospital with severe COVID-19 *** potassium excretion decreased after NM administration in three patients who underwent *** NM is likely to produce hyperkalemia in patients with ***,it is necessary to monitor serum potassium values closely after NM initiation in COVID-19 patients who need respiratory support.

Infrasound observations at Syowa Station,East Antarctica:Implications for detecting the surface environmental variations in the polar regions

Characteristic infrasound waves observed at Antarctic stations demonstrate physical interaction involving environmental changes in the Antarctic continent and the surrounding oceans. A Chaparraltype infrasound sensor was installed at Syowa Station （SYO; 39°E, 69°S）, East Antarctica, as one of the projects of the International Polar Year （IPY2007-2008）. Data continuously recorded during the three seasons in 2008-2010 clearly indicate a contamination of the background oceanic signals （microbaroms） with peaks between 4 and 10 s observed during a whole season. The peak amplitudes of the microbaroms have relatively lower values during austral winters, caused by a larger amount of sea-ice extending around the Lutzow-Holm Bay near SYO, with decreasing ocean wave loading effects. Micro- baroms measurements are useful tool for characterizing ocean wave climate, complementing other oceanographic and geophysical data. A continuous monitoring by infrasound sensors in the Antarctic firmly contributes to the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty （CTBT） in the southern high latitude, together with the Pan-Antarctic Observations System （PAntOS） under the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research （SCAR）. Detailed measurements of the infrasound waves in Antarctica, consequently, could be a new proxy for monitoring regional environmental change as well as the temporal climate variations in the polar regions.

Nitride fuels have several advantages including high thermal conductivity and high metal density(like metallic fuels) and high melting point and isotropic crystal structure(like oxide fuels). Since the late 1990 s, the partitioning and transmutation of minor actinides(MA) has been studied to decrease the long-term radio-toxicity of high-level waste and to mitigate the burden of final disposal. Japan Atomic Energy Agency(JAEA) has proposed a dedicated transmutation cycle using an accelerator-driven system(ADS) with nitride fuels containing MA. The nitride fuel cycle we have developed includes a pyrochemical process. Our focus is on the electrolysis of nitride fuels and their refabrication from the recovered actinides; other processes are similar to the technology for metal fuel treatment and have been studied elsewhere. Here, we summarize our activity on the development of the pyrochemical treatment of spent nitride fuels.

Despite the promising characteristics of Dielectric Elastomel Actuator(DEA)as a practical soft actuator,the need of high voltage for its operation prevents the successful fabrication of a practical DEA,that is,the high voltage generation takes a bulky and costly power *** of complex shape change motion of DEA such as oscillatory shape change takes even a more bulky and costly multipurpose power *** is a serious practical issue to be *** our latest study,however,we could build a simple DEA system which exhibited a relatively complex and autonomous oscillatory shape change merely under a constant voltage,though the voltage needed was *** successful outcome must broaden the potential usefulness of DEA as a practical soft actuator.

Measurement of Ion Cyclotron Emissions by Using High-Frequency Magnetic Probes in the LHD

Two pairs of high-frequency magnetic probes were installed in the Large Helical Device （LHD）. During the injection of a perpendicular neutral beam, ion cyclotron emissions （ICEs） with the fundamental frequency corresponding to the ion cyclotron frequency at the plasma edge were detected, which are the same type of ICE as measured with the former spare ion cyclotron range of frequencies （ICRF） heating antennas. This type of ICE was further investigated with regard to the phase and intensity of signals. Another type of ICE was found in the LHD, and these ICEs were synchronized with bursts of toroidicity induced Alfv^n eigenmodes （TAE） and the rise of intensity of lost ion flux. Therefore the source of these ICEs was thought to be the particles transferred from the core to the outer region of plasma by the TAE bursts. The frequency of ICEs induced by the TAE bursts increases linearly with the magnetic field strength, since the ion cyclotron frequency increases with the magnetic field strength.

An Important Ornithischian Tracksite in the Early Jurassic of the Shenmu Region,Shaanxi,China

A large track site with multiple, well-preserved trackways of an Early Jurassic quadrupedal ornithischian dinosaur is the first report of Moyenisauripus-like trackways from Asia, herein named Shenmuichnus youngteilhardorum. The tracks occur in a clastic fluvial sequence in the Fuxian Formation in Shenmu County, Shaanxi Province, which is in the same general region as the discovery site of Sinoichnites, the first dinosaur track reported from China. Based on size and morphology, it is likely that Sinoichnites, which is now lost, also represents an ornithischian. The Shenmuichnus youngteilhardorum trackways show two modes of preservation： the first representing deeper tracks, with sediment rims, results in Deltapodus-like tracks, with indistinct pes digit traces and sub-circular manus traces, the second produces Moyenosauripus-like tracks, with clear tridactyl and pentadactyl digit traces in the pes and manus respectively. Thus the Shenmu trackways play a key role in resolving globally significant ichnotaxonomic problems surrounding the nomenclature of Sinoichnites, Moyenosauripus, Deltapodus and other named （Ravatichnus） and unnamed trackways from Asia, Africa and Europe. In addition they shed important light on the paleogeographical and paleoecological distribution of quadrupedal ornithischians in the Early Mesozoic. The track site has been the focus of a major excavation to transfer the trackways from their original remote location to the new Shenmu Museum, in Shenmu City. Other tracksites in the area which reveal Anomoepus, Grallator and the Deltapodus morphotype, together with Shenmuichnus and plant fossil evidence, suggest an Early Jurassic age for the tracksite.

Examination of in vivo mutagenicity of sodium arsenite and dimethylarsinic acid in gpt delta rats

Arsenic is a well-known human bladder and liver carcinogen, but its exact mechanism of carcinogenicity is not fully understood. Dimethylarsinic acid（DMAV） is a major urinary metabolite of sodium arsenite（i As~Ⅲ） and induces urinary bladder cancers in rats. DMAVand i As~Ⅲare negative in in vitro mutagenicity tests. However, their in vivo mutagenicities have not been determined. The purpose of present study is to evaluate the in vivo mutagenicities of DMAVand i As~Ⅲin rat urinary bladder epithelium and liver using gpt delta F344 ***-week old male gpt delta F344 rats were randomized into 3 groups and administered 0,92 mg/L DMAV, or 87 mg/L i As~Ⅲ（each 50 mg/L As） for 13 weeks in the drinking water. In the mutation assay, point mutations are detected in the gpt gene by 6-thioguanine selection（gpt assay） and deletion mutations are identified in the red/gam genes by Spi-selection（Spi-assay）. Results of the gpt and Spi-assays showed that DMAVand i As~Ⅲhad no effects on the mutant frequencies or mutation spectrum in urinary bladder epithelium or liver. These findings indicate that DMAVand i As~Ⅲare not mutagenic in urinary bladder epithelium or liver in rats.

In-Process Diameter Measurement Technique for Micro-Optical Fiber with Standing Wave Illumination

In this paper,we propose an in-process measurement method of the diameter of micro-optical fiber such as a tapered optical *** proposed technique is based on analyzing optically scattered light generated by standing wave *** proposed method is significant in that it requires an only limited measurement range and does not require a high dynamic range *** properties are suitable for in-process *** experiment verified that the proposed method could measure a fiber diameter as stable as±0.01μm under an air turbulence *** a result of comparing the measured diameter distribution with those by scanning electron microscopy,it was confirmed that the proposed method has a measurement accuracy better than several hundred nanometers.
