In this study,a cradle-to-gate life-cycle assessment(LCA)of Oregon-made cross-laminated timber(CLT)was conducted as per the ISO *** data pertaining to CLT manufacturing was collected from a production facility in Oregon and modeled with existing LCA data of Pacific Northwest softwood lumber production and harvesting *** energy is reported and encompasses all processes within the system *** emissions are reported and include fossil-based emissions from transportation and all production processes and carbon storage in *** results are presented for five impact categories,primary energy consumption,and net carbon impact of *** show the environmental advantage of CLT due to storing of large amounts of biogenic carbon in a building structure for a *** amount of carbon stored in CLT offsets the emissions released from all production processes;this indicates that CLT is a net negative carbon emitter,as more carbon is stored in the product than is emitted to produce the *** study shows the importance of using the LCA methodology for showing the net amount and type of energy used for production and the potential climatic impacts of using wood *** LCA study makes no comparative assertions.

Development and Characterization of Al_2O_3 Dispersed Al/Mg/Cu/Ti Matrix Composite

The effect of dispersion with different weight fractions of Al2O3 particles in metallic matrices （AI/Mg/Ti/Cu） fabricated by powder metallurgy was investigated. In the case of 15 wt% Al2O3 reinforced composites, peak hardness was attained which subsequently decreased with increasing the content of Al2O3. A correlation between the microhardness and nanomechanical properties at submicron scale was examined for all the composites. Specific strength and specific modulus were measured in order to figure out the performance of the composites.

COMPARATIVE CARBON FOOTPRINT ANALYSIS OF BAMBOO AND STEEL SCAFFOLDING

Building construction and maintenance is one of the major contributors to global warming and as a result has the potential to be a leader in sustainable *** systems are an important component of building construction,especially high-rise buildings.A scaffold consists of a modular system of metal or bamboo tubes or *** is a temporary construction structure created for reaching heights above a human’s reach,with the purpose of helping in con-struction or maintenance of a *** scaffolding industry in the US is dominated by *** areas where bamboo is indigenous,like many East Asian cities,bamboo is the scaffolding material of choice,even when it comes to high-rise *** goal was to analyze bamboo and steel thoroughly and estab-lish their environmental impacts using life cycle analysis(LCA).Consequently,this study explores the ecological viability in expanding the use of bamboo scaffolding where steel *** functional units used in this study are bamboo and steel scaffolding systems that are 2.74 m high,2.49 m wide,and 1.21 m deep.A cradle-to-gate LCA was performed to evaluate the environmental performance of the two scaffolding *** results suggest that bamboo scaffolding has a lower carbon footprint than steel scaffolding,with an ability to sequester carbon during its growth phase being a significant contributing *** is an important advantage of bamboo over nonrenewable materials(steel).Additionally,bamboo functions as a buffer,delaying the release of CO_(2) after the use *** main challenge for any scaffolding system made from renewable materials in the western world is the demand for ***,an ideal future goal should be the design of standardized scaffolding systems using renewable materials that com-bines the durability and homogeneity of steel scaffolding with the sustainability and environmental performance of bamboo scaffolding.

ALMA and GMRT Studies of Dust Continuum Emission and Spectral Lines Toward Oort Cloud Comet C/2022 E3(ZTF)

The atomic and molecular compounds of cometary ices serve as valuable knowledge into the chemical and physical properties of the outer solar nebula, where comets are formed. From the cometary atmospheres, the atoms and gas-phase molecules arise mainly in three ways:（i） the outgassing from the nucleus,（ii） the photochemical process, and（iii） the sublimation of icy grains from the nucleus. In this paper, we present the radio and millimeter wavelength observation results of Oort cloud non-periodic comet C/2022 E3（ZTF） using the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope（GMRT） band L and the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array（ALMA） band 6. We do not detect continuum emissions and an emission line of atomic hydrogen（H I） at rest frequency 1420 MHz from this comet using the GMRT. Based on ALMA observations, we detect the dust continuum emission and rotational emission lines of methanol（CH3OH） from comet C/2022 E3（ZTF）. From the dust continuum emission, the dust production（Afρ） activity of comet ZTF is 2280 ± 50 cm. Based on LTE spectral modeling, the column density and excitation temperature of CH3OH toward C/2022 E3（ZTF） are（4.50 ± 0.25） × 1014cm-2and 70 ± 3 K respectively. The integrated emission maps show that CH3OH was emitted from the coma region of the comet. The production rate of CH3OH toward C/2022 E3（ZTF） is（7.32 ± 0.64） × 1026molecules s-1. The fractional abundance of CH3OH with respect to H2O in the coma of the comet is 1.52%. We also compare our derived abundance of CH3OH with the existence modeled value, and we see the observed and modeled values are quite similar. We claim that CH3OH is formed via the subsequential hydrogenation of formaldehyde（H2CO） on the grain surface of comet C/2022 E3（ZTF）.
