die filling is a critical stage during powder compaction,which can significantly affect the product quality and *** this paper,a forced feeder is introduced attempting to improve the filling performance of a lab-scale die filling *** die filling process is analysed with a graphics processing units(GPU)enhanced discrete element method(dEM).Various stirrer designs are assessed for a wide range of process settings(i.e.,stirrer speed,filling speed)to explore their influence on the die filling performance of free-flowing *** results show that die filing with the novel helical-ribbon(i.e.,type d)stirrer design exhibits the highest filling ratio,implying that it is the most robust stirrer design for the feeder configuration ***,die filling performance with the type d stirrer design is a function of the stirrer speed and the filling speed.A positive variation of filling ratio(ηf>0%)can be ensured over the whole range of filling speed by adjusting the stirrer speed(i.e.,increasing the stirrer speed).The approach used in this study can not only help understand how the stirrer design affects the die filling performance but also guide the optimization of feeder system and process settings.

Introduction: The incidence of acute renal failure (ARF) varies between 20% and 40% of cases for COVId-19 patients admitted to the intensive care unit, with very high mortality, but heterogeneous according to the different epidemic waves, probably due to the genetic variant phenomenon of the virus. The aim of this study is to determine the morbidity and mortality of COVId-19 patients admitted with ARF to the intensive care unit of the Grand H?pital Est Francilien (GHEF) according to the waves and variants. Methods: Cross-sectional observational study of COVId-19 patients with ARF admitted to the intensive care unit of the GHEF site in Meaux covering the period from March 1st 2020 to december, 31st 2021. Per-hospitalisation and outcome data were collected and analysed with SPSS version 25.0 software using the Chi-square or Fischer’s exact test or Student’s t-test and logistic regression for p Results: A total of 86 patients were included. The mean age was higher (70 ± 8.5) in patients in the fourth wave than in the other waves (p = 0.015), with male predominance in all waves without significant difference. Co-morbidities: hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, dyslipidaemia and arrhythmia complete with fibrillation were present in all waves. The majority of patients were classified as KdIGO 1 for the different waves (1st: 61.9%, 2nd: 86.5%, 3rd: 80%, and 4th: 75%), with the same trend according to variant (alpha: 80%, beta: 75%, delta: 81.3%, omicron: 75%). Mortality by the wave was: 1st: 28.5%, 2nd: 37.5%, 3rd: 23% and 4th: 11%) and by variant: alpha: 24.2%, beta: 44.8%, delta: 20.7%, omicron: 10.3%). Overall mortality was 33.7%. Case fatality was higher in the fourth wave. Objectives:Otolaryngology-specific requirements were piloted to minimize applicant and program *** investigated the impact of introducing and then removing these requirements on Match ***:2014-2021 National Resident Matching Program?data were *** primary outcome was the impact of Otolaryngology Resident Talent Assessment(ORTA;prematch 2017,postmatch 2019)and Program-Specific Paragraph(PSP;implemented 2016,optional 2018)on applicant numbers and match *** survey analysis assessed candidate perceptions of PSP/***:Applicant numbers declined significantly during PSP/ORTA(18.9%;p=0.001).With the optional PSP and postmatch ORTA,applicant numbers increased significantly(39.0%;p=0.002).Examined individually,mandatory PSP was associated with a significant decline in applicants(p=0.007),whereas postmatch ORTA was associated with significant increases in applicants(p=0.010).ORTA and PSP negatively impacted the decision to apply to otolaryngology in 59.8%and 51.3%of applicants,***,match rate success improved significantly from 74.8%to 91.2%during PSP/ORTA(p=0.014),followed by a significant decline to 73.1%after PSP was made optional and ORTA moved to postmatch(p=0.002).Conclusions:ORTA and PSP correlated with decreased applicant numbers and increased match rate *** programs seek ways to remove barriers to applying to otolaryngology,the potential consequences of an increasing pool of unmatched candidates must also be considered.

We studied the effect of molybdenum (Mo) concentration on transcription and translation of a putative Mo-storage protein (Mop) in the freshwater heterocystous cyanobacterium, Nostoc sp. PCC 7120. Triplicate treatments were acclimated to 1, 150, and 3000 nM Mo over an 11-day period (three transfers) and then transferred into 3000 nM Mo media. Growth rates in 1 nM treatments declined throughout the acclimation period and increased significantly after the final transfer into media containing 3000 nM Mo. After acclimation, cellular Mo content was highest in 3000 nM Mo treatments, intermediate in 150 nM treatments and lowest in 1 nM treatments (70 ± 30, 10.0 ± 0.04 and 2 ± 1 mg·gˉ1 dry biomass, respectively). Cellular Mo content converged on values of 20-40 mg·gˉ1 dry biomass after the final transfer into 3000 nM. Mop transcription and translation were up-regulated in 1 nM Mo treatments during the acclimation period, and down-regulated after transfer into 3000 nM Mo. Mop protein expression was only observed in 1 nM treatments after multiple transfers;minimal Mop protein was observed in 150 and 3000 nM Mo treatments. These observations suggest that Mop does not store excess intracellular Mo in Nostoc sp. PCC 7120, but may serve an unknown physiological function in Mo-limited metabolism.
