We stud.ed.the effect of molybd.num (Mo) concentration on transcription and.translation of a putative Mo-storage protein (Mop) in the freshwater heterocystous cyanobacterium, Nostoc sp. PCC 7120. Triplicate treatments were acclimated.to 1, 150, and.3000 nM Mo over an 11-d.y period.(three transfers) and.then transferred.into 3000 nM Mo med.a. Growth rates in 1 nM treatments d.clined.throughout the acclimation period.and.increased.significantly after the final transfer into med.a containing 3000 nM Mo. After acclimation, cellular Mo content was highest in 3000 nM Mo treatments, intermed.ate in 150 nM treatments and.lowest in 1 nM treatments (70 ± 30, 10.0 ± 0.04 and.2 ± 1 mg·gˉ1 d.y biomass, respectively). Cellular Mo content converged.on values of 20-40 mg·gˉ1 d.y biomass after the final transfer into 3000 nM. Mop transcription and.translation were up-regulated.in 1 nM Mo treatments d.ring the acclimation period. and.d.wn-regulated.after transfer into 3000 nM Mo. Mop protein expression was only observed.in 1 nM treatments after multiple transfers;minimal Mop protein was observed.in 150 and.3000 nM Mo treatments. These observations suggest that Mop d.es not store excess intracellular Mo in Nostoc sp. PCC 7120, but may serve an unknown physiological function in Mo-limited.metabolism.

CURLY LEAF ( CLF) encod.s the methyltransferase subunit of the Polycomb Repressor Complex 2 (PRC2), which regulates the expression of target genes through H3K27 trimethylation. We isolated.a new CLF mutant allele ( clf-78) using a genetic screen d.signed.to id.ntify microRNA (miRNA) d.ficient mutants. CLF mutant plants showed.impaired.miRNA activity caused.by increased.ubiquitination and.enhanced.d.grad.tion of ARGONAUTE 1 (AGO1) in specific tissues. Such CLF-med.ated.AGO1 regulation was evid.nt when plants were exposed.to UV rad.ation, which caused.increased.susceptibility of clf mutants to some UV-ind.ced.responses. Furthermore, we showed.that CLF d.rectly regulates FBW2, which in turn triggers AGO1 d.grad.tion in the clf mutants. Interestingly, AGO1 bound.to a target appeared.particularly prone to d.grad.tion in the mutant plants, a process that was exacerbated.when the complex bound.a non-cleavable target. Thus, prolonged.AGO1–target interaction seems to favor AGO1 d.grad.tion, suggesting that non-cleavable miRNA targets may overcome translation inhibition by mod.lating AGO1 stability in plants.

The Angstr6m turbid.ty coefficient （β） and.Linke turbid.ty factor （TL） are used.to stud. the atmospheric cond.tions in Wuhan, Central China, using measureβd.d.rect solar rad.ation d.ring 2010-2011 in this stud.. The results show that annual mean β values generally increase from 0.28 in the morning to 0.35 at noon, and.then d.crease to 0.1 in the late afternoon d.ring the d.y; annual mean TL generally varies from 3 to 7 in Central China. Both turbid.ty coefficients have maximum values in spring and.summer, while minimum values are observed.in winter months. It also reveals that β values show prepond.rance （52.8%） between 0.15 and.0.35, 78.1% of TL values are between 3.3 and.7.7, which can be compared.with other sites around.the world. Relationship between turbid.ty coefficients and.main me- teorological parameters （humid.ty, temperature and.wind.d.rection） have been further investigated. it is d.scovered.that the local aerosol concentrations, d.st events in northern China and.Southwest Monsoon from the Ind.an Ocean influences the β values in the stud. area.

A new proced.re for blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) micropropagation in programmed.Temporary Immersion Bioreactors (TIBs based.on two separate bottles) was d.veloped.for the commercial genotypes Biloxi, Sharp Blue and.Brillita. Plant cultures were d.veloped.in a controlled.environment with 0.4 MPa CO2 enrichment, sucrose-red.ced.med.um, and.light intensity of 60 mM m-2·s-1. Principal component analysis showed.that component 1 (C1) grouped.64.08% of the total variability, while the first two components accounted.for 86.97%. Representation of the principal components d.monstrated.three clusters correspond.ng with the blueberry genotypes, and.within each cluster plants micropropagated.in agar-base med.um grouped.separately from those plants multiplied.in TIBs. Both plant number and.total internod.s traits (related.to the prod.ctive efficiency) were d.monstrated.superior in blueberries propagated.in TIBs. Ad.itionally, when transferred.to greenhouse cond.tions, blueberries propagated.in TIBs showed.higher ad.ptability and.growing rates than those cultured.by the conventional approach, altogether evid.ncing the occurrence of a photomixotrophic stage in the vitroplantlets cultured.in TIBs.
