Environmental Risk Assessment and Preventive Conservation Strategy for the Porch of the Glory, Santiago of Compostela Cathedral

In the framework of the Santiago of Compostela Cathedral program, a multidisciplinary investigation of the porch of the glory was carried out between 2009 and 2011 to identify the main environmental risks and to develop a preventive conservation planto be integrated in the general management strategy of the Cathedral. The study included historic and archivist research, structural studies, mineralogical analyses, biological sampling, cleaning tests and microclimatic monitoring. The main weathering factors and the related damage processes were identified. Results have shown that the main responsible for the observed damage was the infiltration of rainwater through the roof, due to cracks in the structure of the Cathedral. Other environmental factors having a remarkable impact on the state of conservation of the polychrome and its substrate were the solar radiation, the thermo-hygrometric cycles, the particle deposition and the biological growth. Solutions were suggested to improve the environmental conditions, thus reducing further damage.

Background:Pulmonary hamartoma(PH)is the most common benign pulmonary tumor usually presenting as a solitary,well-demarcated nodule composed of mature cartilage and adipose *** unusual histologic variants are challenging on clinic-radiologic and pathologic ***:We collected a multicentric,retrospective,consecutive series of 206 PH with clinical characteristics and histologic ***:Clinical data were in line with the literature demonstrating a male prevalence(2:1)and a median age of 61.6 *** median size of the nodule was 17.8 *** performed,SUVmax>2.5 at FdC-PET was evidenced in 4%of cases(5 out of 119)and was significantly associated with undifferentiated/myxoid *** histology showing chondroid or chondro-lipomatous PH was quoted in 186 cases(90%),while leiomyomatous and undifferentiated/myxoid variants were recorded in 20 cases(10%).The high rate of unusual variants on pathology is possibly related to a selection bias due to external consultations or surgical excision of the lesions lacking classic features at imaging ***:About 10% of PH may show unusual histology and SUVmax>2.5 at FdC-PET in 4%.These uncommon findings may challenge the correct recognition,raising some concerns in terms of differential diagnosis with several other mesenchymal tumors in the *** features should be kept in mind to achieve a correct diagnosis and avoid unnecessary invasive treatments.

We have recently reported enhanced frequencies of polyomavirus infection in post-mortem brain tissue of autistic patients compared to controls. To further explore potential contributions to neurodevelopmental disorders by polyomaviruses, we have employed specie-specific TaqMan assays to assess the prevalence and titres of BKV, JCV and SV40 inthe urines of 87 patients with autism spectrum disorder, 84 controls matched by sex and age with the autistic sample, 15 subjects with down syndrome and 13 fragile X individuals. Prevalence rates of urinary BKV infection were significantly greater in down syndrome and fragile X patients compared to autistic and control individuals (P d the presence of urinary genomes, viral titres resulted significantly higher among down syndrome patients (P d to controls, autism spectrum disorder and fragile X individuals, who did not significantly differ from each other. Our results are consistent with previous evidence supporting hampered immunological surveillance and/or immune deficits in fragile X and especially in down syndrome patients.

安东尼奥·奈格里在半个多世纪的政治实践与理论探索中一直致力于对社会本体论逻辑的研究。1960—1977年,奈格里基于泰勒制-福特制生产方式与工人斗争实践重新反思了阶级斗争、阶级构成和国家形式,确立了一种主体实践哲学。1977—1983年,奈格里在反思黑格尔辩证法的基础上,借鉴马基雅维利、斯宾诺莎、莱奥帕尔迪和马克思的内在性唯物主义逻辑重新探索了超越资本主义的替代方案。1983—1997年,流亡法国的奈格里深受福柯、德勒兹和加塔里等人的影响,进一步深化了自己的新社会主体理论。而新世纪以来,他与哈特合著的《帝国》系列三部曲则将他们对当代资本主义的批判推向高潮。

Background Soil-transmitted helminths (STH) affect approximately 1.5 billion people globally. The current STH control strategy is annual or twice-annual preventive chemotherapy, typically school-based deworming targeting children and women of reproductive age. Mathematical modeling suggests that it may be possible to interrupt STH transmission through high-coverage community-wide mass drug administration (cMdA). deWorm3 is a cluster randomized trial testing cMdA for prevalence reduction and transmission interruption. The purpose of this study is to describe coverage of cMdA in study clusters over time and correlates of coverage at individual and cluster *** From 2018-2020, deWorm3 delivered six rounds of cMdA with 400 mg albendazole at sites in Benin, India, and Malawi. We report coverage, treatment uptake, and directly observed therapy across all rounds. Factors associated with coverage at the cluster level were identified using binomial generalized estimating equations, while factors associated with non-treatment at the individual level were identified using binomial mixed-effects *** Coverage was high across all clusters and rounds, exceeding the WHO target of 75% in all sites and across all rounds (78% to 95%); cluster-level coverage tended to increase over time. Younger, unmarried, and migratory adults were more likely to be untreated at all sites; adult males were more likely to be untreated in Benin and Malawi. Among children, girls were more likely to be untreated, as were non-school-attending and migratory children. Higher adult education was associated with greater odds of non-treatment among adults, but lower odds among children in the household. BACKGROUNd Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome(IC/BPS)is an at least 6-mo noninfectious bladder inflammation of unknown origin characterized by chronic suprapubic,abdominal,and/or pelvic *** the term cystitis suggests an inflammatory or infectious origin,no definite cause has been *** occurs in both sexes,but women are twice as much *** To systematically review evidence of psychiatric/psychological changes in persons with IC/*** Hypothesizing that particular psychological characteristics could underpin IC/BPS,we investigated in three databases the presence of psychiatric symptoms and/or disorders and/or psychological characteristics in patients with IC/BPS using the following strategy:("interstitial cystitis"OR"bladder pain syndrome")ANd("mood disorder"OR depressive OR antidepressant OR depression OR depressed OR hyperthymic OR mania OR manic OR rapid cyclasterisk OR dysthymiasterisk OR dysphoriasterisk).RESULTS On September 27,2023,the PubMed search produced 223 articles,CINAHL 62,and the combined PsycLIT/PsycARTICLES/PsycINFO/Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection search *** on *** produced 14 studies,of which none had available *** were peer-reviewed articles reporting psychiatric/psychological symptoms in patients with IC/BPS,i.e.63 articles spanning from 2000 to October *** studies identified depression and anxiety problems in the IC/BPS population,along with sleep problems and the tendency to *** Psychotherapies targeting catastrophizing and life stress emotional awareness and expression reduced perceived pain in women with IC/*** concepts should be considered when implementing treatments aimed at reducing IC/BPS-related pain.
