Hexagonal ceO2 and Eu-doped ceO2 nanoparticles were obtained using a facile microwave-hydro thermal method under mild conditions and their application towards manganese redox flow battery component were studied. The structural properties were studied by X-ray diffraction and indicate that samples present a fluorite structure. Raman spectroscopy shows Eu3＋ ions substitute ce4＋ and generate oxygen vacancies. Electrochemical properties of pure and Eu-doped ceO2 films deposited at graphite substrates investigated by cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-discharge indicate that dopant concentration affects the electrochemical properties of ceO2. The increase in the reversibility redox of electrochemical systems observed is attributed to coexistence of ce4＋/ce3＋ redox couple confirmed by ***-discharge tests display coulombic and voltage efficiency values of above 80% and 90%, respectively. The obtained specific capacity for ce（0.99）Eu（0.01）O2（372.49 mAh/g） and pure oxide（334.84 mAh/g）indicates that both samples are promising for application in Mn-batteries.

AIM:To evaluate the feasibility and the outcome of endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR)for large colorectal tumors exceeding 4 cm(LcRT)undergoing piecemeal resection. METHODS:From January 2005 to April 2008,146 digestive tumors larger than 2 cm were removed with the EMR technique in our *** these,34 tumors were larger than 4 cm and piecemeal resection was carried out on 26 colorectal *** mean age of the patients was 71 *** mean follow-up duration was 12 mo. RESULTS:LcRTs were located in the rectum,left colon,transverse colon and right colon in 58%,15%, 4%and 23%of cases,*** were sessile tumors larger than 4 cm with a mean size of 4.9 cm (4-10 cm).According to the Paris classification,34%of the tumors were typeⅠs,58%typeⅡa,4%typeⅡb and 4%typeⅡ*** examination showed tubulous adenoma in 31%,tubulo-villous adenoma in 27%,villous adenoma in 42%,high-grade dysplasia in38%,in situ carcinoma in 19%of the cases and mucosal carcinoma(m2)in 8%of the *** two cases(7.7%)of procedural bleeding that occurred were managed endoscopically and one small perforation was treated with *** follow-up,recurrence of the tumor occurred in three patients(12%),three of whom received endoscopic treatment. cONcLUSION:EMR for tumors larger than 4 cm is a safe and effective procedure that could compete with endoscopic submucosal dissection,despite providing incomplete histological assessment.

The Iberian Peninsula was first inhabited by celts, Iberians, carthaginians, Romans, Visigoths, and later Berbers. How is it possible that in a spam of only 50 years, the Berbers were able to go pass the Pyrenees and practically ruled what today is Portugal, Spain, and region of France？ This article attempts to uncover the sociological aspects that helped the Berbers and Arabs rule the Iberian Peninsula quite rapidly. It was due to the commonalities and not the differences that Spain＇s political leaders went from Arian Visigoths to Muslims for the next 800 years. Ignacio Olague＇s book La Revoluci6n Isldmica en Occidente （The Islamic Revolution in the West）, also translated as Les Arabes N＇ont Jamais Envahi l＇Espagne （The Arabs Never Invaded Spain）, serves as one instrument to shed light to how this historical event took place. The result of this fusion of cultures not only created a rich civilization that would planted the seeds of the Renaissance three centuries before it began in Italy, but also contributed to the formation of a new language （between 720-750 AD）： El castellano o espahol （Spanish language）, which today is the official language in 21 st countries.

This paper focuses on current theoretical research in second language education and on how the Language Awareness Approach, specifically, is key to successful second language teaching. LAA methodology gives students the tools and confidence to internalize the second language for the long term. Through the Language Awareness Approach, students become highly motivated self-learners, expertly analyzing the syntax of their native language as well as that of the second language. As students become more skilled in understanding how language works, they are able to internalize the new language and make it their own. Eventually, students do not have to ＂change the chip to the target language＂ when they walk through the classroom door.

Disease-resistant genes play an important role in defending against a variety of pathogens and insect pests in plants. Most of the disease-resistant genes encode pro- teins with conserved leucine rich repeat and nucleotide binding site domains. In this study, we cloned and char- acterized gene-resistant analogs （RGAs） from Eucalyptus grandis using degenerate PcR, with primers specifically targeting these two domains. The amplified fragments were cloned into the pGEM-T vector and transformed into Escherichia coli. Among the 90 clones obtained, 13 were sequenced and compared with each other and with previ- ously identified gene-resistant diseases. A BLASTX search in GenBank revealed high similarities among the con- served domains of these cloned genes with RGA genes. Some clones, however, showed no significant similarity with DNA sequences in GenBank. Southern blotting ana- lysis identified several polymorphic RFLP loci between distinct genotypes. However, none of them co-segregated with the Puccinia psidii Winter resistance gene 1 （Ppr1） in a population study.

colorectal cancer(cRc) constitutes the third most frequently reported malignancy in the male population and the second most common in women in the last two decades. colon carcinogenesis is a complex, multifactorial event, resulting from genetic and epigenetic aberrations, the impact of environmental factors, as well as the disturbance of the gut microbial ecosystem. The relationship between the intestinal microbiome and carcinogenesis was relatively undervalued in the last decade. However, its remarkable effect on metabolic and immune functions on the host has been in the spotlight as of recent years. There is a strong relationship between gut microbiome dysbiosis, bowel pathogenicity and responsiveness to anti-cancer treatment;including immunotherapy. Modifications of bacteriome consistency are closely associated with the immunologic response to immunotherapeutic agents. This condition that implies the necessity of gut microbiome manipulation. Thus, creatingan optimal response for cRc patients to immunotherapeutic agents. In this paper, we will review the current literature observing how gut microbiota influence the response of immunotherapy on cRc patients.

AIM:To evaluate the safety and efficacy of vitamin E in children with chronic hepatitis ***:We randomly assigned patients with chronic hepatitis B,positive for hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg),to receive either vitamin E or placebo once daily for 6 mo in a 3:1 ratio and double-blind *** primary end point was HBeAg seroconversion,defined as the loss of HBeAg,undetectable levels of serum hepatitis B virus DNA,and the appearance of antibodies against HBeAg 12 mo after ***:At baseline visit,49 patients had normal and 43 had increased serum aminotransferase ***-nine patients did not respond to previous treatment with interferon-α or ***-six children completed the study;16 were non-compliant(n = 7),lost to follow-up(n = 7),or started another antiviral treatment(n = 3).Intention-to-treat analysis showed HBeAg seroconversion in 16 children(23.2%) treated with vitamin E and two(8.7%) in the placebo group(P = 0.13).Vitamin E was well ***:There is only a tendency that vitamin E may promote HBeAg *** larger studies are needed to clarify the role of antioxidants in the therapy of chronic hepatitis B.

In recent decades, there have been frequent occurrences of the cyanobacterium cylindrospermopsis raciborskii in northeastern Brazil. Little is known regarding the response of straight and coiled morphotypes to environmental conditions such as light intensity and water temperature. Samples were collected at the Mundaú reservoir (PE, Brazil) at six sampling depths in the dry and rainy season. Both morphotypes exhibited seasonal and vertical differences in densities. The reservoir was stratified in the dry season, with a predominance of the straight morphotype. The coiled morphotype exhibited greater densities in the lower strata and prove to be more susceptible to light. There was evident thermal de-stratification in the rainy season, with a predominance of the coiled morphotype in the surface layers. Thermal de-stratification favors an increase in both morphotypes by providing adequate conditions for growth, such as low light intensity and milder temperatures, which are characteristic of the winter season in the northeastern Brazil.

It is reported for the first time in Brazil and South America the presence of cylindrospermopsin (cYN) in water supply reservoirs. cYN is a powerful hepatotoxic alkaloid implicated in outbreaks of human sicknesses. We detected cYN in different sources of water in Northeastern Brazil using molecular and immunological techniques. The highest concentrations of toxin occurred in the Jucazinho reservoir with the phytoplankton containing the potentially cYN-producing c. raciborskii and Sphaerospermopsis aphanizomenoides (previously known as Aphanizomenon aphanizomenoides). The polyketide synthase (PKS) and peptide synthetase (PS), which are directly related to the ability to produce cYN, were found in all the analyzed samples. The result of the present study emphasizes the need to improve monitoring of cYN in water bodies used for drinking and recreation, in order to avoid exposure of human populations to this toxin.
