Background: The ExcelsiusGPS?(Globus medical, Inc., Audubon, PA) is a next-generation spine surgery robotic system recently approved for use in the United States. The objective of the current study is to assess pedicle screw accuracy and clinical outcomes among two of the first operative cases utilizing the ExcelsiusGPS?robotic system and describe a novel metric to quantify screw deviation. methods: Two patients who underwent lumbar fusion at a single institution with the ExcelsiusGPS?surgical robot were included. Pre-operative trajectory planning was performed from an intra-operative CT scan using the O-arm (medtronic, Inc., minneapolis, mN). After robotic-assisted screw implantation, a post-operative CT scan was obtained to confirm ideal screw placement and accuracy with the planned trajectory. A novel pedicle screw accuracy algorithm was devised to measure screw tip/tail deviation distance and angular offset on axial and sagittal planes. Screw accuracy was concurrently determined by a blinded neuroradiologist using the traditional Gertzbein-Robbins method. Clinical variables such as symptomatology, operative data, and post-operative follow-up were also collected. Results: Eight pedicle screws were placed in two L4-L5 fusion cases. mean screw tip deviation was 2.1 mm (range 0.8-5.2 mm), mean tail deviation was 3.2 mm (range 0.9-5.4 mm), and mean angular offset was 2.4 degrees (range 0.7-3.8 degrees). All eight screws were accurately placed based on the Gertzbein-Robbins scale (88% Grade A and 12% Grade B). There were no cases of screw revision or new post-operative deficit. Both patients experienced improvement in Frankel grade and Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) score by 6 weeks post-op. Conclusion: The ExcelsiusGPS? robot allows for precise execution of an intended pre-planned trajectory and accurate screw placement in the first patients to undergo robotic-assisted fusion with this technology.

Effect of La^(3+)substitution on structural,microstructure,magnetic properties,and microwave absorbing ability of yttrium iron garnet

Synthesis and characterization of lanthanum-doped yttrium iro n garnet(YIG)in the compositional se ries of Y_(3-x)La_(x)Fe_(5)O_(12)(x=0.0,0.1,0.3,and 0.5)were carried *** compositions were made by using solid state reaction method with ball-milling *** phase formation,surface morphology,magnetic properties,and microwave absorbing ability of all compositions were characterized by using an X-ray diffractometer,a scanning electron microscope,a vibrating sample magnetometer,and a Vector network *** results reveal that all compositions are crystallized into Y_(3)Fe_(5)O_(12)phase(space group la-3d(230).It was observed that the lattice constant is increased from 1.2373 to 1.2421 nm with the increase of lanthanum substitution level from x=*** crystallite size of Y_(3-x)La_(x)Fe_(5)O_(12)series calculated by Scherrer method is found to decrease from 78 nm in x=0.0-63 nm in x=*** particle size distribution from the surface morphology image analysis is shifted to lower-range number with the increase of lanthanum substitution level from x=0.0 to *** substitution process also affects the lattice distortion in La-doped samples and changes the bond angles and bond lengths of the YIG *** the results,a linear correlation between the Fe'-O-Fe bond angle with magnetic properties parameters of saturation magnetization(m_(s))and remanence magnetization(m_(r))was *** to the lanthanum substitution process,all La^(3+)-doped samples possess higher m_(s)and m_(r)values compared to the original *** results of Vector network analyzer show that the improvement of the m_(s)and m_(r)plays an important role in enhancing the microwave absorbing ability of the *** minimum RL changes from-8.22 dB(~85.22%microwave absorption)in x=0.0 to-14.21 dB(~96.25%microwave absorption)in x=*** enhancement is mainly ascribed to the natural magnetic resonance loss and dipoIe-polarization loss due to the substitution *** decr

New Relationship for Estimation of Wave Overtopping on Vertical Walls

Soft computing tools in the form of combination of multiple nonlinear regression and m5′ model tree were used for estimation of overtopping rate at the vertical coastal structures. For reliable and precise estimation of overtopping rate, the experimental data available in the database CLASH were used. The dimensionless overtopping rate was estimated in terms of conventional dimensionless parameters including the relative crest freeboard Rc/Hs, seabed slope tanθ, deep water wave steepness S（om）, surf similarity ξ（om） and local relative water depth ht/Hs. The accuracy of the new model was compared with other existing models and also evaluated with some field measurements. The results indicated that the model presented in this paper is more accurate than other existing models. With statistical parameters, it is shown that the accuracy of predictions in the new model is better than that of other models.

Weani ng from mechanical ventilation in the in tensive care unit (ICU) is a complex clinical problem and relevant for future organ engineering. Prolonged mechanical ventilation (mV) leads to a range of medical complications that increases length of stay and costs as well as contributes to morbidity and even mortality and long-term quality of life. The need to reduce mV is both clinical and economical. Artificial intelligence or machine learning (mL) methods are promising opportunities to positively influence patient outcomes. mL methods have been proposed to enhance clinical decisions processes by using the large amount of digital information generated in the ICU setting. There is a particular interest in empirical methods (such as mL) to improve management of "difficult-to-wean" patients, due to the associated costs and adverse events associated with this population. A systematic literature search was performed using the OVID, IEEEXplore, Pubmed, and Web of Science databases. All publications that included (1) the application of mL to weaning from mV in the ICU and (2) a clinical outcome measurement were reviewed. A checklist to assess the study quality of medical mL publications was modified to suit the critical assessment of mL in mV weaning literature. The systematic search identified nine studies that used mL for weaning management from mV in critical care. The weaning management application areas included (1) prediction of successful spontaneous breathing trials (SBTs),(2) prediction of successful extubation,(3) prediction of arterial blood gases, and (4) ventilator setting and oxygenation-adjustment advisory systems. Seven of the nine studies scored seven out of eight on the quality index. The remaining two of the nine studies scored one out of eight on the quality index. 红土镍储量在世界范围内十分丰富,占镍总产量的70%,而硫化镍占30%。对于处理镍红土矿石,高压酸浸(HPAL)技术是一种成熟的湿法冶金处理方法。该研究通过锥形球磨机研磨褐铁矿评估了红土镍矿的研磨特性,并考察硅酸钠、碳酸钠、乙醇、氢氧化钠和六偏磷酸钠等五种不同磨矿助剂进行湿磨时的浮选效果。主要结论如下:(1)XRD分析表明该红土镍矿具有良好的结晶相,主要化合物为针铁矿和磁铁矿。根据研磨特性的粒度分布,中间粒度部分(+38-150 m)在湿磨样品的粒度分布中具有中等频率。(2)未加入添加剂的镍褐铁矿粉磨仅获得1.2 wt%的镍品位和0.68 wt%的镁品位。添加不同类型的添加剂,镍品位从1.27 wt%提高到1.68%,添加1500g/t硅酸钠添加剂效果最佳,镍品位为1.68 wt%。添加不同类型的添加剂,镁品位从0.78 wt%提高到1.92 wt%,加入3000g/t硅酸钠添加剂时效果最佳。在加入碳酸钠时所得研磨浆料的粘度为505 m Pa.s,浆料粘度对研磨的影响与温度成反比,粘度随温度升高而降低。(3)未加入添加剂的镍褐铁矿浮选仅得到1.2 wt%的镍品位和46.84 wt%的铁品位。添加不同类型添加剂时镍品位从1.29 wt%提高到1.4 wt%,最佳条件为添加100g/t硅酸钠。加入添加剂可使铁品位从50.47 wt%提高到51.23 wt%,最佳条件为加入350g/t硅酸钠。添加300g/t乙醇时,镍回收率从20.02%提高到33.94%;添加150g/t硅酸钠时,铁回收率从20.06%提高到32.21%。论文研究结果可为工业上红土镍矿磨矿特性的改善和研磨浆料浮选性能的优化提供参考。全文图37幅,表11个,参考文献77篇
