Aquifer thermal energy storage is a versatile method for regulating building temperatures,utilizing groundwater as a medium for both summer cooling and winter *** has high thermal conductivity and specific heat but is corrosive,creating a mineral build-up that causes ***,its high freezing point presents operational *** oils emerge as a promising alternative,owing to their lower freezing *** light of environmental concerns,researchers are exploring vegetable oils as substitutes for petroleum-derived mineral *** paper is intended as an initial study using vegetable oils,*** and sunflower oil,as the heat-transfer medium in aquifer thermal energy *** experiments assess the heat-transfer coefficient of coconut,sunflower,mineral,and synthetic oils when exposed to the same heat *** study also evaluates the impact of introducing micro-carbon(graphite and charcoal)to the *** indicate that sunflower oil has the highest heat-transfer coefficient of 374.4 W/m^(2) K among the oils,making it suitable for aquifer thermal energy storage ***,augmenting sunflower oil with charcoal powder enhances its performance by increasing the heat-transfer coefficient to 474.9 W/m^(2) K,or a 27%*** contrast,coconut oil proves unsuitable for aquifer thermal energy storage deployment because of its low heat-transfer coefficient of 293.7 W/m^(2) *** heat-transfer coefficient of synthetic oil increases with graphite powder but decreases with charcoal powder introduction.

exploring the Limits of a Deflection-Based Method for the estimation of Dynamic Stress in Beams

estimation of the dynamic stress in structures,such as beams and plates,has previously been made using the relationship between stress and velocity spatial maxima based on far-field *** paper presents a method for the estimation of dynamic stress in a beam using euler–Bernoulli beam theory,where deflection data from a grid of measurement points on the surface of the beam is used to estimate the dynamic bending stress in the *** limitations of the method are investigated via response data provided by a numerical model of a freefree beam.A nondimensional wavenumber analysis is used to determine the number of points required for an accurate estimate of *** with a range of material and geometric parameters are modeled in order to explore the limits of the estimation method,and parameters representative of several real-world materials are used to assess the suitability of the method for practical applications.

With plenty of popular and effective ternary organic solar cells(OSCs)construction strategies proposed and applied,its power conversion efficiencies(PCes)have come to a new level of over 19%in single-junction ***,previous studies are heavily based in chloroform(CF)leaving behind substantial knowledge deficiencies in understanding the influence of solvent choice when introducing a third ***,we present a case where a newly designed asymmetric small molecular acceptor using fluoro-methoxylated end-group modification strategy,named BTP-BO-3FO with enlarged bandgap,brings different morphological evolution and performance improvement effect on host system PM6:BTP-eC9,processed by CF and ortho-xylene(o-XY).With detailed analyses supported by a series of experiments,the best PCe of 19.24%for green solvent-processed OSCs is found to be a fruit of finely tuned crystalline ordering and general aggregation motif,which furthermore nourishes a favorable charge generation and recombination ***,over 19%PCe can be achieved by replacing spin-coating with blade coating for active layer *** work focuses on understanding the commonly met yet frequently ignored issues when building ternary blends to demonstrate cutting-edge device performance,hence,will be instructive to other ternary OSC works in the future.

This article analyzes the transmission line characteristics of plasmonic hybrid metal insulator metal(HMIM) wave-guide, circular ring resonator(CRR) based dual-band band-pass filters with two transmission poles in both pass-bands in the optical regime using coupled line feed. The transmission line characteristics of an HMIM waveguide, such as characteristic impedance(Z_(PV)), effective refractive index(n_(eff)) and propagation length(L_(spp)), have been obtained by using full wave simulation.

Semitransparent organic photovoltaics(STOPVs)have gained wide attention owing to their promising applications in building-integrated photovoltaics,agrivoltaics,and floating *** semiconductors with high charge carrier mobility usually have planar and conjugated structures,thereby showing strong absorption in visible *** this work,a new concept of incorporating transparent inorganic semiconductors is proposed for high-performance ***(I)thiocyanate(CuSCN)is a visible-transparent inorganic semiconductor with an ionization potential of 5.45 eV and high hole *** transparency of CuSCN benefits high average visible transmittance(AVT)of *** energy levels of CuSCN as donor match those of near-infrared small molecule acceptor BTP-eC9,and the formed heterojunction exhibits an ability of exciton *** mobility of CuSCN contributes to a more favorable charge transport channel and suppresses charge *** control STOPVs based on PM6/BTP-eC9 exhibit an AVT of 19.0%with a power conversion efficiency(PCe)of 12.7%.Partial replacement of PM6 with CuSCN leads to a 63%increase in transmittance,resulting in a higher AVT of 30.9%and a comparable PCe of 10.8%.

BACKGROUND Total mesorectal excision remains the gold standard for the management of rectal cancer however local excision of early rectal cancer is gaining popularity due to lower morbidity and higher acceptance by the elderly and frail *** To investigate the results of local excision of rectal cancer by transanal endoscopic microsurgery(TeMS)approach carried out at three large cancer centers in the United *** TeMS database was retrospectively reviewed to assess demographics,operative findings and post operative clinical and oncological *** is a retro-spective review of the prospective databases,which included all patients operated with TeMS approach,for early rectal cancer(Node-negative T1-T2),selected T3 in unfit/frail *** Two hundred and twenty-two patients underwent TeMS *** included 144 males(64.9%)and 78 females(35.1%),Median age was 71 *** median distance of the tumours from the anal verge 4.5 *** tumour size was 2.6 *** most frequent operative position of the patient was lithotomy(32.3%),Full-thickness rectal wall excision was done in 204 *** operating time was 90 *** blood loss was *** were two 90-day *** excision of the tumour with free microscopic margins by>1mm were accomplished in 171 patients(76.7%).Salvage total mesorectal excision was performed in 42 patients(19.8%).Median disease-free survival was 65 months(range:3-146 months)(82.8%),and median overall survival was 59 months(0-146 months).CONCLUSION TeMS provides a promising option for early rectal cancers(Large adenomas-cT1/cT2N0),and selected therapy-responding ***-thickness complete excision of the tumour is mandatory to avoid jeopardising the oncological outcomes.

Simplified seismic scenario analysis of existing masonry buildings accounting for local site effects

This study discusses the effects of local sites and hazard amplification on the seismic vulnerability assessment of existing masonry *** this context,a rapid seismic evaluation procedure was implemented on an old masonry building stock in the historical center Galata,located inİstanbul,to determine the seismic risk priority of the built *** scenarios were generated for all soil classes,different moment magnitudes,and source-to-site distances to obtain more accurate results for the seismic vulnerability assessment of the studied building ***,damage distributions estimated under nine different scenarios with/without site effects were compared and illustrated in maps to discuss changes in vulnerability owing to amplification *** this study,by re-examining the rapid seismic evaluation procedure by including geo-hazard-based assessment,the importance of site effects on the vulnerability and risk assessment of built heritage was *** proposed framework integrating field data and local site effects is believed to advance the current applications for vulnerability assessment of masonry buildings and provide an improvement in the application of rapid seismic assessment procedures with more reliable results.

Investigating the impact of the universal function of the nuclear proximity potential in heavy-ion fusion cross sections

The fusion barriers and cross sections of 15 colliding systems with 320≤Z_(1)Z_(2)≤1512 are investigated in detail to understand the influence of the universal function of proximity potential formalism in the heavy-ion fusion *** realize this goal,we select three versions of the phenomenological proximity potentials,including Prox.77,Zhang 2013,and Guo 2013,to calculate the nucleus-nucleus *** experimental fusion cross sections for the selected reactions are analyzed using the standard coupled-channel calculations,including couplings to the low-lying 2^(+)and 3^(-)states in the target and *** calculated results show that the universal functions of the Guo 2013 and Prox.77 models provide the lowest and highest fusion barriers,*** addition,it is found that the height of the fusion barriers is enhanced by increasing the mass number of the projectile from light to heavy *** highest sensitivity to the mass number of the projectile belongs to the results of Prox.77.A discussion is also presented on the influence of the universal function on the radial behavior of the interaction potential in the allowed region for overlapping *** results reveal that the best fit to the experimental data of the fusion cross sections for the reactions involving light and medium nuclei is obtained using the universal function of the Zhang 2013 *** the heavier systems,the results of the Guo 2013 model at sub-barrier energies provide a good description of the available data.

Are hydrides under high-pressure-high-temperature superconductors?

Contrary to the current consensus, I argue that the existing evidence for high-temperature superconductivity in hydrides under high pressure is not compelling. I suggest that the focus of the field should urgently shift to establish unequivocally experimentally whether or not superconductivity in pressurized hydrides exists, instead of continuing to search for new materials that might show elusive signals of unproven superconductivity at ever higher temperatures. The implications of a negative finding for the theoretical understanding of superconductivity are discussed.
