Arylalkylamine N-acetyltransferase(aaNAT),considered a potential new insecticide target,catalyzes the acetylation of arylalkylamine substrates such as serotonin and dopamine and,hence,mediates diverse functions in ***,the origin of insect aaNATs(iaaNATs)and the evolutionary process that generates multiple aaNATs in mosquitoes remain largely ***,we have analyzed the genomes of 33 species to explore and expand our understanding of the molecular evolution of this gene family in *** show that aaNAT orthologs are present in Bacteria,Cephalochordata,Chondrichthyes,Cnidaria,Crustacea,Mammalia,Placozoa,and Teleoste,as well as those from a number of insects,but are absent in some species of Annelida,Echinozoa,and Mollusca as well as ***,more than 10 aaNATs were detected in the Culicinae subfamily of *** evolutionary analysis of aaNAT/aaNAT-like genes in mosquitoes reveals that tandem duplication events led to gene expansion in the Culicinae subfamily of mosquitoes more than 190 million years *** selection analysis demonstrates that mosquito aaNATs evolved under strongly positive pressures that generated functional diversity following gene duplication ***,this study may provide novel insights into the molecular evolution of the aaNAT family in mosquitoes.

The Great Rann of Kachchh, a vast expanse of salt desert in Western India is a unique hostile ecosystem posing an extreme environment to life forms due to high salt content, hyper-axid climate, seasonal water logging and extremes of temperature. In the virtual absence of natural vegetation, soils and sediments of Rann of Kachchh axe microbially dominated ecosystems. In the present study microbial activity and the diversity of cultivated heterotrophic bacteria were investigated in the sediments collected along a 5-m exposed section at Khadir Island in the Great Rann of Kachchh. Microbial activity （as an index of sediment enzymes） was found to be high in the middle of the section （200-280 cm）. Dehydrogenase （DHA）, substrate-induced DHA and alkaline phosphatase activities revealed the oligotrophic nature of the basal portion （320-480 cm）. Abundant bacterial isolates obtained from different depths were found to be clustered in 12 different phylogenetic groups by amplified ribosomal DNA restriction analysis. 16S rRNA gene sequencing revealed the dominant bacterial ribotypes to be affiliated to Firmicutes （Families Bacillaceae and Staphyloeoccaeeae） and Aetinobaeteria （Family Brevibaeteriaceae） with minor contribution of Proteobacteria （Families Phyllobacteriaeeae and Bartonellaceae）, pointing their endurance and adaptability to environmental stresses. Statistical analysis indicated that sediment organic carbon, salinity, total available nitrogen and total available phosphorous are most likely critical determinants of microbial activity in the Khadir Island sediments.

Isoquinolinium bromochromate:An efficient and stable reagent for bromination of hydroxylated aromatic compounds and oxidation of alcohols

The new chromium （VI） oxidizing reagent isoquinolinium bromochromate （IQBC） was prepared and characterized. The IQBC has been found to be stable and an efficient solid reagent which can be easily prepared in good yield. It act as an efficient brominating reagent for hydroxylated aromatic compounds as well as good oxidizing reagent for the conversion of alcohols to carbonyl compounds in good to excellent yield. The synthesized isoquinolinium bromochromate is more ideal reagent, with number of specification including： higher yield, mild conditions and easy preparation. The results obtained with isoquinolinium bromochromate are satisfactory and suggest that the reagent has few advantages over the existing chromium （VI） reagents.

Power system operations can be optimized using power electronics based FACTS devices. The location of these devices at appropriate transmission line plays a major role in their performance. In this paper, two bio-inspired algorithms are used to optimally locate two FACTS devices: UPFC and STATCOM, so as to reduce the voltage collapse and real power losses. Particle swarm optimization and BAT algorithms are chosen as their behaviour is similar. VCPI index is used as a metric to calculate the voltage collapse scenario of the power system. The algorithm is tested on two benchmark power systems: IEEE 118 and the Indian UPSEB 75 bus system. Performance metrics are compared with the system without FACTS devices. Application of PSO and BAT algorithms to optimally locate the FACTS devices reduces the VCPI index and real power losses in the system.

The Artificial Neural Network (ANN) approach has been successfully used in many hydrological studies especially the rainfall-runoff modeling using continuous data. The present study examines its applicability to model the event-based rainfall-runoff process. A case study has been done for Ajay river basin to develop event-based rainfall-runoff model for the basin to simulate the hourly runoff at Sarath gauging site. The results demonstrate that ANN models are able to provide a good representation of an event-based rainfall-runoff process. The two important parameters, when predicting a flood hydrograph, are the magnitude of the peak discharge and the time to peak discharge. The developed ANN models have been able to predict this information with great accuracy. This shows that ANNs can be very efficient in modeling an event-based rainfall-runoff process for determining the peak discharge and time to the peak discharge very accurately. This is important in water resources design and management applications, where peak discharge and time to peak discharge are important input

Earnings management has attracted lots of academicians towards the research due to the emerging frauds and downfall of great corporate giants of the world. Mainly earnings measurement is based on the accounting estimates which managers can easily manipulate for their self-interest. The study investigates the relationship between cost of capital and the earnings measurement for the Indian firms. Measurement of earnings is mostly computed by taking either discretionary accruals （DAC） or non-discretionary accruals （NDAC）. Present study has used Dechow, Sloan, and Sweeney （1995） model for earnings measurement and for analyzing the results. Panel data regression has also been used. Findings of the study conclude that DAC has a significant influence on cost of capital, but NDAC has no influence.

Hypoparathyroidism leading to hypocalcaemia is an important treatable cause of recurrent seizures. Neurological manifestations due to hypoparathyroidism include: seizures, paresthesia, depression, psychosis, extra pyramidal symptoms, and features of raised intracranial pressure. Seizures may be the presenting symptoms preceding other signs of hypocalcaemia. Primary hypoparathyroidism presenting for the first time as seizures in the elderly is quite rare. Here we report two cases of hypoparathyroidism presenting with seizures in the elderly as the sole manifestation of hypocalcaemia. The goal of this report is to seek attention to such an uncommon reversible treatable cause of seizures and to consider hypoparathyroidism in the work up of these patients.

Technology has no limits today;we have lots of software available in the market by which we can alter any image. People usually copies image from the internet and after some changes they claim that these are their own properties. Insuring digital image integrity has therefore become a major issue. Over the past few years, watermarking has emerged as the leading candidate to solve problems of ownership and content authentications for digital multimedia documents. To protect authenticity of images semi fragile watermarking is very concerned by researchers because of its important function in multimedia content authentication. The aim of this paper is to present a survey and a comparison of emerging techniques for image authentication using semifragile watermarking. In present paper comprehensive overview of insertion and extraction methods used in different semi fragile water marking algorithm are studied using image parameters, potential application, different algorithms are described and focus is on their comparison according to the properties cited above and future directions for developing a better image authentication algorithm are suggested.
