A FIELD STUDY SETUP OF FOUR HOMES HAVING NON-VENTILATED AND SEMI-CONDITIONED SEALED ATTICS

The University of Florida(UF)and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory(ORNL)are evaluating the hygrothermal(heat and moisture flow)performance and durability of sealed attic construction where open cell spray polyurethane foam(ocSPF)insulation is applied directly to the underside of the roof *** the 2015-2016 fiscal year and with financial support from the Florida Building Commission(FBC)and the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association(FRSA),UF and the ORNL Building Technology Research Integration Center(BTRIC)completed Phase I of a study that setup four residential home demonstrations in Florida climate zones CZ-1A and *** measurements for the homes are listed in Table *** four homes are instrumented for measuring temperature and relative humidity of the indoor living space,the outdoor air and the attic *** addition,the temperature,relative humidity and moisture content of the roof sheathing are being monitored and recorded by remotely-accessible data acquisition *** leakage tests on the whole house,on the sealed attic and in the HVAC ducts were conducted on all four homes,Table *** and infrared images were captured to document the thermal performance of the sealed *** tests commenced on June 1,*** acquisition will continue for one full year to document heat and moisture flows,which,in turn will be used in a second phase of work to benchmark an analytical tool kit for predicting the heat and moisture flows in Florida’s hot and humid *** second phase of work is pending approval by the FBC.

Clinical utility of anti-p53 auto-antibody: Systematic review and focus on colorectal cancer

Mutation of the p53 gene is a key event in the carcinogenesis of many different types of tumours. These can occur throughout the length of the p53 gene. Anti-p53 auto-antibodies are commonly produced in response to these p53 mutations. This review firstly describes the various mechanisms of p53 dysfunction and their association with subsequent carcinogenesis. Following this, the mechanisms of induction of anti-p53 auto-antibody production are shown, with various hypotheses for the discrepancies between the presence of p53 mutation and the presence/absence of anti-p53 auto-antibodies. A systematic review was performed with a descriptive summary of key findings of each anti-p53 auto-antibody study in all cancers published in the last 30 years. Using this, the cumulative frequency of anti-p53 autoantibody in each cancer type is calculated and then compared with the incidence of p53 mutation in each cancer to provide the largest sample calculation and correlation between mutation and anti-p53 auto-antibody published to date. Finally, the review focuses onthe data of anti-p53 auto-antibody in colorectal cancer studies, and discusses future strategies including the potentially promising role using anti-p53 auto-antibody presence in screening and surveillance.

A projectile system is proposed to improve efficiency and effectiveness of damage done by anti-tank weapon system on its target by designing a ballistic projectile that can split into multiple warheads and engage a target at the same time. This idea has been developed in interest of saving time consumed from the process of reloading and additional number of rounds wasted on target during an attack. The proposed system is achieved in three steps: Firstly, a mathematical model is prepared using the basic equations of motion. Second, An Ejection Mechanism of proposed warhead is explained with the help of schematics. Third, a part of numerical simulation which is done using the MATLAB software. The final result shows various ranges and times when split can be effectively achieved. With the new system,impact points are increased and hence it has a better probability of hitting a target.

Prevalence of Bacillus *** the biofilm forming community on Ti surface in marine environment

Prevalence of bacterial species involved in biomineralization of manganese on titanium （Ti） surfaces in marine environment was revealed in this research work. This study involves one year sea water exposure of Ti and their periodical biofilm characterization was carried out to quantify the manganese oxidizing bacterial （MOB） presence in the biofilm formed on titanium surfaces. The total viable count study of Ti coupons exposed to sea water for one year resulted in 60% of the MOB in overall biofilm population. The biochemical characterization of MOB isolates were performed for the genus level identifcation of the seven bacterial isolates. Further, the seven strains were subjected to 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Evolutionary analysis was performed using MEGA 7 to obtain closely related strains within the groups. The manganese oxidizing ability of the bacterial isolates were determined with Leucoberbelin Blue Assay （LBB） and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy studies （hAS）. The results show that among the isolated marine MOB species, Bacillus sp. and Leptothrix sp. have the maximum Mn oxidizing property. The microtitre plate assay was performed to determine the biofilm forming ability of the isolated marine MOB species. All the results have confirmed the prevalence of Bacillus sp. among the biofilm colonizers on Ti surfaces when exposed in sea water.

Effects of multiple subcavities with floor subcavity in supersonic cavity flow

Experimental and computational analysis has been carried out by many researchers on supersonic cavity flow,but detailed analysis based on Rossiter’s model still requires some *** the current study an open rectangular cavity with a length to depth ratio of 2(L/D=2)and Mach number at the inlet as 1.71,was considered as a baseline configuration for experimental *** techniques such as power spectral density(PSD),correlation,and overall sound pressure level(OASPL)were carried out on the unsteady pressure data,to analyze the aero-acoustic flow ***-speed schlieren images were processed to obtain spatially coherent modes by proper orthogonal decomposition(POD).The analysis was extended for different dimensions of subcavities on the aft,floor,and front *** detailed analysis of these configurations with different dimensions and combinations revealed the various flow features and mode frequencies in supersonic *** the front wall subcavity act as a passive control device,reducing the overall sound pressure level inside the cavity whereas,the aft wall subcavity acts as a passive resonator with distinct harmonic fluidresonant modes,a similar phenomenon was observed for floor subcavity at different locations.A novel method was employed to analyze Rossiter’s model and its applicability in estimating experimental modes was verified,as it accurately predicted the dominant frequencies with a maximum of 2.74% uncertainty among all the configurations.

Concrete encased with trapezoidally corrugated web profiled cold-formed steel beams are used worldwide to improve resistance toward fire and corrosion,higher load carrying capacity as well as significant increase in the bending stiffness by encasing concrete on the beam *** present work gives a detailed description on the experimental,analytical and numerical investigation on the flexural behavior of concrete encased trapezoidally corrugated web profiled cold-formed steel beams which were simply supported at both ends and subjected to two point symmetric *** flexural behavior of such structure has been experimentally tested to failure under pure *** find the effct of concrete encasement in the web,12 experiments were conducted by two different *** having three different web corrugation angles of 0°,30°,and 45°with two different web depth-thickness(dw/tw)ratios of 60 and 80 were *** results such as load-deflection relationship,ultimate capacity,load-strain relationship,moment-curvature curves,ductility and failure mode indices of the specimens are *** the static bending tests the concrete encased trapezoidally corugated web beam showed improved moment carrying capacity,ductility bchavior and the resistance to transverse deflections in comparison to concrete encased with plain web *** for the beams with concrete encased 30°trapezoidally corrugated web having(dw/tw)ratio 60 and 80,the loading capacity was improved about 54%and 67.3%and the ductility also increased about l.6 and 3.6 times,when compared to concrete encased beams with plain *** research should contribute to the future engineering applications on seismic resistant structures and efficient usage of concrete encased with cold-formed steel beams by exhibiting its super elasto-plastic *** analytical and numerical results showed good agreement with the experimental results at yield load,which indicates that the proposed analyti

Assigning conservation value and identifying hotspots of endemic rattan diversity in the Western Ghats, India

Rattans, or canes, are one of the most important non-timber forest products supporting the livelihood of many forest-dwelling communities in South and North-eastern India. Due to increased demand for rattan products, rattans have been extracted indiscriminately from the Western Ghats, a 1600-km mountain chain running parallel to the west coast of India. Extensive harvesting, loss of habitat and poor regeneration has resulted in dwindling rattan populations, necessitating an urgent attempt to conserve existing rattan resources. In this study, using niche-modelling tools, an attempt has been made to identify areas of high species richness of rattans in the Western Ghats, one of the mega-diversity regions of the world. We have also developed conservation values for 21 economically important and endemic rattans of the Western Ghats. We identified at least two to three sites of extremely high species richness outside the existing protected area network that should be prioritized for in situ *** study emphasizes the need to develop strategies for the long-term conservation of rattans in the Western Ghats, India.

A Non-Intrusive Stochastic Phase-Field for Fatigue Fracture in Brittle Materials with Uncertainty in Geometry and Material Properties
