Beach pea or beach cowpea(Vigna marina(Burm.)Merr.)belongs to the family *** is a close relative of cultivated Vigna species such as adzuki bean(***),cowpea(***),mung bean(***),and blackgram(***),and is distributed throughout the *** its ability to tolerate salt stress,beach pea has great potential to contribute salt-tolerance genes for developing salt-tolerant cultivars in cultivated Vigna ***,it is still underutilized in Vigna breeding programs.A draft genome sequence of beach pea was generated using a high-throughput next-generation sequencing platform,yielding 23.7 Gb of sequence from 79,929,868 filtered reads.A de novo genome assembly containing 68,731 scaffolds gave an N50 length of 10,272 bp and the assembled sequences totaled 365.6 Mb.A total of 35,448 SSRs,including 3574 compound SSRs,were identified and primer pairs for most of these SSRs were *** analysis identified 50,670 genes with mean coding sequence length 1042 *** analysis revealed highest sequence similarity with ***,followed by *** with the *** genome revealed 16,699 SNPs and 2253 InDels and comparison with the *** genome revealed 17,538 SNPs and 2300 *** our knowledge this is the first draft genome sequence of beach pea derived from an accession(ANBp-14-03)adapted locally in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands of *** draft genome sequence may facilitate the genetic enhancement in cultivated Vigna species.

Because of various disadvantages of chemical synthesis processes, these days people are attracting towards green synthesis processes as it is devoid of toxic by-products, cost-effective and eco-friendly. In this study, a simple green synthesis method is applied for the synthesis of magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles (MNPs) by co-precipitation of FeCl3·6H2O and FeSO4·7H2O in the molar ratio of 2:1 using Azadirachta indica leaves extract under nitrogen environment. FTIR, XRD, SEM etc. were used to characterize the synthesized MNPs. Batch adsorption experiments were carried out to determine adsorption equilibrium of As(V) as a function of pH, adsorbent dose, contact time and different initial concentrations. Kinetics results were best described by pseudo-second order model with rate constant value 0.0052 g/(mg·min). The equilibrium adsorption isotherm was best fitted with Langmuir adsorption isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacity was found to be 62.89 mg/g at pH 2. MNPs showed

Nephrotic syndrome is one of the most common childhood kidney diseases. It is mostly found in the age group of 2 to 8 years. Around 10%-15% of nephrotic syndrome cases are non-responders of steroid treatment(SRNS).Angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE)(I/D) gene association studies are important for detecting kidney disease and herein we assessed the association of ACE(I/D) polymorphism with nephrotic syndrome in South Indian children. We recruited 260 nephrotic syndrome(162 boys and 98 girls) and 218(140 boys and 78 girls) control subjects. ACE I/D polymorphism was analyzed by PCR using genotype allele specific primers. In ACE(I/D), we did not find significant association for the ungrouped data of nephrotic syndrome children and the control subjects. Kidney biopsies were done in 86 nephrotic syndrome cases(minimal change disease, n = 51;focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, n = 27;diffuse mesangial proliferation, n = 8). We segregated them into the minimal change disease/focal segmental glomerulosclerosis groups and observed that the ACE’D’ allele was identified with borderline significance in cases of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and the ’Ⅰ’ allele was assessed as having very weak association in cases of minimal change disease. ’Ⅱ’ genotype was weakly associated with minimal change disease. Gender specific analysis revealed weak association of’ID’ genotype with female nephrotic syndrome in females. Dominant expression of DD genotype was observed in males with nephrotic syndrome. Our finding indicated that ACE(I/D) has moderate association with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis. However, due to the limited number of biopsy proven focal segmental glomerulosclerosis subjects enrolled, further studies are required to confirm these results.

Interference threshold based on energy setting in cognitive radios is a non-convex optimization problem [4]. The convergence of optimization techniques like Genetic algorithm (GA) takes several iterations to fix this threshold. Here, an attempt made to use Differential evolution (DE) method for optimization after formulating the objective functions. The advantages with this method were three fold over GA. They were, a. A reduced number of iterations, b. Marginal improvement and consistency of throughput and c. Localization of the best solution. The comparative results are presented and discussed.

AIM:To elucidate the changes of different ganglion cell layer(GCL)thinning patterns between the optic neuritis(ON)and non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy(NAION).METHODS:A prospective,observational study was conducted to evaluate the timing of GCL changes between acute ON and NAION using optical coherence ***:Thinning on optical coherence tomography in the NAION group occurs as early as 11 d after symptomatic onset of vision loss and follows an altitudinal *** mean superior-inferior GCL thickness difference in the NAION cohort was clinically significant at 5.7μm in the NAION cohort compared to controls of 0.8μm(P=0.032),but not significant in the ON group compared to controls with both groups measuring 1.1μ*** thinning was significant for the ON group compared to controls at 7.2μm(P=0.011)but not the NAION group compared to controls at 1.35μ***:These findings suggest that future treatments for NAION should be given early,and possibly before 11 d in order to prevent GCL and irreversible vision loss.

Evaluation and Comparison of DTPA Extractanting Methods for Available Cationic Micronutrients in Non-acidic Soils of Andhra Pradesh,India

The research work was carried out to compare and evaluate the extractability of cationic micronutrients(Zn,Cu,Fe and Mn)using widely employed diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid(DTPA)-triethanolamine(TEA)-CaCl2 method with that of multinutrient extractant(ammonium bicarbonate(AB)-DTPA)in Inceptisols,Alfisols and Entisols in the erstwhile united Andhra *** percent variation of extraction of Zn was higher in soils with DTPA-TEA-CaCl2 over AB-DTPA method in all the soil orders(types)in the range of 35.3% to 46.2%.AB-DTPA extracted high amounts of Cu to an extent of 10%-21% in Entisols and Alfisls,*** Inceptisols both extracatants extracted equal amounts of ***-DTPA extracted high amounts of Fe 13% and 18% in Alfisols and Entisols compared to that of DTPA-TEA-CaCl2 method and DTPA-TEA-CaCl2 method was good extract for Fe in Inceptisols and even for Mn in *** amounts of micronutrient contents extracted were found to be highly and significantly correlated with soil properties like electrical conductivity(EC)and organic carbon(OC).The individual micronutrient contents of Zn,Cu and Fe extracted by DTPA-TEA-CaCl2 methods were found to be highly correlated with that of AB-DTPA ***,such correlation was not observed for Mn extraction when all soils were grouped.
