A Novel Hybrid Optimization Algorithm for Materialized View Selection from Data Warehouse Environments

Responding to complex analytical queries in the data warehouse(DW)is one of the most challenging tasks that require prompt *** problem of materialized view(MV)selection relies on selecting the most optimal views that can respond to more queries *** work introduces a combined approach in which the constraint handling process is combined with metaheuristics to select the most optimal subset of DW views from *** proposed work initially refines the solution to enable a feasible selection of views using the ensemble constraint handling technique(ECHT).The constraints such as self-adaptive penalty,epsilon(ε)-parameter and stochastic ranking(SR)are considered for constraint *** two constraints helped the proposed model select the finest views that minimize the objective ***,a novel and effective combination of Ebola and coot optimization algorithms named hybrid Ebola with coot optimization(CHECO)is introduced to choose the optimal *** and Coot have recently introduced metaheuristics that identify the global optimal set of views from the given *** combining these two algorithms,the proposed framework resulted in a highly optimized set of views with minimized *** cost functions are described to enable the algorithm to choose the finest solution from the problem ***,extensive evaluations are conducted to prove the performance of the proposed approach compared to existing *** proposed framework resulted in a view maintenance cost of 6,329,354,613,784,query processing cost of 3,522,857,483,566 and execution time of 226 s when analyzed using the TPC-H benchmark dataset.

Tuberculosis(TB) is a communicable disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis(M. tuberculosis). WHO estimated that 10.4 million new(incident) TB cases worldwide in year 2016. The increased prevalence of drug resistant strains and side effects associated with the current anti-tubercular drugs make the treatment options more complicated. Hence, there are necessities to identify new drug candidates to fight against various sub-populations of M. tuberculosis with less or no toxicity/side effects and shorter treatment duration. Bacteriocins produced by lactic acid bacteria(LAB) attract attention of researchers because of its "Generally recognized as safe" status. LAB and its bacteriocins possess an effective antimicrobial activity against various bacteria and fungi. Interestingly bacteriocins such as nisin and lacticin 3147 have shown antimycobacterial activity in vitro. As probiotics, LAB plays a vital role in promoting various health benefits including ability to modulate immune response against various infectious diseases. LAB and its metabolic products activate immune system and thereby limiting the M. tuberculosis pathogenesis. The protein and peptide engineering techniques paved the ways to obtain hybrid bacteriocin derivatives from the known peptide sequence of existing bacteriocin. In this review, we focus on the antimycobacterial property and immunomodulatory role of LAB and its metabolic products. Techniques for large scale synthesis of potential bacteriocin with multifunctional activity and enhanced stability are also discussed.

Globalization and liberalization offer competitive openings for several world brands to the Indian markets. Bestowed with growing disposable incomes, Kerala consumers exhibit wide diversity in their buying habits. Apparently, the emerging fascination for imported brands impels distributers to leave enough space to shelf more ＂made in China＂ brands in their showrooms. The substantial increase in consumers＇ demand for imported goods with considerable attraction for ＂made in China＂ products inspired this study to explore the demand state for various types of Chinese products in the Indian regional markets. Divided into two stages, at first, with a primary survey, the study explores the consumers＇ perception towards selected five vastly available consumer durables such as electrical appliances, handicrafts, stationeries, toys and builds wares. Later, the demand matrix developed from the primary data defines the types of demand prevailing for each category of＂made in China＂ products based on their popularity and consumption in Kerala markets.

Modeling and simulation results of a pulse skipping modulated buck converter for applications involving a source with widely varying voltage conditions with loads requiring constant voltage from full load down to no load is presented. The pulses applied to the switch are blocked or released on output voltage crossing a predetermined value. The regulator worked satisfactorily over a wide input voltage range with good transient response but with higher ripple content. Input current spectrum indicates a good EMI performance with crowding of components at audio frequency range for the se-lected switching frequency.

Objective:To evaluate antimicrobial and antimycobacterial activity of three seaweeds[Gelidiella acerosa(***),Turbinaria conoides(***)and Sargassum wightii(***)]from Gulf of ***:Three seaweeds ***,*** and *** were collected from Gulf of Mannar,South-East Coast of *** extraction of the selected seaweeds was done using hexane and *** extracts were tested for antibacterial activity against four bacterial strains(Escherichia coli,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus)by disc diffusion *** active extracts of *** were tested for antimycobacterial activity by luciferase reporter phage assay at two different concentrations(100μg/mL and 500μg/mL).Results:Among the tested seaweeds,ethanol extract of *** showed maximum antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus followed by hexane extract at concentration of 1 mg/*** remaining two seaweeds(*** and ***)did not show any *** ethanol extract of *** exhibited maximum antimycobacterial activity(87.33%)followed by hexane extract(74.68%)against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv at 500μg/***:Ethanol extract of *** showed both antibacterial and antimycobacterial *** photochemical studies are needed to identify the active antimycobacterial agents.

Physiological and Biochemical Basis of Water-Deficit Stress Tolerance in Pearl Millet Hybrid and Parents

The present investigation was aimed to understand the physiological and biochemical basis of water-deficit stress tolerance in pearl millet [Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.] hybrid ICMH 356 and its parents ICMR 356 (♂) and ICMB 88004 (♀) in response to and recovery from drought stress and also to comprehend crop adaptation under dryland conditions. A field experiment was conducted in a split plot design with moisture levels as the main plot and genotypes as the sub plots. A comparative analysis of hybrid and parents under well-watered and water-deficit stress conditions revealed that the hybrid was superior over the parents in terms of leaf water relations, excised leaf water retention capacity, accumulation of compatible solutes, photosynthesis, membrane stability index and antioxidative enzyme viz., superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione reductase (GR), ascorbate peroxidase (APX) and guaiacol peroxidase (GPOX) activities. ANOVA for these parameters was also found to be significant for genotypes, treatments and their interactions at 0.01% level. Maintenance of superiority in terms of these physiological and biochemical parameters coupled with better recovery ability upon stress relief are crucial physiological mechanisms contributing to water deficit stress tolerance in pearl millet. Simple correlation coefficient analysis revealed significant positive association of yield at 0.01% level with relative water content, leaf water potential, stomatal conductance, photosynthesis, proline, total soluble sugars, free amino acids, membrane stability index, leaf area index and total biomass, while a significant negative association with solute potential and malondialdehyde content, under water-deficit stress clearly indicated that such relationships can be positively attributed to drought tolerance.
