This paper deals with the detection performance evaluation of a new nonparametric procedure. The test statistics of the proposed processor have a simple statistical form which is derived from that of the suboptimum rank test procedure [1]. The performance of the new distributionfree detection technique is obtained through Monte-Carlo simulations and compared with that of the suboptimum scheme when detecting nonfluctuating target embedded in Gaussian noise and in the presence of interfering target returns among the reference samples. The new nonparametric detector is shown to give a relative improvement over the suboptimum processor, especially, when the background environment contains a numerous-number of extraneous targets.

BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer(CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer-related *** stem cells(CSCs) in CRC, which are spared by many chemotherapeutics,have tumorigenic capacity and are believed to be the reason behind cancer relapse. So far, there have been no effective drugs to target colon CSCs. Diiminoquinone(DIQ) has shown promising effects on targeting colon ***, there is limited research on the effects of DIQ on eradicating CSCs in *** To investigate the anticancer potential of DIQ on colon CSCs in two-dimensional(2D) and three-dimensional(3D) models using colonospheres and patient-derived *** Various 2D methods have been used to assess the effect and the mechanism of DIQ on HCT116and HT29 cell lines including cell proliferation and viability assays, migration and invasion assays,immunofluorescence staining, and flow cytometry. The potency of DIQ was also assessed in 3D culture using the sphere formation assay and colon cancer patient-derived organoid *** Our results showed that DIQ significantly inhibited cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in HCT116 and HT29 cell lines. DIQ treatment induced apoptosis along with an accumulation of HCT116 and HT29 cancer cells in the sub-G1 region and an increase in reactive oxygen species in both CRC cell lines. DIQ reduced sphere-forming and self-renewal ability of colon cancer HCT116and HT29 stem/progenitor cells at sub-toxic doses of 1 μmol/L. Mechanistically, DIQ targets CSCs by downregulating the main components of stem cell-related-catenin, AKT, and ERK oncogenic signaling pathways. Potently, DIQ displayed a highly significant decrease in both the count and the size of the organoids derived from colon cancer patients as compared to control and 5-fluorouracil *** This study is the first documentation of the molecular mechanism of the novel anticancer therapeutic DIQ via targeting CSC, a promising compound that needs further investigation.

In vitro and in vivo evaluation of the antiangiogenic activities of Trigonella foenum-graecum extracts

Objective: To assess the antiangiogcnic activity of ***: Different fractions of fenugreek crude extracts were prepared and their antiangiogenic properties were assessed using the ex vivo rat aortic ring assay and in vivo chicken embryo chorioallantoic membrane(CAM) assay. They were investigated for their direct cytotoxic activity in the MCF7 cells using the MTT ***: The ethanol extract showed 100% inhibition of blood vessel outgrowth from primary tissue explants in the rat aortic ring assay at a concentration of 100μg/mL while the other extracts did not show significant antiangiogenic activity. The ethanol extract was therefore investigated at varying concentrations and exhibited a significant dose dependent effect. The CAM assay coincided with the results of the aortic ring assay as ethanol extract showed a significant inhibition of formation of new blood vessels. The extracts only showed anti-proliferative activity at the highest concentration of 400μg/mL towards MCF7 breast cancer cell lines in the MTT ***: Findings of the both assays confirmed that the ethanol extract inhibited vascularization significantly. Further studies on the ethanol extract would be beneficial in isolating the active ingredient responsible for the inhibition.

随着计算机技术的飞速发展,硬盘技术应用在电视领域作为存储媒介早已使用,视频服务器就是一个典型的应用。在电视领域中,视频服务器不但可用于节目制作,如节目编辑、动画创作,还可用于节目的播出,从而真正实现制播网络化,同时还带来了信息共享,消除了录像机格式选择的烦恼。用视频服务器实现播出,国内电视台在96年就作了一些尝试,当时受技术等条件限制,系统的可靠性、软件开发等方面还不尽如人意。随着近几年硬盘技术的成熟,以及硬件厂商和国内软件开发商的激烈竞争,视频服务器应用已经非常广泛。使用硬盘实现节目播出自动化的优点早已被大家公认。在播出系统中,硬盘的存储容量已不再是争论的焦点,人们早已把精力放在硬盘系统的安全性(如数据备份方式、自动检测自动修复等)、软件开发(如多功能、制播联网等)实用性方面,使系统更智能化、人性化。本专题报告会主要向大家介绍近些年视频服务器主要硬件厂商在产品开发方面的动态、国内软件开发商研发经历以及国内使用单位采用硬盘播出系统的经验。

Background: Inflammatory gingival enlargement is a more common clinical feature with orthodontic therapy than other features. Therefore, this study was designed to the evaluation of the influence of fixed orthodontic treatment duration on the severity of inflammatory gingival enlargement (fixed orthodontic induced gingival enlargements) and some properties of saliva. Material and Methods: The sample size comprised 145 patients undergoing fixed orthodontic treatment for at least 6 months aged 13 - 32 years. They were divided according to orthodontic treatment duration into three groups. Group I (n = 47) included the patients who were treated for less than 6 months, group II (n = 51) included the patients who were treated for a period of 6 - 12 months, and group III (n = 47) included the patients who were managed for more than 12 months. Data were obtained from the outpatient clinics, college of dentistry, King Khalid University, Abha, Saudi Arabia, and some dental centers in Sana’a city, the Republic of Yemen. This study was conducted from October 2021 G to January 2022 G. Clinical examination was done for plaque index (PLI), gingival index (GI), and gingival enlargement indexes (GEI). Saliva was collected in sterile test tubes then salivary flow and pH were measured. Statistical analysis was done with SPSS (version 23) and ANOVA test to evaluate the impact of orthodontic treatment duration on the severity of inflammatory gingival enlargement and some properties of saliva. Results: The statistical analysis demonstrated the highest mean plaque index (PLI) was among groups III and I participants whereas, the highest mean gingival index and mean gingival enlargement were among groups II and III participants. The present study revealed an increase in salivary flow with decreased salivary pH values with an increase in orthodontic therapy duration.
