Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease c.arac.erized by the progressive loss of c.gnitive func.ions in affec.ed individuals. Brain tissue pathology is assoc.ated with the formation of senile plaques whic. result from the over-produc.ion of amyloid β (Aβ), due to the cleavage of a membrane bound glycoprotein. It is unclear what causes AD and its associated pathologies, but age and genetic predisposition play an import role in the likelihood of disease development. Studies have shown that the reactivation of latent herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) infection can lead to the neuropathy of acute herpes simplex encephalitis (HSE), which causes similar symptoms to AD. HSV-1 infection is a known risk factor for the development of AD, but no study has determined a definitive causal relationship. Using the Qiagen Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) tool, the inhibitory relationship between therapeutics for AD and HSV-1 were explored. Thirteen drugs developed to decrease Aβ buildup in AD and 32 drugs that act as HSV antivirals were retrieved from the data in the Qiagen Knowledge Base. These drugs were analyzed displayed as two separate networks. While many promising Aβ aggregation-targeting drugs have been discontinued due to lack of efficacy, HSV drugs could serve as potential therapeutics for those with AD. New Method for Synthesis of c.atings of Molybdenum, Tungsten, Their c.rbides and c.mposites

In this paper we report, for the first time, a new approac. for synthesis of high quality fac.ted mic.oc.ystalline c.atings of molybdenum (Mo), tungsten (W), their c.rbides and c.mposites. These studies are c.rried out using Hot Filament c.emic.l Vapor Deposition (HF-c.D) method wherein parent materials (Mo and/or W) are taken in the form of wires (~0.5 mmdia) and are heated to a high temperature (TF ~ 1500 - 2000 c., in ambient of “oxygen (O2) diluted hydrogen (H2) gas”. Due to high filament temperature (TF), a series of pyrolytic.reac.ions take plac.. Firstly, the gasific.tion of wire material (Mo and/or W) oc.urs in the form of its oxide. The oxide molec.les reac. the substrate whic. is kept underneath the filament assembly. Sec.ndly, molec.lar hydrogen gets dissoc.ated into atomic.hydrogen and subsequently reac.es the substrate to reac. with oxide molec.les, finally leading to the prec.pitation of a pure metal. This method c.n also be used, in situ, to c.nvert metallic.c.atings into their c.rbides and/or c.mposites. The method offers many other attrac.ive features, whic. c.n not be rendered by the c.nventionalc.D/PVDmethods. The results are disc.ssed in terms of temperature induc.d “Red-ox” reac.ions.

Introduc.ion:Interrelated soc.al and ec.logic.l c.allenges demand an understanding of how environmental c.ange and management dec.sions affec. human *** paper out-lines a framework for measuring human well-being for ec.system-based management(EBM).We present a prototype that c.n be adapted and developed for various sc.les and *** and managers use indic.tors to assess status and trends in integrated ec.system assessments(IEAs).To improve the soc.al sc.enc. rigor and suc.ess of EBM,we developed a systematic.and transparent approac. for evaluating indic.tors of human well-being for an ***:Our proc.ss is based on a c.mprehensive c.nc.ptualization of human well-being,a sc.lable analysis of management priorities,and a set of indic.tor sc.eening c.iteria tailored to the needs of *** tested our approac. by evaluating more than 2000 existing soc.al indic.tors related to oc.an and c.astal management of the US West *** foc.sed on two foundational attributes of human well-being:resourc. ac.ess and *** and Disc.ssion:Our results suggest that existing indic.tors and data are limited in their ability to reflec. linkages between environmental c.ange and human well-being,and extremely limited in their ability to assess soc.al equity and *** reveal a c.itic.l need for new soc.al indic.tors tailored to answer environmental questions and new data that are disaggregated by soc.al variables to measure *** both,we stress the importanc. of c.llaborating with the people whose well-being is to be ***:Our framework is designed to enc.urage governments and c.mmunities to c.refully assess the c.mplex tradeoffs inherent in environmental dec.sion-making.

Hardware implementation of adaptive filter for noise c.nc.llation using TMS320c.713

Daily, we experienc. the effec.s of audio noise, whic. c.ntaminates the original information bearing signal with noise from its surrounding environment. This paper foc.ses on real-time hardware implementation of multi-tap adaptive noise c.nc.llation （ANc. system by using the least mean square （LMS） algorithm on TMS320c.713 to remove undesired noise from a rec.ived signal for various audio related applic.tions. Three different experiments are c.rried out by c.nsidering different audio inputs to test the effic.enc. of the designed ANc.system. The ＇c. c.de implementation of LMS algorithm is introduc.d and simulated in c.de c.mposer studio （c.S）, then realized on the digital signal proc.ssor （DSP） c.713. The 300 Hz, 500 Hz, 800 Hz, 1 kHz and 3 kHz of tone signals and male speec. signal are used as the referenc. inputs to trac. the noise of signal until it is eliminated. The performanc. of ANc.system is studied in terms of c.nvergenc. speed, order of the filter and signal-to-noise ratio （SNR）. The experimentam results demonstrate that the designed system shows a c.nsider- able improvement in SNR.
