Direct numerical simulations of square particle sedimentation in a viscous incompressible fluid are presented to examine the effects of sharp edges for various particle-to-fluid density ratios and different initial inclination *** settling process exhibits four different motion regimes;non-oscillatory,non-uniform centered oscillatory,uniform off-centered oscillatory,and non-uniform off-centered(irregular)*** moderate density ratios,we observe that the rotational motion of settling square particle varies with the initial inclination *** employ Dynamic Time Warping and Fast Fourier Transform to analyze translational and angular *** systems are described using phase-space plots,and a chaotic phenomenon is observed at a higher density ratio.

Chronic hepatitis B constitutes a substantial disease burden *** steps advocated by the World Health Organization in 2016 to eradicate hepatitis B by 2030 has failed to achieve significant progress,especially with respect to immu-nization coverage and linkage to *** lack of governmental and public awar-eness regarding the long-term implications of hepatitis B burden cause under-funding of developmental *** presently approved treatment modalities have limited efficacy in complete viral eradication,hence the need for newer molecules to achieve functional cure(sustained undetectable hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)and hepatitis B virus DNA in peripheral blood after a finite period of therapy).However,preliminary results from trials of novel therapies show their inadequacy to achieve this end by themselves but better performance with a low baseline serum HBsAg with nucleos(t)ide analogues(NA)treatment which need to be combined with/without pegylated interferon as an *** therapy is limited by cost and adverse events and need to show incremental benefit over the standard of care(long-term NA therapy)with respect to efficacy and drug toxicities,making the development process ***,while such therapies continue to be tested,strategies should still focus on prevention of transmission by non-pharmaceutical measures,vaccination and increasing linkage to care.

Spinal cord injury(SCI) is a serious central nervous system trauma that leads to loss of motor and sensory functions in the SCI patients. One of the cell death mechanisms is autophagy, which is ‘self-eating' of the damaged and misfolded proteins and nucleic acids, damaged mitochondria, and other impaired organelles for recycling of cellular building blocks. Autophagy is different from all other cell death mechanisms in one important aspect that it gives the cells an opportunity to survive or demise depending on the circumstances. Autophagy is a therapeutic target for alleviation of pathogenesis in traumatic SCI. However, functions of autophagy in traumatic SCI remain controversial. Spatial and temporal patterns of activation of autophagy after traumatic SCI have been reported to be contradictory. Formation of autophagosomes following therapeutic activation or inhibition of autophagy flux is ambiguous in traumatic SCI studies. Both beneficial and harmful outcomes due to enhancement autophagy have been reported in traumatic SCI studies in preclinical models. Only further studies will make it clear whether therapeutic activation or inhibition of autophagy is beneficial in overall outcomes in preclinical models of traumatic SCI. Therapeutic enhancement of autophagy flux may digest the damaged components of the central nervous system cells for recycling and thereby facilitating functional recovery. Many studies demonstrated activation of autophagy flux and inhibition of apoptosis for neuroprotective effects in traumatic SCI. Therapeutic induction of autophagy in traumatic SCI promotes axonal regeneration, supporting another beneficial role of autophagy in traumatic SCI. In contrast, some other studies demonstrated that disruption of autophagy flux in traumatic SCI strongly correlated with neuronal death at remote location and impaired functional recovery. While the geodetic excitationχ(t)of polar motion p(t)is essential to improve our understanding of global mass redistributions and relative motions with respect to the terrestrial frame,the widely adopted method to deriveχ(t)from p(t)has biases in both amplitude and phase *** study has developed a new simple but more accurate method based on the combination of the frequency-and time-domain Liouville's equation(FTLE).The FTLE method has been validated not only with 6-h sampled synthetic excitation series but also with daily and 6-h sampled polar motion measurements as well asχ(t)produced by the interactive webpage tool of the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service(IERS).Numerical comparisons demonstrate thatχ(t)derived from the FTLE method has superior performances in both the time and frequency domains with respect to that obtained from the widely adopted method or the IERS webpage tool,provided that the input p(t)series has a length around or more than 25 years,which presents no practical limitations since the necessary polar motion data are readily *** FTLE code is provided in the form of Mat Lab function.

The penetration of renewable energy sources(RESs)in the distribution system becomes a challenge for the reliable and safe operation of the existing power *** sporadic characteristics of sustainable energy sources along with the random load variations greatly affect the power quality and stability of the ***,it requires storage systems with both high energy and high power handling capacity to coexist in *** efficient energy management structure is designed in this paper for a grid-connected PV system combined with hybrid storage of supercapacitor and *** combined supercapacitor and battery storage system grips the average and transient power changes,which provides a quick control for the DC-link voltage,i.e.,it stabilizes the system and helps achieve the PV power *** average power distribution between the power grid and battery is done by checking the state of charge(SOC)of a battery,and an effective and efficient energy management scheme is ***,the use of a supercapacitor lessens the current stress on the battery system during unexpected disparity in the generated power and load *** performance and efficacy of the proposed energy management scheme are justified by simulation studies.

Rotational asymmetric distribution of reactant （ozone） concentration and its evolution along with the gas-solid reactive flow were studied in a 76 mm i.d., 10.2 m high circulating fluidized bed （CFB） riser reactor. The superficial gas velocity ranged from 3 to 5 m/s and the solids circulation rates were 50 and 100 kg/（m2 s）. Experimental results show that the asymmetry of reactant distribution can extend to a height close to the length of flow developing zone of the CFB riser reactor and then disappears. Based on the hydrodynamics of the gas and solid phases in the solids entrance region, this asymmetry can be attributed to the effect of the solids entrance structure.

Under optimal process conditions,pyrolysis of polyolefins can yield ca.90 wt%of liquid product,i.e.,combination of light oil fraction and heavier *** this work,the experimental findings reported in a selected group of publications concerning the non-catalytic pyrolysis of polyolefins were collected,reviewed,and compared with the ones obtained in a continuously operated bench-scale pyrolysis *** process parameters were used for the pyrolysis of waste and virgin counterparts of high-density polyethylene,low-density polyethylene,polypropylene and a defined mixture of those(i.e.,25:25:50 wt%,respectively).To mitigate temperature drops and enhance heat transfer,an increased feed intake is employed to create a hot melt plastic *** 1.5 g·min^(-1) feed intake,1.1 L·min^(-1) nitrogen flow rate,and a moderate pyrolysis temperature of 450℃,the formation of light hydrocarbons was favored,while wax formation was limited for polypropylene-rich *** of virgin plastics yielded more liquid(maximum 73.3 wt%)than that of waste plastics(maximum 66 wt%).Blending polyethylenes with polypropylene favored the production of liquids and increased the formation of gasoline-range *** products were mainly composed of C3 hydrocarbons,and no hydrogen production was detected due to moderate pyrolysis temperature.
