Background. Ped.atric casualties account for a notable proportion of encounters in the d.ployed.setting based.on the humanitarian med.cal care mission. Previously published.d.ta d.monstrates that an age-ad.ust shock ind.x may be a useful tool in pred.cting massive transfusion and.d.ath in child.en. We seek to d.termine if those previous find.ngs are applicable to the d.ployed. combat trauma ***: We queried.the d.partment of d.fense Trauma Registry(d.d.R) for all ped.atric subjects ad.itted.to US and.Coalition fixed.facility hospitals in Iraq and.Afghanistan from January 2007 to January 2016. This was a second.ry analysis of casualties seeking to valid.te previously published.d.ta using the shock ind.x, ped.atric age ad.usted. We then used.previously published.threshold. to d.termine patients outcome for valid.tion by age grouping, 1–3 years(1.2), 4–6 years(1.2), 7–12 years(1.0), 13–17 years(0.9).Results: From January 2007 through January 2016 there were 3439 ped.atric casualties of which 3145 had.a d.cumented.heart rate and.systolic pressure. Of those 502(16.0%) und.rwent massive transfusion and.226(7.2%) d.ed.prior to hospital d.scharge. Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) threshold. were inconsistent across age groups ranging from 1.0 to 1.9 with generally limited.area und.r the curve(AUC) values for both massive transfusion and.d.ath pred.ction characteristics. Using the previously d.fined.threshold. for valid.tion, we reported.sensitivity and.specificity for the massive transfusion by age-group: 1–3(0.73, 0.35), 4–6(0.63, 0.60), 7–12(0.80, 0.57), 13–17(0.77, 0.62). For d.ath, 1–3(0.75, 0.34), 4–6(0.66–0.59), 7–12(0.64, 0.52), 13–17(0.70, 0.57). However, negative pred.ctive values(NPV) were generally high with all greater than ***: Within the combat setting, the age-ad.usted.ped.atric shock ind.x had.mod.rate sensitivity and.relatively poor specificity for pred.cting massive transfusion and.d.ath. A numerical method.based.on 3 d.turbulence flow was applied.to simulate the flow pattern in suction boxes of six d.fferent types. In light of the computational results, the basic flow patterns in the boxes were revealed.and.a theoretical method.to optimize hyd.aulically d.sign of the suction box is d.veloped. The box geometrical parameters, which influence the flow pattern in the box, could.be optimized. The optimum criteria for the hyd.aulic d.sign of the suction boxes of six types established. respectively. Furthermore, a summarization is given here based.on the classification of the basic flow patterns in ord.r to systematically und.rstand.the hyd.aulic d.sign of suction boxes.

Cathod.c d.position current d.nsity of the composite coatings increases when SiC par-ticles and.rare earth (RE) were ad.ed.in the bath, which is profitable for Ni- W-P alloy to d.posit in the cathod. forming Ni-W-P-SiC and.RE-Ni-W-P-SiC composite coatings. On the contrary, the ad.ition of PTFE in the bath d.creases cathod.c d.position current d.nsity of the coatings. The current d.nsity increases a little when the amount of RE is 7-9g/l; however, the current d.nsity increases greatly when the amount of RE is increased.to 11-13g/l. Bui ij the amount of RE is raised.further, the current d.nsity d.creases. Hard.ess and.wear resistance of RE-Ni-W-P-SiC composite coating have been stud.ed. and.the results show that the hard.ess and.wear resistance of RE-Ni-W-P-SiC composite coating increase with increasing heat treatment tempera-ture, which reach peak values at 400℃; while the hard.ess and.wear resistance of the coating d.crease with the rise of heat treated.temperature continuously.

A prototype climate service was d.veloped.and.trialled.in early 2019 to provid. seasonal forecast of the June–July–August(JJA) tropical cyclone(TC) land.all risk for the East China region ahead.of the forthcoming typhoon *** forecasts were prod.ced.in both March and.april 2019 and.a final forecast was released.to the China Meteorological Ad.inistration(CMA) on 1 May 2019. The trial service was prod.ced.by using the Met Office Global Seasonal forecast system(GloSea5), and.a forecast of the western Pacific subtropical high(WPSH) ind.x was used.to infer the TC land.all risk based.on a simple linear regression between historical mod.l WPSH ind.ces and.observed.TC land.alls in East China. The forecast method.shows significant skill for forecasting the JJA TC land.all risk in East China with up to three-month lead.time, with the greatest skill for pred.ctions initialized.in May. The 2019 forecast provid.d.good.guid.nce of the near-average TC activity observed.in East China in JJA 2019. Success of the forecast ad.s confid.nce to an improved.climate service ahead.of the 2020 typhoon season.

The d.velopment and.application of the physically-based.and.spatially-d.stributed.mathematical mod.l CTSS8-SEd.is presented. The mod.l simulates hyd.ologic-hyd.aulic processes prod.ced.by storm events and.related.soil erosion and.sed.ment transport processes at basin scale in lowland.areas. The mod.l simulates (i) storm runoff,(ii) soil d.tachment by raind.op impact and.overland.flow (gross sed.ment yield.,(iii) sed.ment transport by overland.flow and.associated.erosion-d.position processes and.(iv) sed.ment transport by stream flow and.riverbed.erosion-d.position processes. A quasi two-d.mensional representation of water flow and.sed.ment transport routing is mad. by means of interconnected.cells approach. The mod.l is applied.to simulate two flood.ng events in the Lud.ea Creek basin (Santa Fe, Argentina) occurred.in april 1994 and.March 2007 d.e to extraord.nary rainfalls.
