Clinical approach for pulmonary alveolar proteinosis in children

In this editorial,we discuss the clinical implications of the article by Zhang et *** alveolar proteinosis(PAP)is a rare lung disease characterized by excessive surfactant accumulation in the *** is classified into four categories:Primary,secondary,congenital,and unclassified *** PAP is caused by the disruption of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor(GM-CSF)receptor signaling,which is necessary for the clearance of surfactant by alveolar *** is further divided into autoimmune PAP,caused by anti-GM-CSF antibodies blocking alveolar macrophage activation,and hereditary PAP,resulting from mutations in genes encoding GM-CSF *** PAP develops due to conditions affecting the number or function of alveolar macrophages,such as infections,immunodeficiency,hematological disorders,or exposure to inhaled *** PAP is linked to mutations in genes involved in surfactant protein ***,the causes of PAP differ between children and *** features include a characteristic"crazypaving"pattern on high-resolution computed tomography,accompanied by diffuse ground-glass opacities and interlobular septal *** presence of PAP can be identified by the milky appearance of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and histological ***,these methods cannot definitively determine the cause of *** lung lavage remains the standard treatment,often combined with specific therapies based on the underlying cause.

Lead zirconate(PbZrO_(3))embedded in natural rubber as electroactive elastomer composites

Perovskite lead zirconate(PbZrOz)was synthesized in an orthorhombic form at a temperature below the Curie temperature,*** orthorhombic form is a noncentrosymmetric structure which is capable of spontaneous *** transform infrared(FTIR)spectra and X-ray diffraction(XRD)patterns confirm the siuccessful synthesis of the lead zirconate;and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)micrographs indicate that PbZrO_(3) particles are moderately dispersed in the natural rubber(NR)*** an electrical field,the particles merely act as a ferroelectric fller,which can absorb and store additional *** an electrical field,particle induced dipole motents are generated,leading to interparticle interaction and a sub-stantial increase in the storage *** a small amount of lead ziroonate part iculates present in the natural rubber matrix,at a volume fraction of 0.007306,the electrical conductivity increases dramatically by nearly two orders of magnitude at the electrical frequency of 500 kHz.

Electromechanical Properties of Ethylene Propylene Diene Elastomers: Effect of Ethylene Norbornene Content

Ethylene propylene diene elastomers (EPDM) of various side chains and molecular weights were prepared as thin discs and the effects of electric field strength and temperature on the electromechanical properties were investigated. The electrical conductivity, the dielectric constant, the storage and loss moduli (G' and G'), the storage modulus response (ΔG’1000 V/mm), and the storage modulus sensitivity (ΔG’1000 V/mm/G’0) of the elastomers of different ethylene norbornene (ENB) contents and molecular weights were measured under electric field strengths varying from 0 V/mm to 1000 V/mm and at temperatures between 300 K and 380 K. The storage modulus response and sensitivity increase with increasing molecular weight and dielectric constant, consistent with the existing theory. However, for the case of EPDMs with different ENB contents, the storage modulus response and sensitivity vary inversely with the dielectric constant. EDPM is potentially a new type of electroactive materials.
