Early warning and detection of ventricular fibrillation is crucial to the successful treatment of this life-threatening condition. In this paper, a ventricular fibrillation classification algorithm using a machine learning method, random forest, is proposed. A total of 17 previously defined ECG feature metrics were extracted from fixed length segments of the echocardiogram (ECG). Three annotated public domain ECG databases (Creighton University Ventricular Tachycardia database, MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database and MIT-BIH Malignant Ventricular Arrhythmia Database) were used for evaluation of the proposed method. Window sizes 3 s, 5 s and 8 s for overlapping and non-overlapping segmentation methodologies were tested. An accuracy (Acc) of 97.17%, sensitivity (Se) of 95.17% and specificity (Sp) of 97.32% were obtained with 8 s window size for overlapping segments. The results were benchmarked against recent reported results and were found to outper-form them with lower complexity.

BACKGROUND Endoscopic submucosal dissection is considered curative for patients with early rectal cancer when level of submucosal invasion is<1000 microns with favourable histopathological *** data suggests even deeper submucosal invasion can potentially be curative if R0 resection can be achieved and when no high-risk histopathological features are seen in the resected *** achieve R0 resection,deeper dissection is *** SUMMARY A 66 year old New Zealand European male presented with 3 mo history of per rectal *** was referred for a colonoscopy test to investigate this *** revealed a malignant appearing lesion in the *** however showed high grade dysplasia *** endoscopic appearances suspicious for deep submucosal invasion,patient was consented for endoscopic intermuscular dissection(EID).The case was successfully performed,and the presence of muscularis propria was confirmed in the resected *** were no complications and total procedure time was 124 *** was clear of radial margins however deep margins were positive confirming it was at least a pT2 *** was recommended to have further treatment but could not have radical surgery due to comorbidities and instead was referred for long course *** EID is a safe and feasible option for management of rectal cancer in highly selected patients.

Pyricularia oryzae anamorph of Magnaporthe oryzae is one of the most notorious fungal pathogens causing severe economic loss in rice production worldwide. Various methods, viz. cultural, biological and molecular approaches, are utilized to counteract this pathogen. Moreover, some tolerant or resistant rice varieties have been developed with the help of breeding programmes. Isolation and molecular characterization of different blast resistance genes now open the gate for new possibilities to elucidate the actual allelic variants of these genes via various molecular breeding and transgenic approaches. However, the behavioral pattern of this fungus breakups the resistance barriers in the resistant or tolerant rice varieties. This host-pathogen barrier will be possibly countered in future research by comparative genomics data from available genome sequence data of rice and M. oryzae for durable resistance. Present review emphasized fascinating recent updates, new molecular breeding approaches, transgenic and genomics approaches(i.e. mi RNA and genome editing) for the management of blast disease in rice. The updated information will be helpful for the durable, resistance breeding programme in rice against blast pathogen.

In today’s world,image processing techniques play a crucial role in the prognosis and diagnosis of various diseases due to the development of several precise and accurate methods for medical *** analysis of medical images is essential for doctors,as manual investigation often leads to inter-observer *** research aims to enhance healthcare by enabling the early detection of diabetic retinopathy through an efficient image processing *** proposed hybridized method combines Modified Inertia Weight Particle Swarm Optimization(MIWPSO)and Fuzzy C-Means clustering(FCM)*** FCM does not incorporate spatial neighborhood features,making it highly sensitive to noise,which significantly affects segmentation *** method incorporates a modified FCM that includes spatial functions in the fuzzy membership matrix to eliminate *** results demonstrate that the proposed FCM-MIWPSO method achieves highly precise and accurate medical image ***,segmented images are classified as benign or malignant using the Decision Tree-Based Temporal Association Rule(DT-TAR)*** analysis with existing state-of-the-art models indicates that the proposed FCM-MIWPSO segmentation technique achieves a remarkable accuracy of 98.42%on the dataset,highlighting its significant impact on improving diagnostic capabilities in medical imaging.

Showering in Flint, MI: Is there a DBP problem?

Lead contamination in the City of Flint, MI has been well documented over the past two years, with lead levels above the EPA Action Level until summer 2016. This resulted from an ill-fated decision to switch from Detroit water（Lake Huron） with corrosion control, to Flint River water without corrosion control. Although lead levels are now closer to normal,reports of skin rashes have sparked questions surrounding tap water in some Flint *** study investigated the presence of contaminants, including disinfection by-products（DBPs）, in the hot tap water used for showering in the homes of residents in Flint. Extensive quantitative analysis of 61 regulated and priority unregulated DBPs was conducted in Flint hot and cold tap water, along with the analysis of 50 volatile organic compounds and a nontarget comprehensive, broadscreen analysis, to identify a possible source for the reported skin rashes. For comparison, chlorinated hot and cold waters from three other cities were also sampled, including Detroit, which also uses Lake Huron as its source *** showed that hot water samples generally contained elevated levels of regulated and priority unregulated DBPs compared to cold water samples, but trihalomethanes were still within regulatory limits. Overall, hot shower water from Flint was similar to waters sampled from the three other cities and did not have unusually high levels of DBPs or other organic chemicals that could be responsible for the skin rashes observed by residents. It is possible that an inorganic chemical or microbial contaminant may be responsible.

Effect of Downward Seepage on Turbulent Flow Characteristics and Bed Morphology around Bridge Piers

The paper attempts to provide a possible hedging strategy against reduction in equity valuations due to inflation, using commodity futures. Commodity futures for four commodities namely pepper, steel, wheat and mustard seed are used along with sector equity indices of National Stock Exchange （NSE）, India to determine plausible benefits of hedging equity risks with commodity futures. The effectiveness of the hedged portfolios is tested using standard statistical methods. The risk and return of a portfolio hedged with commodity future is compared with an equity only portfolio. Statistical analysis of portfolio returns for hedged and un-hedged portfolio provides strong evidence for using of commodity futures as a hedging instrument for equities in an inflationary environment.

In this work, experimental investigations have been pursued to analyse the influence of downward seepage on the turbulent characteristics of flow and corresponding changes in vortex structure around circular bridge pier in alluvial channel. Experiments were conducted in sand bed channel with circular piers of different sizes for no seepage, 10% seepage and 20% seepage cases. The measurement of turbulent flow statistics such as velocity and Reynolds stresses is found to be negative within the scour hole at upstream of the pier whereas application of downward seepage retards the reversal of the flow causing a decrement in the velocity and Reynolds stresses. Higher Reynolds shear stress prevails at the downstream side because of the production of wake vortices. Contribution of all bursting events to the total Reynolds shear stress production has been observed to increase with downward seepage. The analysis of integral scale suggest that size of eddies increases with seepage, which is responsible for increase in particle mobility. Initially rate of scouring is more which abatements gradually with expanding time as well as with the increased of downward seepage. Presence of downward seepage reduces the depth and length of vortex and shifts towards downstream side of the pier.
