Substrate Evolution to Microstructural and Optoelectrical Properties of Evaporated CdS Thin Films Correlated with Elemental Composition

A typical high-e fficiency solar cell device needs the best lattice matching between different constituent layers to mitigate the open-circuit voltage loss. In the present work, the physical properties of CdS thin films are investigated where films with 100 nm thickness were fabricated on the different types of substrates viz. soda–lime glass, indium-doped tin oxide(ITO)-and fl uorine-doped tin oxide(FTO)-coated glass substrates, and silicon wafer using electron beam evaporation. The X-ray diffraction patterns confirmed that deposited thin films showed cubic phase and had(111) as predominant orientation where the structural parameters were observed to be varied with nature of substrates. The ohmic behaviour of the CdS films was disclosed by current–voltage characteristics, whereas the scanning electron microscopy micrograph revealed the uniform deposition of the CdS films with the presence of round-shaped grains. The elemental analysis confirmed the CdS films deposition where the Cd/S weight percentage ratio was changed with nature of substrates. The direct energy band gap was observed in the 1.63–2.50 eV range for the films grown on different substrates. The investigated properties of thin CdS layers demonstrated that the selection of substrate(in terms of nature) during device fabrication plays a crucial role.

Target coverage and continuous connection are the major recital factors for Wireless Sensor Network(WSN).Several previous research works studied various algorithms for target coverage difficulties;however they lacked to focus on improving the network’s life time in terms of *** research work mainly focuses on target coverage and area coverage problem in a heterogeneous WSN with increased network *** dynamic behavior of the target nodes is unpredictable,because the target nodes may move at any time in any direction of the ***,target coverage becomes a major problem in WSN and its *** solve the issue,this research work is motivated to design and develop an intelligent model named Distributed Flexible Wheel Chain(DFWC)model for efficient target coverage and area coverage in WSN *** number of target nodes is covered by minimum number of sensor nodes that can improve energy *** be specific,DFWC motivated at obtaining lesser connected target coverage,where every target is available in the monitoring area is covered by a smaller number of sensor *** simulation results show that the proposed DFWC model outperforms the existing models with improved performance.

Induction motor drives(IMDs)can achieve high performance levels comparable to dc motor drives.A major problem in getting high dynamic performance in an IMD is the coupling between theflux and torque producing components of stator *** is successfully overcome in FOC(Field-Oriented Control)IM,making it to the industry standard *** performance of an IMD with an improved power quality converter at the front end is presented in this *** the IMD,boost converter is employed to reduce power quality difficulties at the utility *** the boost converter contains only one switch,it results in a low processing time and *** ensure sinusoidal supply currents with high PF(Power Factor)and minimal THD(Total Harmonic Distortion),a novel PFC(Power Factor Corrector)control technique is *** enhance the performance of the converter and to lower distortions at the motor side,PI(Proportional Integral)controller is incorporated at the PFC *** it controls the DC bus *** proposed boost converter improves power quality by lowering overall harmonic distortion of AC mains current,improving power factor correction,and regulating dc-link *** is designed,modelled,and simulated in the MATLAB/simulink *** a DSP(Digital Signal Processor),the suggested system’s performance is experimentally *** system’s performance is evaluated for speed and load torque,and the power quality indices are determined to meet IEEE-519 standards under all operating *** the obtained results,it is evident that the proposed system mitigates the power quality issues effectively.

Effective and Efficient Feature Selection for Large-scale Data Using Bayes' Theorem

This paper proposes one method of feature selection by using Bayes＇ theorem. The purpose of the proposed method is to reduce the computational complexity and increase the classification accuracy of the selected feature subsets. The dependence between two attributes （binary） is determined based on the probabilities of their joint values that contribute to positive and negative classification decisions. If opposing sets of attribute values do not lead to opposing classification decisions （zero probability）, then the two attributes are considered independent of each other, otherwise dependent, and one of them can be removed and thus the number of attributes is reduced. The process must be repeated on all combinations of attributes. The paper also evaluates the approach by comparing it with existing feature selection algorithms over 8 datasets from University of California, Irvine （UCI） machine learning databases. The proposed method shows better results in terms of number of selected features, classification accuracy, and running time than most existing algorithms.

Stigma Receptivity Is Controlled by Functionally Redundant MAPK Pathway Components in Arabidopsis

In angiosperms,the process of pollination relies on species-specific interaction and signaling between the male(pollen)and female(pistil)counterparts where the interplay between several pollen and stigma proteins decides the fate of the *** Brassicaceae,the dry stigmatic papillary cells control pollen germination by releasing resources only to compatible pollen thereby allowing pollen to hydrate and *** the identification of a number of stigmatic proteins that facilitate pollination responses,the signaling mechanisms that regulate functions of these proteins have remained ***,we show that,in Arabidopsis,an extremely functionally redundant mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)cascade is required for maintaining stigma receptivity to accept compatible *** genetic analyses demonstrate that in stigmas,five MAPK kinases(MKKs),MKK1/2/3/7/9 are required to transmit upstream signals to two MPKs,MPK3/4,to mediate compatible *** functions of these five MKKs in the quintuple mutant(mkk1/2/3RNAi/mkk7/9)phenocopied pollination defects observed in the m pk4RNAi/m pk3 double *** further show that this MAPK nexus converges on Exo70A1,a previously identified stigma receptivity factor essential for *** that pollination is the crucial initial step during plant reproduction,understanding the mechanisms that govern successful pollination could lead to development of strategies to improve crop yield.

Does aspirin or non-aspirin non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug use prevent colorectal cancer in inflammatory bowel disease?

AIM: To determine whether aspirin or non-aspirin nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NA-NSAIDs) prevent colorectal cancer(CRC) in patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).METHODS: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis. We searched for articles reporting the risk of CRC in patients with IBD related to aspirin or NANSAID use. Pooled odds ratios(OR) and 95%CIs were determined using a random-effects model. Publication bias was assessed using Funnel plots and Egger's test. Heterogeneity was assessed using Cochran's Q and the I2 ***: Eight studies involving 14917 patients and 3 studies involving 1282 patients provided data on the risk of CRC in patients with IBD taking NA-NSAIDs and aspirin respectively. The pooled OR of developing CRC after exposure to NA-NSAIDs in patients with IBD was 0.80(95%CI: 0.39-1.21) and after exposure to aspirin it was 0.66(95%CI: 0.06-1.39). There was significant heterogeneity(I2 > 50%) between the studies. There was no change in the effect estimates on subgroup a na ly s e s o f t he po pulat io n s t udie d o r w he t he r adjustment or matching was ***: There is a lack of high quality evidence on this important clinical topic. From the available evidence NA-NSAID or aspirin use does not appear to be chemopreventative for CRC in patients with IBD.

Dear Editor, microRNAs （miRNAs） are short non-coding RNAs that play crucial roles in plant development and responses to biotic and abiotic stresses, miRNA biogenesis starts with the tran- scription of a hairpin-forming pri-miRNA that is sequentially cleaved yielding a duplex RNA molecule consisting of the mature miRNA （typically 21-22 nt in length） and miRNA＊. Typically, mature miRNAs are the active forms and are incor- porated into different RNA-induced silencing complexes that regulate gene expression by inhibition of translation or cleavage of complementary mRNAs （reviewed in Axtell et al., 2011）.
