Thickness Dependent Physical Properties of Thermally Evaporated Nanocrystalline CdSe Thin Films

This paper presents a study on thickness dependent physical properties of cadmium selenide thin films. The films of thickness 445, 631 and 810 nm were deposited employing thermal evaporation technique on glass and ITO-coated glass substrates followed by thermal annealing in air atmosphere at 200 °C. These films were subjected to X-ray diffractometer, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, scanning electron microscopy（SEM） and electrometer for structural, optical,surface morphological and electrical analysis respectively. The structural analysis reveals that the films are nanocrystalline in nature with cubic phase and preferred orientation（111）. The crystallographic parameters such as lattice constant, interplanar spacing, grain size, internal strain, dislocation density, number of crystallites per unit area and texture coefficient are calculated and discussed. The optical band gap is found in the range 1.75-1.92 e V and observed to increase with *** SEM study shows that the annealed films are uniform, fully covered and well defined. The electrical analysis shows that the conductivity is varied with film thickness and found within the order of semiconductor behavior.

Ulcerative colitis(UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel condition characterised by a relapsing and remitting course. Symptom control has been the traditional mainstay of medical treatment. It is well known that histological inflammatory activity persists despite adequate symptom control and absence of endoscopic inflammation. Current evidence suggests that presence of histological inflammation poses a greater risk of disease relapse and subsequent colorectal cancer risk. New endoscopic technologies hold promise for developing endoscopic markers of mucosal inflammation. Achieving endoscopic and histological remission appears be the future aim of medical treatments for UC. This review article aims to evaluate the use of endoscopy as a tool in assessment of mucosal inflammation UC and its correlation with disease outcomes.

Carbon quantum dot/carbon dot(CD)exhibiting sustained photoluminescence at longer wavelengths in aqueous solution is difficult to prepare,but has enormous potential in biomedical *** the first time,we report the magnesium(II)selective fluorescence enhancement of a red-light emitting anthrarufin and boric acid-derived CD in aqueous solution for direct evaluation of creatine kinase(CK)enzyme *** CD displayed visually detectable,intense red fluorescence only in the presence of magnesium ion(Mg^2+)at physiological pH value when irradiated with an ultraviolet(UV)***,a significant increase in steady-state fluorescence intensity and fluorescence lifetime was documented.A time-dependent density functional theory(TD-DFT)analysis displayed a bathochromic shift in UV–visible(vis)absorption,and increased oscillator strength of transition resulting from the selective chelation of Mg^2+withβ-hydroxy keto functionality on the surface of the *** CD–Mg^2+assembly was subsequently used to conceptualize the detection of CK directly through the exploration of the differential binding affinity of Mg2+with adenosine triphosphate(ATP),adenosine diphophate(ADP),and CD that is otherwise not possible with commercially available kits as of ***,the report delineated here usher grandeur potential of CD for biological explorations related to Mg2+or ATP sensing and monitoring of Mg^2+-dependent enzymatic activity through a clear understanding of the chemistry.

Clay mineralogy,texture size and statistical analyses were carried out on surface sediments from the continental shelf of Chennai,Bay of Bengal,*** purpose of this study is to characterize the clay mineral distribution and its relation to the hydrodynamics off Chennai to identify the sources and transport pathways of the marine *** of clay minerals in coastal sediments by Fourier Transform Infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy has provided the association of quartz,feldspar,kaolinite,chlorite,illite and iron oxides(magnetite and hematite) derived from river catchments and coastal ***,chlorite,illite,iron oxides,and organic matter are the dominant minerals in Cooum,and Adayar *** quartz and feldspar zones were identified in Marina,which are being confined the sand zone and paralleling the *** strong relationships among the wave energy density,sand,quartz and carbonate revealed that wave induced littoral drift system play a dominant role in transportation and deposition of sediments in the Chennai *** sediment texture and minerals data are in agreement well with the previous results of hydrodynamics and littoral drift models in this *** statistical analyses(correlation,cluster and factor analyses) were carried out and obtained results suggested that clay minerals and organic matter are trapped in silt and clay particles,whereas quartz,feldspar and carbonate are associated with sand *** of sediment sources and transport processes from this study will be useful to predict the fate of the pollutants released from land or the potential change in sediment delivery to coastal areas.
