Soil ecosystem is experiencing stresses due to climate change,and soil inhabitants try to demonstrate their inherent resistance and resilience against those *** of nanomaterials as agricultural inputs could bring shifts in resistance and resilience patterns of soil microbes and associated enzymes,especially under short-term heat *** this background,the impacts of multi-walled carbon nanotube(MWCNT)on the resistance and resilience of soil biological indicators were *** incubation experiment was conducted with varied MWCNT concentrations(0,50,100,250,and 500 mg kg-1soil)for 90 d after 24-h heat stress at 48±2?C to assess the impacts of MWCNT on soil enzyme activities and microbial populations vis-à-vis their resistance and resilience indices under short-term exposure to heat *** activities were reduced after exposure to heat *** indices of enzyme activities were enhanced by MWCNT application on day 1 after heat stress,whereas there was no recovery of enzyme activities after 90-d *** soil enzyme activities,resistance index values of soil microbial populations followed the similar trend and were improved by MWCNT ***-walled carbon nanotube has the potential to improve resistance indices of soil enzyme activities and microbial populations under heat stress,although they could not recover to their original state during periodical incubation after heat *** study helps to understand the relative changes of biological indicators under MWCNT and their ability to withstand heat stress.

Cutaneous leiomyomas are rare, benign smooth muscle tumors, characterized by painful nodules in most of the cases. They can occur in multiple disseminated, segmental or zosteriform and solitary forms. Segmental or zosteriform leiomyoma can occur either alone(Type Ⅰ), or with scattered nonsegmental lesions elsewhere(Type Ⅱ); the latter variety occurring rarely. Here we present a case of Type Ⅱ zosteriform leiomyoma in a middle aged individual.

Verrucous epidermal naevus(VEN) is a rare form of epidermal naevus. We present a case of VEN occurring over the perianal region of a 7-year-old boy. The lesion was initially thought to be an area of chronic dermatitis; however it was refractory to treatment. Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of VEN. VEN in the inguinogenital region may be misdiagnosed as flexural psoriasis, genital warts or sexual abuse. This is what precisely happened to our patient for a duration of more than 1 year.

Glutathione transferase-P1-1 (hGSTP1-1), which is associated with acquired drug resistance in some tumour cells, requires two identical subunits for full activity. Naturally occurring inhibitors for GSTP1-1 quaternary structure could be interesting therapeutic agents. The aim of this study was to investigate potential binding sites for hGSTP1-1 interaction with ligands many of which occur naturally. Simulations were performed with commercial docking software and with GST monomer or dimer as template. Docking results using hGSTP1-1 dimer showed one binding site for most of the ligands tested. Lycopene, glutathione, ellagic acid, ethacrynic acid, quercetin, caffeic acid, ferulic acid, porphyrin, curcumin, cinnamic acid, and also α-tocopherol bound at the enzyme dimer subunit-subunit interface. In contrast, investigations using hGSTP1-1 monomer revealed three additional sites for ligand binding. In conclusion, the docking simulations suggest that the enzyme subunit interface may be important for hGSTP1-1 interactions with ligands. These findings may provide valuable insights for further research to identify naturally occurring therapeutic agents.

Genetic Diversity Analysis of Rice Germplasm in Tripura State of Northeast India Using Drought and Blast Linked Markers

We genotyped 74 rice germplasms including Tripura＇s local landraces, improved varieties, cultivars and breeding lines and other rice varieties using molecular markers for genetic diversity, drought QTLs, and blast resistance genes. The number of alleles per locus ranged from 2 to 5 with an average of 2.9. The polymorphic information content value per locus ranged from 0.059（RM537） to 0.755（RM252） with an average of 0.475. Cluster analysis based on 30 simple sequence repeat markers revealed 5 clusters and also indicated the presence of variability within the rice accessions. The drought QTL q DTY2.1 was found in 56.0% of germplasms and q DTY1.1 was detected in only 6.8% of the germplasms. Out of seven rice blast resistance genes screened, only two rice varieties, RCPL-1-82 and Buh Vubuk（Lubuk）, were positive for four blast resistance genes while only Releng possessed two blast resistance genes. Among 74 rice germplasms, only three accessions, Releng, RCPL1-82 and Buh Vubuk（Lubuk）, possessed both drought-related QTLs and blast resistance genes. Overall, the 74 indigenous rice genotypes showed low level of genetic diversity, which is in contrast to high level of genetic diversity among rice varieties in northeast India, where highlights the good farming practice, conservation of germplasms and the limitation of molecular markers employed in this study. The presence of both drought related QTLs and blast resistance genes in some of the germplasms can be useful in future breeding programmes.

The use of the optoelectronic properties of noble metal nanoparticles has given a new dimension to the realm of cancer diagnosis and therapy(theranostics).The multifunctional catalytic properties and surface plasmon resonance of noble metal nanoparticles(NPs)along with their facile surface chemistry gives them an edge in the field of biology,including for immunotherapeutic *** a previous study,we reported the anticancer efficacy of silver NPs coated with murine serum albumin against fibrosarcoma in an in vivo mouse model,highlighting their role in eliciting oxystress and immune *** addition to addressing the bioavailability and toxicity parameters,our study reported that there was a significant reduction in the size,as well as a delay in the incidence of tumors with AgNP-MSA *** electron micrographs revealed AgNP-MSA uptake by sentinel immune cells associated with the tumor along with the downregulation of pro-tumorigenic inflammatory cytokines,such as TNF-α,IL-6 and IL-1β.

Na_(0.5)Bi_(0.5)TiO_(3)-based lead-free piezoelectrics are considered for potential replacement of the lead-based commercial piezoceramics in high-power transducer *** have examined the role of grain size in influencing the structural-polar inhomogeneity of stoichiometric and off-stoichiometric Na_(0.5)Bi_(0.5)TiO_(3)(NBT),and its morphotropic-phase-boundary(MPB)derivative 0.94Na_(0.5)Bi_(0.5)TiO_(3)-0.06BaTiO_(3)(NBT-6BT).Our study reveals that size effect comes into play in these systems on a very large length scale(on the scale of microns)considerably affecting its global structure and properties.
