A survey on communication protocols and performance evaluations for Internet of Things

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a large-scale network of devices capable of sensing, data processing, and communicating with each other through different communication protocols. In today's technology ecosystem, IoT interacts with many application areas such as smart city, smart building, security, traffic, remote monitoring, health, energy, disaster, agriculture, industry. The IoT network in these scenarios comprises tiny devices, gateways, and cloud platforms. An IoT network is able to keep these fundamental components in transmission under many conditions with lightweight communication protocols taking into account the limited hardware features (memory, processor, energy, etc.) of tiny devices. These lightweight communication protocols affect the network traffic, reliability, bandwidth, and energy consumption of the IoT application. Therefore, determining the most proper communication protocol for application developers emerges as an important engineering problem. This paper presents a straightforward overview of the lightweight communication protocols, technological advancements in application layer for the IoT ecosystem. The survey then analyzes various recent lightweight communication protocols and reviews their strengths and limitations. In addition, the paper explains the experimental comparison of constrained Applications Protocol (coAP), Message Queuing Telemetry (MQTT), and WebSocket protocols, more convenient for tiny IoT devices. Finally, we discuss future research directions of communication protocols for IoT.

Privacy-preserving online disease prediction and diagnosis are critical issues in the emerging edge-cloud-based healthcare *** patient data pro-cessing from remote places may lead to severe privacy ***,the existing cloud-based healthcare system takes more latency and energy consumption during diagnosis due to ofﬂoading of live patient data to remote cloud *** the privacy *** proposed research introduces the edge-cloud enabled privacy-preserving healthcare system by exploiting additive homomorphic encryption *** can help maintain the privacy preservation and conﬁdentiality of patients’medical data during diagnosis of Parkinson’s *** addition,the energy and delay aware computational ofﬂoading scheme is proposed to minimize the uncertainty and energy consumption of end-user *** proposed research maintains the better privacy and robustness of live video data processing during prediction and diagnosis compared to existing health-care systems.

Variation of turbidity during subsurface abstraction of river water: A case study

Rivers are known to carry sediment loads. Many rivers in Asia including kosi, Brahmaputra, Bagmati rivers in India and Yellow and Yarlung Tsangpo rivers in china are well known for their carriage of excessive sediment loads. In India, many water abstraction units are located along river banks. Their success depends on how the sediment load is trapped as the sediment laden water flows towards the pumping wells located few hundred meters away from river bank. In this work, based on the analysis of a data of one year on suspended load variations in a canal, located at Haridwar, India, trap efficiency variations are studied during the passage of source water to the abstraction well. considering the subsurface basin, located within the source water and the abstraction well, as a hypothetical settling basin, variation of trap efficiency is related with the influent concentration. It is observed that the trap efficiency depends on the influent concentration. Appropriate functional forms for the variation of trap efficiency with the influent concentrations are also identified.

An Unusual, Fangless Short-tailed Snake(Squamata, Serpentes, Homalopsidae) from Sumatra, Indonesia

Two genera of fangless homalopsid snakes Brachyorrhos and calamophis from eastern Indonesia have been described as basal members of the clade. A third genus belonging to this group from Sumatra, Indonesia is described here based upon morphology. Fangless homalopsid snakes share 19 dorsal scale rows at mid-body, fused dorsal scales above the cloaca, 5 to 7 upper labials, divided anal plate, divided subcaudals, 15-21 teeth on the dentary, frontal bone about 23% of skull length and other morphological characters that suggest they are related. All the three genera are known only from Indonesia. The new genus and species have a distinctive skull morphology with an absent premaxilla, a more depressed skull, and a larger eye than are present in Brachyorrhos.

One of the recent advancements in the electrical power systems is the smart-grid *** the effective functioning of the smart grid,the process like monitoring and controlling have to be given *** this paper,the Wireless Sensor Network(WSN)is utilized for tracking the power in smart grid *** smart grid is used to produce the electricity and it is connected with the sensor to transmit or receive the *** data is transmitted quickly by using the Probabilistic Neural Network(PNN),which aids in identifying the shortest path of the *** transmitting the data from the smart grid to the(Internet of Things)IoT web page,it is secured by introducing the secret keys between the neighbouring nodes through the process of *** this method,the combination of Lagrange’s theorem and the Location Based key(LBk)management is used for better security *** approach deli-vers optimal performance in terms of security,throughput,packet loss and delay,which are comparatively better than the existing methods.

Binding interaction of phosphorus heterocycles with bovine serum albumin:A biochemical study

Interaction between bovine serum albumin(BSA) and phosphorus heterocycles(PHs) was studied using multispectroscopic techniques. The results indicated the high binding affinity of PHs to BSA as it quenches the intrinsic fluorescence of BSA. The experimental data suggested the fluorescence quenching mechanism between PHs and BSA as a dynamic quenching. From the UV–vis studies, the apparent association constant(k_(app)) was found to be 9.25×10~2, 1.27×10~4and 9.01×10~2L/mol for the interaction of BSA with PH-1, PH-2 and PH-3,respectively. According to the F?rster's non-radiation energy transfer(FRET) theory, the binding distances between BSA and PHs were calculated. The binding distances(r) of PH-1, PH-2 and PH-3 were found to be2.86, 3.03, and 5.12 nm, respectively, indicating energy transfer occurs between BSA and PHs. The binding constants of the PHs obtained from the fluorescence quenching data were found to be decreased with increase of temperature. The negative values of the thermodynamic parameters ΔH, ΔS and ΔG at different temperatures revealed that the binding process is spontaneous; hydrogen bonds and van der Waals interaction were the main force to stabilize the complex. The microenvironment of the protein-binding site was studied by synchronous fluorescence and circular dichroism(cD) techniques and data indicated that the conformation of BSA changed in the presence of PHs. Finally, we studied the BSA-PHs docking using Auto Dock and results suggest that PHs is located in the cleft between the domains of BSA.

Novel AR-based interface for human-robot interaction and visualization

Intuitive and efficient interfaces for human- robot interaction （HRI） have been a challenging issue in robotics as it is essential for the prevalence of robots supporting humans in key areas of activities. This paper presents a novel augmented reality （AR） based interface to facilitate human-virtual robot interaction. A number of human-virtual robot interaction methods have been for- mulated and implemented with respect to the various types of operations needed in different robotic applications. A Euclidean distance-based method is developed to assist the users in the interaction with the virtual robot and the spatial entities in an AR environment. A monitor-based visualization mode is adopted as it enables the users to perceive the virtual contents associated with different interaction methods, and the virtual content augmented in the real environment is informative and useful to the users during their interaction with the virtual robot. case researches are presented to demonstrate the successful implementation of the AR-based HRI interface in planning robot pick-and-place operations and path following operations.

cryptic species composition and genetic diversity within Bemisia tabaci complex in soybean in India revealed by mtcOI DNA sequence

Bemisia tabaci is a cryptic species complex, causing signiifcant loss on many agricultural y important crops worldwide. knowledge on species composition and diversity within B. tabaci complex is critical for evolving sustainable pest management strategies. Here we investigate the whitelfy species complex in soybean in major soybean growing states of India. The mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase gene subunit-1 (mtcOI) based phylogenetic relationships established using Bayesian methods indicated the existence of three cryptic species namely Asia I, Asia II 1, and Asia II 7. Al the haplotypes detected in the study could be assigned to these three cryptic species fol owing the species demarcation criteria of 3.5%divergence threshold. Of these, Asia II 1 was found to be predominant with wide spread distribution across the surveyed regions from cool temperate zones to hot and humid tropical plains. On the contrary, cryptic species Asia II 7 showed localized distribu-tion. The Asia II 1 exhibited the highest haplotype diversity and Asia I showed high level of nucleotide diversity. There was a signiifcantly high genetic differentiation among these three cryptic species. The MEAM 1, a dreadful invasive species was not detected in the specimens tested in the current study. The diversity and distribution of three cryptic species is discussed in the light of current knowledge on distribution of whitelfy species in India and yel ow mosaic disease observed during sampling survey.

The Formation of Nano-Size SiO_2 Thin Film on an Aluminum Plate with Hexamethyldisilazane (HMDSA) and Hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDSO)

This study is using HMDSA (c6H19NSi2) or HMDSO (c6H18OSi2) vapor into c3H8/air premixed flames to form SiO2 thin film on the surface of an aluminum plate. With the addition of HMDSO or HMDSA to premixed flames, an orange secondary flame or a flame brush appeared and was contributed to the formation of Sio2 particles. Based upon the EDS, XPS and FTIR analysis, it is believed that the synthesized products consist of mainly SiO2 and a small amount of SiO. The pure SiO2 crystal structure, was proved by XRD analysis, which may form from the SiO2 amorphous structure after high temperature (1300c) thermal treatment. The nano-size SiO2 particles, which ranged from 2.5-25 nm, are proved by analysis of the BET and TEM. A 2-D cFD-Rc code with 12 reduced chemical reaction mechanism, based upon the SIMPLER procedure, was successfully employed to predict the flame temperature and both of the SiO2 and SiO concentration profiles. compared with the experimental results, the calculated temperature profiles in the post-flame region are in good agreement with the measured data and observation phenomena.
