Geochemistry and depositional environment of fuchsite quartzites from Sargur Group,western Dharwar craton,India

Meso-Neoarchean fuchsite quartzites are present in different stratigraphic positions of Dharwar craton including the oldest(~3.3 Ga)Sargur Group of western Dharwar *** present study deals with the petro-graphic and geochemical characteristics of the fuchsite quartzites from the Ghattihosahalli belt to evaluate their genesis,depositional setting and the enigma involved in the ancient sedimentation *** major mineral assemblages include quartz,fuchsite,and feldspars along with accessory kyanite and *** geochemical com-positions are characterized by high SiO_(2),Al_(2)O_(3),low MgO,caO,strongly enriched cr(1326–6899 ppm),Ba(1165–3653 ppm),Sr(46–210 ppm),V(107–868 ppm)and Zn(11–158 ppm)contents compared to the upper continental crust(Ucc).The Ucc normalized rare earth element(REE)patterns are characterized by depleted light REE[(La/Sm)Ucc=0.33–0.95]compared to heavy REE[(Gd/Yb)_(Ucc)=0.42–1.65]with conspicuous positive Eu-anomalies(Eu/Eu^(*)=1.35–18.27)characteristic of hydrothermal solutions evidenced through the interlayered *** overall major and trace element systematics reflect a combined mafic-felsic provenance and suggest their deposition at a passive continental margin *** comprehensivefield,petrographic,and geo-chemical studies indicate that these quartzites are infiltrated by cr-richfluids released during high-grade metamorphism of associated ultramafic *** Sargur and the subse-quent Dharwar orogeny amalgamated diverse lithounits from different tectonic settings,possibly leading to the release of cr-richfluids and the formation of fuchsite quartzite during or after the *** sug-gest a pre-existing stable crust prior to the Sargur Group and the link between orogenic events and various mineral deposits in the Dharwar craton.

Effect of cadmium on the Hatching ofMetaphire posthuma cocoons

Earthworms are considered ideal soil organisms for use in terrestrial ecotoxicology. Due to theirsusceptibility of heavy metals, the effect of cadmium on the hatching of M. posthuma cocoons wasstudied. The hatching was observed by the water incubation method and the doses of cd were 0,1.25, 2.5, 5.0, 10.0 and 40.0ppm. The0 and 1.25 ppm treated cocoons hatched within 45-60 days at 20℃ with 80% hatching rate and one juvenile per cocoon; no hatching was observed athigher concentrations. Furihermore, there was a linear increase in cd residue in the treated co-coons. These results are apparently ill effects of cd on embryonic development of the earthworms

A novel non-invasive model to predict high-risk varices in cirrhotic patients

Acute variceal bleeding is one of the most common and potentially life-threatening complications in patients with liver *** is conventionally diagnosed by oesophagogastroduodenoscopy,which is invasive to patients and carries hospital *** would be more cost-effective if non-invasive tests could screen out high-risk patients who developed acute variceal bleeding requiring endoscopic *** can potentially reduce the need for invasive procedures for cirrhotic *** recent years,there have been advancements in non-invasive methods for assessing the risk of variceal *** include transient elastography(FibroScan)of the liver and spleen,platelet count,imaging modalities[ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)],and non-invasive liver function tests[child-Pugh score or the Model for End-Stage Liver Disease(MELD)score].The 2015 Baveno VI consensus is developed by an international panel of experts to improve the diagnosis and management of portal hypertension and its complications,specifically focusing on variceal bleeding in patients with cirrhosis(1).The consensus emphasizes using noninvasive methods to screen out high-risk varices(HRV)requiring therapeutic *** key features of the Baveno VI criteria include a liver stiffness measurement(LSM)kPa and a platelet count>150,000/*** can confidently rule out *** has been proven to avoid unnecessary endoscopy up to 40%with a specificity of up to 46%(2).In recent years,spleen stiffness measurement(SSM)has been a useful tool to assess portal hypertension and to predict ***,the revised Baveno VII consensus in 2022 recommends SSM≤40 kPa would avoid more unnecessary endoscopy in patients who fall outside Baveno VI criteria,with a missed HRV rate of<5%(3).

Optimizing the aeration performance of a perforated pooled circular stepped cascade aerator using hybrid ANN-PSO technique

Artificial aeration system for aquaculture ponds becomes essential to meet the oxygen requirement posed by the aquatic *** performance of an aerator is generally mea-sured in terms of standard aeration efficiency(SAE),which is significantly affected by the different geometric and dynamic parameters of the ***,to enhance the aer-ation performance of an aerator,these parameters need to be *** the present study,a perforated pooled circular stepped cascade(PPcSc)aerator was developed,and the geometric and dynamic parameters of the developed aerator were optimized using the hybrid ANN-PSO technique for maximizing its aeration *** geometric parameters include consecutive step width ratio(W_(i-1)/W_(i))and the perforation diameter to the bottom-most radius ratio(d/R_(b)),whereas the dynamic parameter includes the water flow rate(Q).A 3–6-1 ANN model coupled with particle swarm optimization(PSO)approach was used to obtain the optimum values of geometric and dynamic parameters correspond-ing to the maximum *** optimal values of the consecutive step width ratio(W_(i-1)/W_(i)),the perforation diameter to the bottom-most radius ratio(d/R_(b)),and the water flow rate(Q)for maximizing the SAE were found to be 1.15,0.0027 and 0.0167 m^(3)/s,*** cross-validation results showed a deviation of 3.07%between the predicted and experimen-tal SAE values,thus confirming the adequacy of the proposed hybrid ANN-PSO technique.

Microstructural characteristics of Underwater Shock consolidated Aluminum composites

Metal matrix composites (MMcs) offer extra strength and high temperature capabilities in comparison with unrein-forced metals. Aluminum composites possess higher stiffness, strength, fatigue properties and low weight advantages. carbon fiber reinforced Al composites (Al-cf) and silicon carbide particulate reinforced Al composites (AI-Sicp) were shock densified using axisymmetric assemblies for underwater explosions. Unidirectional planar shock waves were applied to obtain uniform consolidation of the composites. The energy generator was a high explosive of 6.9 km/s detonation velocity. Irregular morphological powders of Al were the base material. The reinforcement ratio was 15 Vol. pet for Al-cf composites and 30 Vol. pet for AI-Sicp composites. The microstructural and the strength characteristics of the shock consolidated Al composites are reported.

Laurencia nanhaiense ***.,a new species of the genus Laurencia(Rhodomelaceae,Rhodophyta) from china

Laurencia nanhaiense sp. nov. （Rhodomelaceae, Rhodophyta） is described from Hainan and Guangdong Provinces, china. The new species clearly displays one of the defining features of the genus, viz. four periaxial cells per vegetative axial segment. It differs from other closely related species in having a combination of features such as terete axes from a basal system composed of a primary discoid holdfast and a secondary attachment to give rise to many short rhizoids, branching oppositely and alternately, irregularly tristichous or subverticillately polystichous, having more curve branches with very sparse, adventitious ultimate branchlets, non-projecting superficial cortical cells at the apices of ultimate branchlets, presence of longitudinally oriented secondary pit-connections between contiguous superficial cortical cells, absence of lenticular thickenings in the walls of medullary cells, parallel arrangement of tetrasporangia along the axis of stichidia, and presence of intercellular spaces between medullary cells.

Mobile augmented reality visualization and collaboration techniques for on-site finite element structural analysis

In this paper,a mobile augmented reality(AR)framework for on-site finite element analysis(FEA)is *** proposed framework is achieved using a client–server *** performance of FEA relies on several important components,namely,computational power,visualization technique,and numerical *** renders intuitive computer-generated contents directly on a user’s *** FEA with AR helps users through enhancing their perception and interaction with the engineering *** and effective visualization of these data using an AR platform can reduce the misinterpretation in spatial and logical *** the past decade,AR has undergone a transition from desktop to phablet *** platforms enable user exploration of FEA results in *** client side uses a hybrid method to visualize FEA results in the mobile AR *** addition,a user can collaborate with other users by using the result sharing function.A prototype with basic functions has been built and a case study has been implemented to demonstrate the visualization method and evaluate the overall performance.

Bioconvective nanofluid flow over an exponential stretched sheet with thermophoretic particle deposition

The current work is being done to investigate the flow of nanofluids across a porous exponential stretching surface in the presence of a heat source/sink,thermophoretic particle deposition,and *** collection of PDEs(partial differential equations)that represent the fluid moment is converted to a system of ODEs(ordinary differential equations)with the use of suitable similarity variables,and these equations are then numerically solved using Runge kutta Fehlberg and the shooting *** different physical limitations,the numerical results are visually *** results show that increasing the porosity characteristics reduces *** mass transfer decreases as the thermophoretic limitation *** in the porosity parameter reduce skin friction,increases in the solid volume fraction improve the rate of thermal distribution,and increases in the thermophoretic parameter increase the rate of mass transfer.
