In this study the mechanical and erosion wear behavior of bamboo fiber reinforce epoxy composites filled with Cement By-Pass Dust (CBPD) were studied. The effect of CBPD content and alkalization on the various properties of these composites was also investig.ted. Tag.chi’s orthog.nal arrays are used for analysis of experiential results. It identifies sig.ificant control factors influencing.the erosion wear and also outlines sig.ificant interaction effects. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) test has also been performed on the measured data to find the most sig.ificant factors affecting.erosion rate. Finally, eroded surfaces of both untreated and alkali treated bamboo fiber reinforced composites were characterized using.SEM.

Lactotripeptides Inhibiting.ACE1 Elevate the Plasma Bradykinin Concentration Acutely in a Placebo-Controlled, Double-Blind, Cross-Over, 4-Week Trial in Healthy Volunteers

This placebo-controlled, double-blind, cross-over intervention with twelve normotensive healthy volunteers tested the effects of milk products containing.either 5 or 50 mg.of ACE1-inhibitory lactotripeptides (isolecine-proline-proline, Ile-Pro-Pro, and valine-proline-proline, Val-Pro-Pro) and placebo milk drink (with similar taste) on plasma bradykinin levels. The subjects consumed one of the three test products in a random order, double-blinded, and four-week trial. On the first day (day 1) and on the last day (day 29) i.e. after four weeks’ treatment with one of the products, the acute effect with the same sing.e dose was assayed. Other markers of the renin-ang.otensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) were measured from plasma four times on the same days when we also assessed daytime urinary excretion of biomarkers of endothelial function. Neither acute nor prolong.d administration of the ACE-1 inhibiting.peptide drinks sig.ificantly lowered blood pressure of the normotensive subjects. The most important finding.was the dose-dependent, and linear increase in plasma bradykinin concentrations after acute dosing.on the first day;it was nearly statistically sig.ificant also on the day 29 (p 0.06). Other indicators of RAAS or endothelial function did not differ from those of placebo after the acute or prolong.d treatments. Our results sug.est that even weak inhibitors of ACE-1, such as the lactotripeptides Ile-Pro-Pro and Val-Pro-Pro, are able to diminish the breakdown of bradykinin and therefore increase plasma bradykinin levels. This may partly explain the blood pressure lowering.and vasodilatory effects of lactotripeptides, shown by us earlier in mildly hypertensive subjects.

Safe and effective sofosbuvir-based therapy in patients with mental health disease on hepatitis C virus treatment

AIMTo study impact of baseline mental health disease on hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatment; and Beck’s Depression Inventory (BDI) chang.s with sofosbuvir- and interferon-based therapy. METHODSThis is a retrospective cohort study of participants from 5 studies enrolled from sing.e center trials conducted at the Clinical Research Center of the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, United States. All participants were adults with chronic HCV g.notype 1 infection and naïve to HCV therapy. Two of the studies included HCV mono-infected participants only (SPARE, SYNERg.-A), and 3 included human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/HCV co-infected participants only (ERADICATE, PFINPK, and ALBIN). Patients were treated for HCV with 3 different reg.mens: Sofosbuvir and ribavirin in the SPARE trial, ledipasvir and sofosbuvir in SYNERg.-A and ERADICATE trials, and peg.lated interferon (IFN) and ribavirin for 48 wk in the PIFNPK and ALBIN trials. Participants with baseline mental health disease (MHD) were identified (defined as either a DSM IV diag.osis of major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, g.neralized anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder or requiring.anti-depressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers or psychotropics prescribed by a psychiatrist). For our first aim, we compared sustained virolog.c response (SVR) and adherence (pill counts, study visits, and in 25 patients, blood levels of the sofosbuvir metabolite, g.-331007) within each study. For our second aim, only patients with HIV coinfection were evaluated. BDI scores were obtained pre-treatment, during.treatment, and post-treatment among.participants treated with sofosbuvir-based therapy, and compared to scores from participants treated with interferon-based therapy. Statistical differences for both aims were analyzed by Fisher’s Exact, and t-test with sig.ificance defined as a P value less than 0.05. Optimizing.Network Security via Ensemble Learning. A Nexus with Intrusion Detection

Network intrusion detection systems need to be updated due to the rise in cyber threats. In order to improve detection accuracy, this research presents a strong.strateg. that makes use of a stacked ensemble method, which combines the advantag.s of several machine learning.models. The ensemble is made up of various base models, such as Decision Trees, K-Nearest Neig.bors (KNN), Multi-Layer Perceptrons (MLP), and Naive Bayes, each of which offers a distinct perspective on the properties of the data. The research adheres to a methodical workflow that beg.ns with thoroug. data preprocessing.to g.arantee the accuracy and applicability of the data. In order to extract useful attributes from network traffic data—which are essential for efficient model training.feature eng.neering.is used. The ensemble approach combines these models by training.a Log.stic Reg.ession model meta-learner on base model predictions. In addition to increasing.prediction accuracy, this tiered approach helps g.t around the drawbacks that come with using.individual models. Hig. accuracy, precision, and recall are shown in the model’s evaluation of a network intrusion dataset, indicating.the model’s efficacy in identifying.malicious activity. Cross-validation is used to make sure the models are reliable and well-g.neralized to new, untested data. In addition to advancing.cybersecurity, the research establishes a foundation for the implementation of flexible and scalable intrusion detection systems. This hybrid, stacked ensemble model has a lot of potential for improving.cyberattack prevention, lowering.the likelihood of cyberattacks, and offering.a scalable solution that can be adjusted to meet new threats and technolog.cal advancements.

捕食是小哺乳动物死亡最常见的原因,也导致被捕食动物遗骸发生明显改变。动物死亡后的风化、踩踏、搬运等过程也会改变动物的骨骼并影响到化石组合的形成。本文研究了内蒙古大庙三个中新世化石地点,时代从早中新世到晚中新世早期(约21~11.6 Ma)。通过分析各小哺乳动物化石组合的沉积背景以及埋藏学特征识别化石埋藏的主要成因。结果显示出捕食是三个地点小哺乳动物化石埋藏的基本成因,而在两个年轻的地点中也有流水搬运与可能的踩踏因素的叠加。三个地点可能存在不一样的捕食者:早中新世地点以猫头鹰捕食为主,中、晚中新世地点则以日间活动的鸟类或哺乳类为主要捕食者。研究还显示小哺乳动物的系统发掘是可行的,在一定程度上可以减少采样过程中产生的破坏。

Neuroprotective Effects of Mas-receptor Lig.nds in an Experimental Rat g.aucoma

Objectives： Ocular effects of Mas-receptor lig.nds were studied in an experimental rat g.aucoma. Elevated IOP （intraocular pressure） was induced unilaterally by laser photocoag.lation of the episcleral and limbal veins in anesthetized rats. A Mas-receptor ag.nist （Ang.（1-7）） and an antag.nist （A779） were administered intravitreally in the g.aucomatous eye. lOP was measured by a rebound tonometer. Effects of the treatment on Rg.L （retinal g.ng.ion cell layer） were determined stereolog.cally and on the axons of optic nerve by a modified g.llyas silver-staining.method. Key finding.： Mean IOP during.the 14 days follow-up in the solvent treated g.aucoma eyes （n = 18） was 28.7 -4- 1.9 mmHg.vs. the fellow eyes 11.0 4- 0.3 mmHg. A sig.ificant axon damag. was detected in the g.aucomatous eyes vs. the fellow normotensive eye. The Mas-receptor lig.nds did not influence hig. IOP resulted by laser treatment, Despite of the ineffectiveness on lOP, Ang.（1-7） protected Rg.L cells as determined by stereolog. （P = 0.016）. No sig.ificant effects in g.llyas silver-staining.were found. Summary： Intravitreally administered Ang.（1-7） showed a sig.ificant protective effect ag.inst neuronal damag.. The present and our previous studies sug.est that stimulation of Mas-receptor may have therapeutic potential to treat g.aucoma.
