The phenomenological non-relativistic quark model （NRQM） has been employed to obtain the masses of bottomonium states. In the frame work of NRQM an exhaustive study of radiative and leptonic decays has been made. The Hamiltonian used in the investigation has kinetic energy, confinement potentiM and one gluon exchange potential （OGEP）. An overall agreement is obtained with the experimental masses and decay widths.

Using the phenomenological relativistic harmonic model （RHM） for quarks, we have obtained the masses of S wave charmonium and bottomonium states. The full Hamiltonian used in the investigation has Lorentz scalar plus vector confinement potential, along with the confined one gluon exchange potential （COGEP）. A good agreement with the experimental masses for the ground and the radially excited states is obtained both for the triplet and singlet S wave mesons. The decay properties of the ground state charmonium and bottomonium are investigated.

We investigate the spectrum and decay rates of charmonium states within the framework of the non relativistic quark model by employing a Coulomb like potential from the perturbative one gluon exchange and the linear confining potential along with the potential derived from instanton vacuum to account for the hyperfine mass splitting of charmonium states in variational approach. We predict radiative E1, M1, two-photon, lepton and two-gluon decay rates of low lying charmonium states. An overall agreement is obtained with the experimental masses and decay *** have estimated the branching ratio of two gluons decaying into light hadrons.

The mass spectrum of the D wave mesons is considered in the frame work of relativistic harmonic model (RHM). The full Hamiltonian used in the investigation has the Lorentz scalar plus a vector harmonic-oscillator potential, the confined-one-gluon-exchange potential (COGEP) and the instanton-induced quark-antiquark interaction (III). A good agreement between calculated D wave meson masses with experimental D wave meson masses is obtained. The respective role of III and COGEP in the D wave meson spectrum is discussed.

The catalytic hydrogenation of nitrobenzene to aniline employing nickel impregnated on rutile,anatase,and high surface area titania supports has been *** nickel is present in elemental state as fcc phase on the catalyst as evidenced by X-ray diffraction *** Ni crystallite size was found to be greater for Ni/*** temperature-programmed reduction results suggest a greater metal-support interaction for Ni/*** observed order of catalytic activity for the hydrogenation of nitrobenzene is Ni/rutile > Ni/anatase > Ni/TiO2.A conversion of 99% was observed for Ni/rutile at 140 oC and hydrogen pressure of 1.96 ***,aniline is the only product formed which demonstrates the catalytic hydrogenation of nitrobenzene proceeds with atom *** Ni/rutile and Ni/anatase exhibited a better stability than Ni/*** hydrogenation proceeds with the preferential adsorption of hydrogen on nickel present in the catalyst surface,possibly assisted by TiOx species.

In the present work, the effect of hexagonal cell size of the core on the fundamental natural frequency of FRP honey-comb sandwich panels has been analyzed both experimentally and by finite element technique. Experimental Modal tests were conducted on hexagonal cell honeycombs ranging in size from 8 mm to 20 mm maintaining the facing thickness constant at around 1mm with two different boundary conditions viz C-F-F-F and C-F-C-F. The traditional “strike method” has been used to measure the vibration properties. The modal characteristics of the specimens have been obtained by studying its impulse response. Each specimen has been subjected to impulses through a hard tipped hammer which is provided with a force transducer and the response has been measured through the accelerometer. The impulse and the response are processed through a computer aided FFT Analyzing test system in order to extract the modal parameters with the aid of software. Theoretical investigations have been attempted with appropriate assumptions to understand the behavior of the honeycomb sandwich panels during dynamic loading and to validate experimental results. Finite Element modeling has been done treating the facing as an orthotropic laminate and Core as orthotropic with different elastic constants as recommended in the literature. The results are presented which show that the theoretical model can accurately predict the fundamental frequency and how honeycombs with difference cell size will perform under dynamic loads.

Background: Although at times small amounts of pleural fluid is detected on the lateral decubitus chest radiograph, this may be impossible to obtain in severely ill patients. Because of its ready availability and ability for bedside imaging, ultrasonography has become a crucial imaging modality not only in detecting the presence of pleural fluid but also as a guide to aspiration. Aims: To sonographically determine the nature of pleural effusions. To analyze predictability of both benign and malignant pleural effusions and to study statistical value of various ultrasound characteristics in differentiating exudative and transudative as well as benign and malignant effusions in correlation with thoracocentesis. Material and Methods: Sonographic feature as well as fluid cytology was evaluated. Following categorization into exudates or transudate as well as benign or malignant the diagnosis was then correlated biochemically. Results: Transudates were anechoic, while an anechoic effusion may be either a transudate or an exudate. Complex septation, internal echoes, thickened pleura or homogeneously echogenic patterns were always exudates. Sonographic findings of pleural nodules and associated parenchymal lesions in the lung and liver were indicative of malignancy. Conclusions: Ultrasound in addition to being highly sensitive for pleural effusion also aided in characterizing the nature and minimizing the complications during thoracocentesis. Pleural effusions were categorized into exudates and transudate as well as benign and malignant with a certain degree of confidence based on sonographic findings.
