Neuroplasticity in Spinal Trauma: A Current Narrative Review of Treatments

Neuroplasticity is a condition that is present from birth, being found in the central and peripheral nervous system, in both physiological and pathological terms. based on the findings, therapeutic and non-therapeutic attempts were tested on spinal cord trauma to recover locomotor function below the level of the injury. The work defined and showed other forms of the term neuroplasticity, talk about some pathological and non-pathological conditions, and, finally, show neuroplasticity and some of its treatments in the spinal cord injury process. A narrative literature review from 2000 to 2020 of the PubMed platform was conducted and analysis of two books for the elaboration of this work. Animal/human studies were included that addressed pathologies, forms of treatment for spinal trauma, and qualis from b1 to A1. Pre-2000 articles, which addressed neuroplasticity only to understand the molecular mechanisms and articles that were not in English, were excluded. As a result, the main molecules and structures that inhibit neuroplasticity were found, and, based on their knowledge, forms of treatments were developed to inhibit these molecules and structures to assist in neuroplasticity and assist in possible functional recovery. It can be concluded that the physiological barriers are already being overcome by the most recent forms of treatment and that soon new studies may propose a form of treatment that is protocoled for all patients.

Acinetobacter baumannii is one of the most prevalent pathogens in nosocomial infections and has been cause of concern in recent years because, it has presented multiresistance to antibiotics and besides can form biofilms on biotic and abiotic surfaces like tissues and medical devices. Therefore, the search for new alternatives of natural origin to inhibit biofilm formation is being conducted. In the present investigation, sub-lethal concentrations (5.61 mg/mL, 3.74 mg/mL and 1.87 mg/mL) of methanolic extract of Nothoscordum bivalve were evaluated, showing biofilm formation inhibition up to 40.8%, in one nosocomial isolated of A. baumannii by the microtiter biofilm formation assay using crystal violet. On the other hand, the concentrations of 5.61 mg/mL and 3.74 mg/mL, caused an overexpression (up to 15.4 times) in the genes involved in the formation of biofilm (abaI, bap and csuE);due to this, the interaction of the extract with the bacteria was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and cellular damage was observed in the structure and stability of biofilm.

Galactic open clusters （OCs） that survive the early gas-expulsion phase are gradually de- stroyed over time by the action of disruptive dynamical processes. Their final evolutionary stages are characterized by a poorly populated concentration of stars called an open cluster remnant （OCR）. This study is devoted to assessing the real physical nature of the OCR candidate NGC 7193. GMOS/Gemini spectroscopy of 53 stars in the inner target region were obtained to derive radial velocities and at- mospheric parameters. We also employed photometric and proper motion data. The analysis method consists of the following steps：（i） analysis of the statistical resemblance between the cluster and a set of field samples with respect to the sequences defined in color-magnitude diagrams （CMDs）; （ii） a 5-dimensional iterative exclusion routine was employed to identify outliers from kinematical and posi- tional data; （iii） isochrone fitting to thes× （J - Ks） CMD of the remaining stars and the dispersion of spectral types along empirical sequences in the （J - H） × （H - Ks） diagram were checked. A group of stars was identified for which the mean heliocentric distance is compatible with that obtained via isochrone fitting and whose metallicities are compatible with each other. Fifteen of the member stars observed spectroscopically were identified together with another 19 probable members. Our results indi- cate that NGC 7193 is a genuine OCR, of a once very populous OC, for which the following parameters were derived： d = 501±46 pc, t = 2.5±1.2 Gyr, （[Fe/H]） = -0.17±0.23 and E（b-V） = 0.05±0.05. Its luminosity and mass functions show depletion of low mass stars, confirming the OCR is in a dynam- ically evolved state.

Long COVID has been studied as different sequelae that some individuals can develop after the acute phase of the disease. Persistent symptoms such as dry cough, fatigue, and dyspnea can remain after six months of COVID-19 cure. Others such as lung fibrosis, kidney injury, and thrombotic risk also are observed. Here, a deep review of each human organ and system infected by the virus was performed aiming to show how molecules expression and cell signaling can induce the organism cure or injuries and, subsequently sequelae. The review also suggests the importance of public health surveillance for these cases including a more comprehensive analysis of molecular biology tools that can clarify and assist in the prognosis, treatment, and preventive methods for potentially more serious disorders in post-COVID-19 patients.

Objectives:To determine whether air pollution or changes in SARS-CoV-2 lineages lead to an increase in ***:Descriptive statistics were used to calculate rates of infection(2020-2021).RT ePCR was used to compare viral loads from October 2020 to February *** sequencing(NGS)(n=92)was used to examine and phylogenetically map SARS-CoV-2 lineages.A correlative“air pollution/temperature”index(I)was developed using regression ***_(2.5),PM_(10),O_(3),NO_(2),SO_(2),and CO concentrations were analyzed and compared to the ***:The mortality rate during the last year was~32%.Relative SARS-CoV-2 viral loads increased in December 2020 and January *** revealed that approximately 80%of SARS-CoV-2 linages were b.1.243(33.7%),b1.1.222(11.2%),b.1.1(9%),b.1(7%),b.1.1.159(7%),and b.1.2(7%).Two periods were analyzed,the prehigh-and high-mortality periods and no significant lineage differences or new lineages were *** correlations of air pollution/temperature index values with mortality were found for IPM_(2.5) and IPM_(10).INO_(2).ISO_(2),and ICO but not for O_(3).Using ICO,we developed a model to predict mortality with an estimated variation of~±5 deaths per day.

The occurrence of antimicrobials in the aquatic environment and drinking water has raised the question of their impact on the environment and public health. Animal production is one of the most expressive activities of brazilian agribusiness. In order to ensure the productivity and competitiveness of the sector, the use of drugs for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes is a common practice. Due to the continuous release of antimicrobials into the environment, the aim of this study was to compare the frequency of detection of tetracyclines and sulfonamides in surface water collected from rural areas in Lidice District of Rio Claro, in the State of Rio de Janeiro, brazil. An investigative study was conducted with 24 river water samples analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry and the aim of this study was to determine residues of sulfonamides and tetracyclines based on the USEPA method 1694. The results indicated the presence of sulfamethoxazole and oxytetracycline concentrations at the ng·L-1 level. The applied method showed overall good performance with recoveries above 57%, method detection limits ≤ 7.17 ng·L-1, method quantification limits ≤ 23.90 ng·L-1 and good linearity.

because the aetiology of chronic pelvic pain is complex, studies of the condition involve extensive investigation but provide few conclusions. Numerous studies have addressed the experiences of women with chronic pelvic pain, as well as the interaction between those women and their health care providers. Our objective was to investigate how physicians at a specialised clinic perceive the medical care provided to such women. This was a qualitative study employing semi-structured interviews and content analysis. We interviewed seven physicians at the Chronic Pelvic Pain Outpatient Clinic of the University Hospital, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeir?o Preto, University of S?o Paulo, brazil. Medical training and practice constituted the central theme of the study, which was subdivided into categories addressing the influence that the current medical training has on the type of medical care provided to women with chronic pelvic pain. Medical practice has been characterised by a reductionist approach to health and illness, as well as by the fragmentation of health care. These characteristics are, to a certain extent, the result of the biomedical model of education, which has been predominant, ignoring social, cultural, psychological and emotional aspects. There is a need to shift the medical paradigms toward a humanistic model of health care. We hope that we have provided a critical view of current medical training and practice, as well as of their effects in various health care settings, particularly in the provision of care to women with chronic pelvic pain.

Chlorhexidine (CHX) is regarded as one of the most successful antiplaque agents in controlling the formation of dental biofilm. Nevertheless, molecular mechanisms of their effects in Streptococcus mutans are largely unknown. In this work, the effects of sub-lethal and lethal concentrations of chlorhexidine (CHX) on planktonic or biofilm-organized Streptococcus mutans cells were investigated in dose- and time-dependent manner. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and the Minimum bactericidal Concentration (MbC) for planktonic cells and biofilm conditions were determined by standard methods. Quantitative PCR (qPCR) was used to quantify the relative levels of glucosyltransferase b (gtfb), gtfC and gtfD transcription of S. mutans in the presence of CHX. The CHX activity in the initial biofilm structure and morphological alterations in planktonic cells were examined by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The results indicate that CHX increased expression of gtfC and gtfD in planktonic S. mutans cells and CHX reduced the expression of gtfb, gtfC, and gtfD in biofilms. High concentrations of CHX resulted in several wilted S. mutans planktonic cells with spilled intracellular material, while decreased cells’ chain length and matrix was found when the initial biofilm was exposed to increasing concentrations of CHX. CHX’s effects against bacteria depend on the type of growth organization and the concentration and time of exposure to the drug. At sub-lethal concentrations, CHX affects the expression of glucosyltransferases, which may have anticariogenic effect.

The Ni-Cr-Mo alloys have been used as dental prostheses because they own a good mechanical strength, high corrosion resistance and even to be economically viable. These alloys corrosion protection against in salt solutions typical of physiological media is due to passivation phenomenon with an oxide surface layer formation, mainly chromium oxides. This protective film, subjected to a mechanical stress in a corrosive environment, can partially dissolve by releasing ions, which have deleterious effects in a human body. Fluoride ions, existing in hygiene products, change the buccal environment and their presence may enable a localized corrosion process initiation. The aim of this work has been to investigate the chemical composition influence of three alloys in corrosion resistance to: A (Ni-73% Cr-14% Mo-8.5% be-1.8% Al-1.8%), b (Ni-61% Cr-25% Mo-10.5% Si-1.5%) and C (Ni-65% Cr-22.5% Mo-9.5%) in media containing fluorides that simulate mouthwashes solution. The study has been done in a 0.05% NaF solution, pH 6, at 37°C using electrochemical techniques. The alloy with the highest nickel and the lowest chromium content is not passive in the middle studied, showing a continuous increase in current density with the potential increasing, while the other alloys show passivation range of 600 mV and passive current density of about 10-6 A/cm2.
