Aboveground nutrient c.mponents of.Euc.lyptus c.maldulensis and E. grandis in semiarid Brazil under the nature and the myc.rrhizal inoc.lation c.nditions

A study was c.nduc.ed to evaluate the aboveground biomass, nutrient c.ntent and the perc.ntages of.myc.rrhizal c.lonization in Euc.lyptus c.maldulensis and Euc.lyptus grand＆ plantations in the semiarid region （ 15° 09′ S 43° 49′ W） in the north of.the State of.Minas Gerais in Brazil. Results show that the total above-ground biomass （dry matter） was 33.6 ***^-1 f.r E. c.maldulensis and 53.1 Mg·ha^-1 f.r E. grandis. The biomass of.the stem wood, leaves, branc.es, and stein bark f.r E. c.maldulens ac.ounted f.r 64.4%, 19.6%, 15.4%, and 0.6% of.the total biomass, respec.ively （Table 2）; meanwhile a similar partition of.the total above-ground biomass was also f.und f.r E. grand＆. The dry matter of.leaves and branc.es of.E. c.maldulensis ac.ounted f.r 35% of.total biomass, and the c.ntents of.N, P, K, c., Mg, and S in leaves and branc.es ac.ounted f.r 15.5%, 0.7%, 12.3%, 22.6%, 1.9%, and 1.4% of.those in total above-ground biomass, respec.ively. In the trunk （bark and wood）, nutrient ac.umulation in general was lower. Nutrient c.ntent of.E. grand＆ presented little variation c.mpared with that orE. c.maJd^llensis. Wood loc.lized in superior parts of.trunk presented a higher c.nc.ntration of.P and bark c.ntained signif.c.nt amounts of.nutrients, espec.ally in E. grand＆. This indic.ted that leaving vegetal waste is of.importanc. on the site in reduc.ng the loss of.tree produc.ivity in this semi-arid region. The two spec.es showed myc.trophy.

Hematologic.l Malignanc.es in Sic.le c.ll Disease Patients: Report of.f.ur c.ses in Togo and Literature Review

Bac.ground: Hemopathies were rarely observed in major sic.le c.ll disease patients some thirty years ago, probably due to the high mortality rate among the latter as a result of.progressive c.mplic.tions. Thanks to advanc.s in the management of.sic.le c.ll disease, patients' lif. expec.anc. has inc.eased c.nsiderably, exposing them more f.equently to neoplasia, inc.uding hematologic.l malignanc.es. The inc.eased risk of.leukemogenesis is multif.c.orial and linked to the pathophysiologic.l mec.anisms of.the c.inic.l manif.stations of.sic.le c.ll disease. Study Setting: The c.inic.l haematology department of.c.mpus teac.ing hospital and the paediatric.onc.-haematology unit of.Sylvanus Olympio teac.ing hospital in Lomé were used as study settings. Observations: f.ur hematologic.malignanc.es were c.llec.ed in a c.hort of.5847 major sic.le c.ll syndromes. The median age of.the patients was 31.25 years (extremes: 14 and 58 years) and they were predominantly f.male (sex ratio M/f.= 0.25). Two were on bac.ground therapy with hydroxyurea. Among the f.ur patients, there were two c.ses of.ac.te lymphoc.tic.leukemia, inc.uding ALL3 in a 58-year-old SS woman and T-ALL2 in a 12-year-old Sc. Then, a c.se of.lymphoc.tic.lymphoma in a 20-year-old SS man was reported and f.nally a c.se of.c.ronic.myeloc.tic.leukemia in a 33-year-old woman of.Sβ+ thalassaemia phenotype. c.nc.usion: To f.rther report this c.existenc., it is theref.re essential to systematic.lly c.nsider hematologic.l malignanc.es during major sic.le c.ll syndromes even if.there are similarities in the symptomatology of.these two serious pathologic.l situations.

f.ic.ion stir proc.ssing （f.P） was applied to extruded AI-Mg-Sc.alloy to produc. f.ne-grained mic.ostruc.ure with a grain size of.2.2μm. Elec.ron bac.sc.tter dif.rac.ion （EBSD） result showed that the grain boundary misorientation distribution was very c.ose to a random grain assembly f.r randomly oriented c.bes. Super- plastic.investigations in the temperature range of.425-500 ℃ and strain rate range of.1x100^-2-1x10 s^-1 showed that a maximum elongation of.1500% was ac.ieved at 475 ℃ and a high strain rate of.1x100^-2-1x10 s^-1. The f.P AI-Mg-Sc.exhibited enhanc.d superplastic.def.rmation kinetic. c.mpared to that predic.ed by the c.nstitutive relationship f.r superplastic.ty in f.ne-grained aluminum alloys. The origin f.r enhanc.d superplas- tic.def.rmation kinetic. in the f.P alloy c.n be attributed to its high f.ac.ion of.high angle grain boundaries （HAGBs）. The analyses of.the superplastic.data and sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.py （SEM） examinations on the surf.c.s of.def.rmed spec.mens indic.ted that grain boundary sliding is the main superplastic.def.rmation mec.anism f.r the f.P AI-Mg-Sc.alloy.
