BACKGROUND Radicular cyst is a lesion of odontogenic origin that arises from epithelial remains due to periapical periodontitis caused by inflammatory reactions generated at the apex of affected teeth with infected or necrotic *** therapeutic mana gement of radicular cysts is *** is only one case report of enucleation of a radicular cyst managed with microsurgery and apicoectomy,but without the use of the guided tissue regeneration(GTR)technique in the same surgical *** present clinical case describes the management of a radicular cyst with microsurgical approach,performance of an apicoectomy of the tooth associated with the entity,application of GTR technique,use of a resorbable membrane of type I bovine collagen,and bovine *** sUMMARY A 68-year-old patient presented with a radicular cyst from an upper lateral *** microsurgical management used was aimed at enucleating the chemical membrane,performing apicoectomy of the tooth along with careful and precise retrograde filling,and implementing GTR technique using a resorbable collagen membrane and bovine *** diagnosis of radicular cyst was confirmed using histopathological *** patient underwent follow-up evaluations at 10 and 30 d *** 4 months postoperative evaluation,she remained asymptomatic,and radiographs showed significant periapical healing with adequate bone *** These results suggest that microsurgical management using the GTR technique with collagen membrane and xenograft,contributes to bone regeneration.

The global increase in the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and its complications presents significant challenges to public ***,periodontal disease(PD)was recognized as a factor that is likely to influence the progression of T2DM and its complications due to its potential to exacerbate systemic inflammation and oxidative *** this editorial,we comment on the article published by Thazhe Poyil et al in the very recent issue of the World Journal of Diabetes in 2024,which investigated the correlation between PD and diabetic retinopathy(DR)in T2DM patients,with emphasis on the association between periodontal swollen surface area,glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c),interleukin-6(IL-6),and lipoprotein(a).The findings by Thazhe Poyil et al are significant as they demonstrate a strong link between PD and DR in T2DM *** correlation highlights the importance of addressing periodontal health in diabetes management to potentially reduce the risk and severity of DR,a complication of *** integration of periodontal evaluation and treatment into diabetes care protocols may lead to improved glycemic control and better overall outcomes for T2DM patients.A few studies have established an interconnection between PD and diabetic complication,specifically DR,in T2DM patients,which we aim to highlight in this *** was placed on the different mechanisms that suggest a bidirectional relationship between PD and T2DM,where the presence of periodontal inflammation negatively influenced glycemic control and contributed to the development and progression of DR through shared inflammatory and vascular *** article highlights the importance of collaboration amongst diabetes specialists,ophthalmologists,periodontists,and public health professionals to advance the prevention,early detection,and treatment of PD and *** will improve the health and quality of life of T2DM ***,the editorial highlights the need for further re

Objective: Complementary and alternative medicine use and type of use may be influenced by sociodemographic and economic determinants through which we could identify characteristics of patients with greater trend to use it. This paper aims to describe the changes in the consumption of homeopathic and natural remedies in spain for three time points in order to discern changes in rate of consumption, associated factors and whether their use has been affected by a period of economic ***: This study utilized 2006, 2011 and 2017 cross-sectional data from the spanish National Health survey, a nationally representative survey of the population aged more than 15 years old and resident in spain. Independent bivariate and multivariate descriptive analyses for each of the 3 years studied were ***: The rate of consumption of both homeopathic and natural remedies has decreased over the periods studied. In spite of this decrease, the consumer profile appears to remain stable over the three periods. The sociodemographic factors associated with their consumption were being female, being 30–64 years old, being separated/divorced, having higher education qualifications, being employed and belonging to a higher social class. Psychiatric morbidity, chronic health problems such as pain, mental health problems or malignant tumors, and absence of major cardiovascular events were the clinical factors ***: It can be concluded that beyond the economic situation, the use of homeopathic and natural remedies obeys to the needs of the patients related to their state of health and the response they receive from the health system. It may be that women have different needs and expectations of the healthcare system and, given this breach of expectations, seek remedy to alleviate their needs outside the system and conventional medicine.

Phosphorus(P) limitation in the coming decades calls for the utilization of alternative fertilizers in agriculture. struvite is a promising P source, but its potential role as a fertilizer is dependent on different physical, chemical, and biological properties, which are very heterogeneous in soil, complicating the prediction of the best soil conditions for its application. Here, we evaluated the solubility of struvite in soil, its redistribution into P fractions, and its potential abiotic and biotic drivers in 62 globally distributed soils with contrasting properties through an incubation assay. We found that after 40 d, about 35% of struvite P was redistributed into soil fractions more accessible to plants and microbes. Phosphorus redistribution from struvite was driven by a complex suite of soil physical, chemical, and microbial properties as well as environmental factors that varied across soils. soil texture played a critical role in determining the redistribution of P in struvite-amended soils in soluble(H2O extraction), labile(NaHCO3 extraction), and moderately labile(NaOH extraction) *** addition, the soil solution cation concentration was one of the most important drivers of available struvite-derived P fractions. The great importance of texture and cations in determining struvite-derived P fractions in soil was contrasted with the relatively minor role of pH. At the microbial level, the number of bacterial operational taxonomic units(OTUs) from the unfertilized soils that correlated with struvite-derived P fractions was higher than that of fungi. The number of OTUs that correlated with the struvite-derived soluble P fraction was dominated by fungi, whereas the number of OTUs that correlated with the struvite-derived labile P fraction was dominated by bacteria. Overall, this study provided a predictive framework for the potential use of struvite as a P fertilizer in contrasting soils.

Hyperspectral images are multidimensional massive sets of information that have shown a great potential for different kind of applications as urban mapping,environmental management,vegetation and crops supervision and mineral ***,due to its high dimensional nature and the high variability of the spectral information,the dimensionality reduction process is one of the main challenges in processing hyperspectral *** aim of dimensionality reduction is to eliminate redundant information and simplify the subsequent processes of classification and the search of *** this context,several dimensionality reduction methods have been proposed,but most of them are not flexible enough to deal with the particular features of the hyperspectral *** this way,the use of intelligent methods as neural networks and specially an unsupervised approach as self-organized maps,may improve the dimensionality reduction stage and the final classification *** paper proposes an unsupervised method for the dimensionality reduction of hyperspectral images based on Kohonen self-organized maps,which,compared with other traditional methods such as principal component analysis(PCA)and wavelet decomposition,provides better classification *** results provided in this paper use an RBF(radial basis function)*** average,the proposed method provides a 64%dimensionality reduction and an 88.5%classification *** results suggest that the dimensionality reduction algorithm based on self-organized maps is an efficient approach compared with other popular *** is due to the ability of self-organized maps to automatically detect(self-organizing)relationships within the set of input patterns,which provides flexibility to deal with the special features of the hyperspectral images.

We aimed to evaluate ten-year outcomes of penile prosthesis(PP)implantation for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and to assess predictors of early prosthetic infection(EPI).We identified 549 men who underwent 576 PP placements between 2008 and *** and multivariate analyses were used to identify potential predictors of *** EPI predictive nomogram was ***-five(6.1%)cases of EPI were recorded with an explant rate of 3.1%.In terms of satisfaction,82.0%of the patients defined themselves as“satisfied,”while partner’s satisfaction was 88.3%.Diabetes(P=0.012),longer operative time(P=0.032),and reinterventions(P=0.048)were associated with EPI risk,while postoperative ciprofloxacin was inversely associated with EPI(P=0.014).Rifampin/gentamicin-coated 3-piece inflatable PP(r/g-c 3IPP)showed a higher EPI risk(P=0.019).Multivariate analyses showed a two-fold higher risk of EPI in diabetic patients,redo surgeries,or when a r/g-c 3IPP was used(all Pshowed that diabetes,longer operative time,and secondary surgeries were the risk factors for *** ciprofloxacin was associated with a reduced risk of EPI,while r/g-c 3IPP had higher EPI rates without an increased risk of PP *** further validation,the proposed nomogram could be a useful tool for the preoperative counseling of PP implantation.

To date,skin wounds are still an issue for healthcare *** numerous approaches have been developed over the years for skin regeneration,recent advances in regenerative medicine offer very promising strategies for the fabrication of artificial skin substitutes,including 3D bioprinting,electrospinning or spraying,among *** particular,skin sprays are an innovative technique still under clinical evaluation that show great potential for the delivery of cells and hydrogels to treat acute and chronic *** sprays present significant advantages compared to conventional treatments for wound healing,such as the facility of application,the possibility to treat large wound areas,or the homogeneous distribution of the sprayed *** this article,we review the latest advances in this technology,giving a detailed description of investigational and currently commercially available acellular and cellular skin spray products,used for a variety of diseases and applying different experimental ***,as skin sprays products are subjected to different classifications,we also explain the regulatory pathways for their commercialization and include the main clinical trials for different skin diseases and their treatment ***,we argue and suggest possible future trends for the biotechnology of skin sprays for a better use in clinical dermatology.
