This research concerns the estimation of latent linear or polychoric correlations from fuzzy frequency *** counts are of particular interest to many disciplines including social and behavioral sciences and are especially relevant when observed data are classified using fuzzy categories—as for socioeconomic studies,clinical evaluations,content analysis,inter-rater reliability analysis—orwhen imprecise observations are classified into either precise or imprecise categories—as for the analysis of ratings data or fuzzy-coded *** these cases,the space of count matrices is no longer defined over naturals and,consequently,the polychoric estimator cannot be used to accurately estimate latent linear *** aim of this contribution is ***,we illustrate a computational procedure based on generalized natural numbers for computing fuzzy ***,we reformulate the problem of estimating latent linear correlations from fuzzy counts in the context of expectation–maximization-based maximum likelihood estimation.A simulation study and two applications are used to investigate the characteristics of the proposed ***,the results show that the fuzzy EM-based polychoric estimator is more efficient to deal with imprecise count data as opposed to standard polychoric estimators that may be used in this context.

We study the scale-covariant theory of gravitation proposed by Canuto under the self-similar *** considering the matter collineation approach,we deduce the form of the main quantities and obtain some restrictions on the behavior of the gauge function,φ(t).We apply the obtained results to study the Bianchi I,Ⅶo,Ⅸ and Kantowsky Sachs models,and arrive at the conclusion that instead of considering a varying G theory,the solution is only valid for a particular value of the parameter of the equation of state,γ,.This leads us to obtain φ(t) =const,and by taking into account the external condition,Gφ2 =const,we may arrive at the conclusion that G=***,all the obtained solutions are the same as the ones obtained in the framework of general relativity.

Ephedroid macrofossils have been widely documented in Cretaceous deposits,including numerous from the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation of NE ***,few ephedroid macrofossils have been reported from South ***,we describe a new plant of the family Ephedraceae,Arlenea delicata *** ***.,from the Lower Cretaceous Crato Formation of the Araripe Basin,Northeast Brazil,based on the vegetative and reproductive *** has the typical morphological characteristics of ephedroid plants,including fertile reproductive branches,opposite phyllotaxy,terminal female cones,a sympodial branching system,longitudinally striated internodes,and swollen *** new finding is unusual in having inner chlamydosperms subtended by two pairs of bracts,reproductive units connected to branches through swollen receptacles and a smooth seed *** new ephedroid taxon from the Crato Formation increases our understanding of plant diversity of this group during the Early ***,the general morphology(fleshy bracts and enlarged receptacles)of this new fossil discovery indicates that seeds of this plant may have been dispersed by animals such as pterosaurs(mainly the Tapejaridae)and birds(Enantiornithes and Ornituromorpha).If true,this would explain the cosmopolitan distribution of Ephedraceae in the Lower Cretaceous.

Crowdsourced data can effectively observe environmental and urban ecosystem *** use of data produced by untrained people into flood forecasting models may effectively allow Early Warning Systems(EWS)to better perform while support decision-making to reduce the fatalities and economic losses due to inundation *** this work,we develop a Data Assimilation(DA)method integrating Volunteered Geographic Information(VGI)and a 2D hydraulic model and we test its *** proposed framework seeks to extend the capabilities and performances of standard DA works,based on the use of traditional in situ sensors,by assimilating VGI while managing and taking into account the uncertainties related to the quality,and the location and timing of the entire set of observational *** November 2012 flood in the Italian Tiber River basin was selected as the case *** show improvements of the model in terms of uncertainty with a significant persistence of the model updating after the integration of the VGI,even in the case of use of few-selected observations gathered from social *** will encourage further research in the use of VGI for EWS considering the exponential increase of quality and quantity of smartphone and social media user worldwide.

Simulation of Fluid Flow in a Channel Induced by Three Types of Fin-Like Motion

One of many interesting research activities in biofluidmechanics is dedicated to investigations of locomotion in water. Some of propulsion mechanisms observed in the underwater world are used in the development process of underwater autonomic vehicles （AUV）. In order to characterise several solutions according to their manoeuvrability, influence on the surrounding fluid and energetic efficiency, a detailed analysis of fin-like movement is indispensable. In the current paper an analysis of undulatory, oscillatory and combined fin-like movements by means of numerical simulation is carried out. The conservation equation of mass and the conservation equation of momentum axe solved with the Finite Volume Method （FWM） by use of the software CFX-10.0. The undulatory and oscillatory fin movements axe modelled with an equation that is implemented within an additional subroutine and joined with the main solver. N carried out in the computational domain, in which one fin is fixed in a flow-through water duct. Simulations axe carded out in the range of the Re number up to 105. The results show significant influence of applied fin motion on the velocity distribution in the surrounding fluid.

Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(alloHSCT)is a life-saving procedure used for the treatment of selected hematological malignancies,inborn errors of metabolism,and bone marrow *** role of neutrophils in alloHSCT has been traditionally evaluated only in the context of their ability to act as a first line of defense against ***,recent evidence has highlighted neutrophils as key effectors of innate and adaptive immune responses through a wide array of newly discovered ***,neutrophils are emerging as highly versatile cells that are able to acquire different,often opposite,functional capacities depending on the microenvironment and their differentiation ***,we review the current knowledge on the multiple functions that neutrophils exhibit through the different stages of alloHSCT,from the hematopoietic stem cell(HSC)mobilization in the donor to the immunological reconstitution that occurs in the recipient following HSC *** also discuss the influence exerted on neutrophils by the immunosuppressive drugs delivered in the course of alloHSCT as part of graft-versushost disease(GVHD)***,the potential involvement of neutrophils in alloHSCT-related complications,such as transplant-associated thrombotic microangiopathy(TA-TMA),acute and chronic GVHD,and cytomegalovirus(CMV)reactivation,is also *** on the data reviewed herein,the role played by neutrophils in alloHSCT is far greater than a simple antimicrobial ***,much remains to be investigated in terms of the potential functions that neutrophils might exert during a highly complex procedure such as alloHSCT.

Porous organic molecular materials(POMMs)are an emergent class of molecular-based materials characterized by the formation of extended porous frameworks,mainly held by non-covalent *** represent a variety of chemical families,such as hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks,porous organic salts,porous organic cages,C-H···πmicroporous crystals,supramolecular organic frameworks,π-organic frameworks,halogen-bonded organic framework,and intrinsically porous molecular *** some porous materials such as zeolites and metal organic frameworks,the integration of multiscale has been adopted to build materials with multifunctionality and optimized ***,considering the significant role of hierarchy in porous materials and the growing importance of POMMs in the realm of synthetic porous materials,we consider it appropriate to dedicate for the first time a critical review covering both ***,we will provide a summary of literature examples showcasing hierarchical POMMs,with a focus on their main synthetic approaches,applications,and the advantages brought forth by introducing hierarchy.
