Gene expression and physiological responses to salinity and water stress of contrasting durum wheat genotypes

Elucidating the relationships between gene expression and the physiological mechanisms remains a bottleneck in breeding for resistance to salinity and drought. This study related the expression of key target genes with the physiological performance of durum wheat under different combinations of salinity and irrigation. The candidate genes assayed included two encoding for the DREB（dehydration responsive element binding） transcription factors Ta DREB1 A and Ta DREB2 B, another two for the cytosolic and plastidic glutamine synthetase（Ta GS1 and Ta GS2）, and one for the specific na^＋/H^＋ vacuolar antiporter（Ta nHX1）. Expression of these genes was related to growth and different trait indicators of nitrogen metabolism（nitrogen content, stable nitrogen isotope composition, and glutamine synthetase and nitrate reductase activities）, photosynthetic carbon metabolism（stable carbon isotope composition and different gas exchange traits） and ion accumulation. Significant interaction between genotype and growing conditions occurred for growth, nitrogen content, and the expression of most *** general terms, higher expression of Ta GS1, Ta GS2,Ta DREB2 B, and to a lesser extent of Ta nHX1 were associated with a better genotypic performance in growth, nitrogen, and carbon photosynthetic metabolism under salinity and water stress. However, Ta DREB1 A was increased in expression under stress compared with control conditions, with tolerant genotypes exhibiting lower expression than susceptible ones.

A power system with a high wind power integration requires extra transmission capacity to accommodate the intermittency inherent to wind power *** can smooth out this intermittency and reduce transmission *** paper proposes a stochastic optimization model to coordinate the long-term planning of both transmission and storage facilities to efficiently integrate wind *** longterm and short-term uncertainties are considered in this ***-term uncertainty is described via scenarios,while shortterm uncertainty is described via operating ***’s 6-node system and a system representing northwest China in 2030 are used to illustrate the proposed *** indicate that storage reduces transmission requirement and the overall investment,and allows the efficient integration of wind power.

Chromitite bodies hosted in peridotites typical of suboceanic mantle(***)are found in the northern and central part of the Loma Caribe peridotite,in the Cordillera Central of the Dominican *** chromitites are massive pods of small size(less than a few meters across)and veins that intrude both dunite and ***,they are high-Cr chromitites[Cr#=Cr/(Cr+Al)atomic ratio=0.71-0.83]singularly enriched in TiO2(up to 1.25 wt.%),Fe2 O3(2.77-9.16 wt.%)as well as some trace elements(Ga,V,Co,Mn,and Zn)and PGE(up to 4548 ppb in whole-rock).This geochemical signature is unknown for chromitites hosted in oceanic upper mantle but akin to those chromites crystallized from mantle plume derived ***,the melt estimated to be in equilibrium with such chromite from the Loma Caribe chromitites is similar to basalts derived from different source regions of a heterogeneous Caribbean mantle *** mantle plume is responsible for the formation of the Caribbean Large Igneous Province(CLIP).Dolerite dykes with back-arc basin basalt(BABB)and enriched mid-ocean ridge basalt(E-MORB)affinities commonly intrude the Loma Caribe peridotite,and are interpreted as evidence of the impact that the Caribbean plume had in the off-axis magmatism of the back-arc basin,developed after the Caribbean island-arc extension in the Late *** propose a model in which chromitites were formed in the shallow portion of the back-arc mantle as a result of the metasomatic reaction between the supra-subduction zone(SSZ)peridotites and upwelling plume-related melts.

将用电磁方法悬浮起来的一对环构成领导者–跟随者系统实现对光滑参考轨线的跟踪要求.这一任务通过设计具有对扰动进行在线估计与补偿功能的自抗扰控制器(ADRC)实现.本文设计方法与传统ADRC的主要不同在于领导者和跟随者的跟踪控制器设计都是基于平坦输出的线性化近似系统.超出线性化近似有效区域的大的高度偏差所导致的未知非线性则被视为扰动,这个扰动借助于线性扩张观测器进行在线估计并通过线性反馈控制器进行消除.实验结果检验了本文所提方法的有效性.

In this report we present the generalization of a solution to Einstein's equations with perfect fluid for the case of Einstein–Maxwell with perfect *** effect of the charge is reflected by a parameter,ν,and its interval is determined by the positivity condition from the pressure in the interior of the *** is shown that the solution is stable according to the Zeldovich criteria as well as in relation to the criteria of the adiabatic *** compactness,u=GM/c^(2)R,of this charged model is greater than it is for the chargeless case as a result of the effect of the presence of the *** allows it to represent stars with a high compactness,in particular a graphic analysis is presented for the star SAX j1808.4-3658 with mass M=1.435M_(⊙)and radius R=7.07 *** these data and employing the solution,we obtain that the total maximum charge for the star is Q=2.4085×10^(20)C.

The tensile behaviour of near a Ti3Al2.5 V alloy,conceived for applications in aerospace and automotive engineering,is characterized from quasi-static to high strain *** material is found to present noticeable strain rate *** dynamic true strain rate in the necking cross-section reaches values up to ten times higher than the nominal strain *** is also observed that beyond necking the dynamic true stress-strain curves present limited rate *** experimental results at different strain rates are used to determine a suitable constitutive model for finite element simulations of the dynamic tensile *** model predicts the experimentally macroscopic force-time response,true stress-strain response and effective strain rate evolution with good agreement.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a highly prevalent disorder affecting an estimated 152 million men worldwide and isassociated with a variety of behavioral risk factors, such as cigarette smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, aswell as numerous age - related medical conditions, notably type-2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. A ratio-nal step - wise approach which includes comprehensive medical and sexual history, a focused physical examination andessential laboratory tests such as fasting glucose, lipid profile and testosterone assay is to be preferred. Current diagnos-tic work - up does not recommend any of the specialized tests which were previously considered mandatory-i. e. penilepharmacotesting, Duplex ultrasound and nocturnal penile tumescence. Hormonal replacement therapy is appropriate onlyin the hypogonadal male with ED. Prior to direct intervention, the physician should consider altering modifiable riskfactors or causes, although frequently insufficient to reverse ED completely. When indicated, oral therapy with newmolecules (phosphodiesterase inhibitors or apomorphine) is the first - line treatment for the majority of patients becauseof potential benefits and lack of invasiveness. In the last few years, there have been important new insights into the structural biology of G-protein coupled receptors. It is now known that allosteric binding sites are involved in the affinity and selec- tivity of ligands for G-protein coupled receptors, and that signaling by these receptors involves both G-protein dependent and independent pathways. The present review outlines the physiological and pharmacological implications of this perspective for the design of new drugs to treat disorders of the central nervous system. Specifically, new possibilities are explored in relation to allosteric and or- thosteric binding sites on dopamine receptors for the treatment of Parkinson＇s disease, and on muscarinic receptors for Alzheimer＇s disease. Future research can seek to identify ligands that can bind to more than one site on the same receptor, or simultaneously bind to two receptors and form a dimer. For example, the design of bivalent drugs that can reach homo/hetero-dimers of D2 dopa- mine receptor holds promise as a relevant therapeutic strategy for Parkinson＇s disease. Regarding the treatment of Alzheimer＇s disease, the design of dualsteric ligands for mono-oligomeric mus- carinic receptors could increase therapeutic effectiveness by generating potent compounds that could activate more than one signaling pathway.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze and compare the effects of different sports(swimming, football, basketball, and handball) on fat mass and lean mass in prepubertal and pubertal ***: Two hundred girls(10.6 ± 1.5 years old, Tanner stages I–III) participated in the study and were divided into 5 groups: 40 swimmers, 40 football players, 40 basketball players, 40 handball players, and 40 controls. Fat and lean masses at whole body, arms, trunk, and legs were measured using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry(DXA). Pubertal status was determined using Tanner test. Effects of different sports on fat and lean masses were assessed through analysis of covariance with height as covariates. Analyses were performed separately in 2 groups depending on the Tanner stage(prepubertal and pubertal).Results: The girls of the control group had less lean mass and more fat mass compared to the girls who play sports(p nces in body fat between sports. The swimmers and football players had less body fat(p n the other hand, handball players showed the highest values in lean mass(p nclusion: Impact sports(football, basketball, and handball) and low-impact sports(swimming) provide an appropriate development of lean mass in growing girls. We can conclude that people practicing sports at early ages ensure a lower fat mass and higher lean mass compared to those who do not practice. These results may be useful as a preventive method of adult obesity.
