The use of carbon from waste biomass has the potential to buffer the drawbacks of Li-S batteries and improve their overall performance. chrome-Tanned-LeatherShavings(cTLS) are undesirable wastes, highly available for transformation into porous carbon. microwave activation is an efficient state-of-the-art procedure to obtain unique porous structures and nitrogen incorporation can improve the performance of porous carbons. This study proposes the transformation of cTLS into a microwave activated porous carbon, and then was modified to introduce nitrogen. A microporous activated carbon with a specific surface area of 556 m2g-1 with honeycomb-like structure was obtained. Both urea thermal decomposition and ethanolamine impregnation improves the nitrogen and amine presence of surface groups. However,the results indicated that only urea treatment was effective in improving the initial capacity of the cell(1363 mAhg-1), which is probably linked with the sorption of long-chain polysulfides. This investigation confirms that it is possible to obtain carbon materials from cTLS, for use as sulfur-host cathodes in Li-S batteries, and improve their performance with urea thermal decomposition. Furthermore, a Radial basis function neural network was fitted to provide statistical support to the experimental results. The trained model corroborated the importance of nitrogen content of the carbons in the discharge capacity of the cells.

A thermodynamic analysis of methane oxidative reforming was carried out by Gibbs energy minimization （at constant pressure and temperature） and entropy maximization （at constant pressure and enthalpy） methods,to determine the equilibrium compositions and equilibrium temperatures,*** cases were treated as optimization problems （non-linear programming formulation）.The GAmS 23.1 software and the cONOPT2 solver were used in the resolution of the proposed *** hydrogen and syngas production were favored at high temperatures and low pressures,and thus the oxygen to methane molar ratio （O 2 /cH 4） was the dominant factor to control the composition of the product *** O 2 /cH 4 molar ratios higher than 0.5,the oxidative reforming of methane presented autothermal behavior in the case of either utilizing O 2 or air as oxidant agent,but oxidation reaction with air possessed the advantage of avoiding peak temperatures in the system,due to change in the heat capacity of the system caused by the addition of *** calculated results were compared with previously published experimental and simulated data with a good agreement between them.

To meet societal needs, modem estuarine science needs to be interdisciplinary and collaborative, combine discovery with hypotheses testing, and be responsive to issues facing both regional and global stakeholders. Such an approach is best conducted with the benefit of data-rich environments, where information from sensors and models is openly accessible within convenient timeframes. Here, we introduce the operational infrastruc- ture of one such data-rich environment, a collaboratory created to support （a） interdisciplinary research in the columbia River estuary by the multi-institutional team of investigators of the Science and Technology center for coastal margin Observation ＆ Prediction and （b） the integration of scientific knowledge into regional decision making. core components of the operational infrastructure are an observation network, a modeling system and a cyber-infrastructure, each of which is described. The observation network is anchored on an extensive array of long-term stations, many of them interdisciplinary, and is complemented by on-demand deployment of temporary stations and mobile platforms, often in coordinated field campaigns. The modeling system is based on finite- element unstructured-grid codes and includes operational and process-oriented simulations of circulation, sediments and ecosystem processes. The flow of information is managed through a dedicated cyber-infrastructure, con- versant with regional and national observing systems.

Let f : S(E) → S(B) be a surjective isometry between the unit spheres of two weakly compact JB*-triples not containing direct summands of rank less than or equal to 3. Suppose E has rank greater than or equal to 5. Applying techniques developed in JB*-triple theory, we prove that f admits an extension to a surjective real linear isometry T : E → B. Among the consequences, we show that every surjective isometry between the unit spheres of two compact c*-algebras A and B, without assuming any restriction on the rank of their direct summands(and in particular when A = K(H) and B = K(H′)), extends to a surjective real linear isometry from A into B. These results provide new examples of infinite-dimensional Banach spaces where Tingley's problem admits a positive answer.

AIm: To assess the patient-reported outcomes (PROs) of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (PNET) patients. mETHODS: Fifty-one consecutive patients (21 male, 30 female, 61.0 ± 10.3 years) with proven PNETs were studied. An SF-12 questionnaire capable of exploring the physical (PcS) and mental (mcS) aspects of daily life was used. Four questionnaires were also used [12 items General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) for non-psychotic psychiatric disorders, State Trait AnxietyInventory (STAI) Y-1 and Y-2 for anxiety and BDI-for depressive symptoms] to explore the psychological aspects of the disease. Forty-four sex-and age-matched Italian normative subjects were included and evaluated using the SF-12, STAI Y-1 and Y-2 ***: Seven patients refused to participate to the study; they were clinically similar to the 44 participants who agreed to complete the questionnaires. PNET patients had a PcS score (44.7 ± 11.0) were not signifi cantly different from the norms (46.1 ± 9.9, P = 0.610), whereas the mcS score was signifi cantly lower in patients (42.4 ± 13.0) as compared to the norms (48.2 ± 9.8, P = 0.036). GHQ-12 identified 11 patients (25.0%) as having non-psychotic psychiatric *** STAI scores were similar in the patients and inthe normative population. Finally, BDI-identifiedeight patients (18.2%) with moderate depression and 9 (20.5%) with mild depression whereas 27 patients (61.4%) had no ***: The PNET patients had a good physical but an impaired mental component of their quality of life; in addition, mild or moderate depressive symptoms are present in about 40% of PNET patients.

A rovibrational model,including anharmonic,centrifugal,and coriolis corrections,is used to calculate π,K,N,and ∑ orbital and radial *** four orbital excitations of the n meson correspond to the/?(1235),ti2(1670),63(2030),and π4(2250)*** first four radial excitations correspond to the π(1300),π(1800),π(2070),and 7t(2360)*** orbital excitations of the K meson are interpreted as the K_(1)(1270),K_(2)(1770),K_(3)(2320),and K_(4)(2500)resonances;its radial excitations correspond to the K(1460)and K(1830)*** N orbital excitations are identified with the N(1520),N(1680),N(2190),N(2220),and N(2600)*** first four radial excitations of the N family correspond to the N(1440),N(1880),N(2100),and N(2300)*** orbital excitations of the ∑ baryon are associated with the ∑(1670),∑(1915),∑(2100),and ∑(2250)resonances,whereas its radial excitations are identified with the ∑(1660),∑(1770),and ∑(1880)*** proposed rovibrational model calculations show a good agreement with the corresponding experimental values and allow for the prediction of hadron resonances,thereby proving to be useful for the interpretation of excited hadron spectra.

This paper investigates the performance and the results of an evolutionary algorithm （EA） specifically designed for evolving the decision engine of a program （which, in this context, is called bot） that plays Planet Wars. This game, which was chosen for the Google Artificial Intelligence challenge in 2010, requires the bot to deal with multiple target planets, while achieving a certain degree of adaptability in order to defeat different opponents in different scenarios. The decision engine of the bot is initially based on a set of rules that have been defined after an empirical study, and a genetic algorithm （GA） is used for tuning the set of constants, weights and probabilities that those rules include, and therefore, the general behaviour of the bot. Then, the bot is supplied with the evolved decision engine and the results obtained when competing with other bots （a bot offered by Google as a sparring partner, and a scripted bot with a pre-established behaviour） are thoroughly analysed. The evaluation of the candidate solutions is based on the result of non-deterministic battles （and environmental interactions） against other bots, whose outcome depends on random draws as well as on the opponents＇ actions. Therefore, the proposed GA is dealing with a noisy fitness function. After analysing the effects of the noisy fitness, we conclude that tackling randomness via repeated combats and reevaluations reduces this effect and makes the GA a highly valuable approach for solving this problem.

Testicular volume(TV)is proposed to be a positive predictor of male fertility status,because of the relation known between the TV and the seminiferous tubule *** of the measurement methodology,the role of TV and testicular ultrasound(US)assessments is still debated in andrological clinical *** this retrospective cohort study,we evaluated TV and testis US role in the diagnostic workup of andrological *** consecutive outpatients undergoing single-operator testis US(modena,Italy)from march 2012 to march 2018 were enrolled,matching sonographic,hormonal,and seminal data.A total of 302 men were referred and evaluated for gynecomastia,suspected hypogonadism,couple infertility(cl),or sexual *** the hypogonadal group,TV was lower compared to that in other groups(Pcant,direct correlation between TV and testosterone level was observed in nonandrogen-treated patients(R=0.911,Pcular size could be related to the testosterone-secreting *** the cl group,normozoospermic patients showed higher TV compared to men with impaired semen quality(P=0.003)and azoospermia(P=0.003).However,TV was not able to discriminate between patients presenting normal and altered semen *** the contrary,testis US inhomogeneity was more frequent in patients with impaired sperm quality(55.0%;P=0.007)and azoospermia(40.0%;P=0.012),compared to patients with normozoospermia(5%),identifying thereby the sonographic pattern as an informative parameter of the fertility ***,in the cl workup,US evaluation seems to be more informative than the TV assessment alone.
