determination of estrogenic activity in the river Chienti(Marche Region, Italy) by using in vivo and in vitro bioassays

Environmental estrogen-like compounds（i.e. xenoestrogens） are a variety of pollutants,ranging from synthetic to natural occurring molecules, that are found in surface and waste waters over a wide range of concentrations. In aquatic environment, the overall estrogenic activity is often due to the presence of a mixture of chemicals and their degraded products which can induce synergistic effects. Current strategies for monitoring estrogen-like chemicals are based on the use of a battery of in vivo and in vitro ecotoxicological tests. In this regard, the aim of the present work was to carry out a bio-monitoring study for testing estrogenicity of the Chienti river（Marche Region, Italy） by using both an E-screen and a vitellogenin（Vtg） induction assay in juvenile goldfish. Three sites were used for analysis,localized at the mouth（sampling point 1）, in the middle（sampling point 2） and at the origin（sampling point 3） of Chienti river. For most of the water samples（i.e. samples collected at sampling points 2 and 3）, clear estrogenic activity was detected in the E-screen assay suggesting different proliferation activities in function of the collecting site. In contrast, the Vtg ELISA demonstrated that water samples collected from each sampling point were estrogenic. Overall, we showed for the first time that the estrogenic activities in water samples from the Chienti river were significant in both in vivo and in vitro; we also observed a different sensitivity between bioassays.

COVId-19 pandemic:An update on the reaction attitude of the spine societies and their members worldwide

BACKGROUNd All surgical specialties have been influenced by the coronavirus disease 2019(COVId-19)pandemic,and substantial changes have been determined in medical assistance,especially in elective *** spine societies have published recommendations to provide optimal care during this unique *** To discuss the recommendations by many spine societies for the management of spinal diseases during the COVId-19 *** The present study was performed according to the PRISMA guidelines.A review of the MEdLINE database(PubMed–National Library of Medicine),Google,and Google Scholar was performed from March 2020 to date for articles published in the English *** Spine associations and societies worldwide were divided into three groups:Continental,specialty and country-based societies.A total of 27 spine associations were included in this *** were eight major continental associations,but only one-third of these had published guidelines and recommendations on this *** the other hand,the specialty-based societies have not addressed the topic,except in two *** The national spine societies showed the deepest concern on this topic with several publications in scientific journals influenced by the local epidemiological ***,continental and specialty-based societies showed less interest in this topic.

Quantum ekpyrotic mechanism in Fermi-bounce curvaton cosmology

Within the context of the Fermi-bounce curvaton mechanism,we analyze the one-loop radiative corrections to the four-fermion interaction,generated by the non-dynamical torsion field in the Einstein-Cartan-Holst-Sciama-Kibble *** show that contributions that arise from the one-loop radiative corrections modify the energy-momentum tensor,mimicking an effective Ekpyrotic fluid ***,we call this effect quantum Ekpyrotic *** leads to the dynamical washing out of anisotropic contributions to the energy-momentum tensor,without introducing any new extra Ekpyrotic *** discuss the stability of the bouncing mechanism and derive the renormalization group flow of the dimensional coupling constantξ,checking whether any change of its sign takes place towards the *** enforces the theoretical motivations in favor of the torsion curvaton bounce cosmology as an alternative candidate to the inflation paradigm.

Limiting majoron self-interactions from gravitational wave experiments

We show how majoron models may be tested/limited in gravitational wave experiments. In particular,the majoron self-interaction potential may induce a first order phase transition, producing gravitational waves from bubble collisions. We dub such a new scenario the violent majoron model, because it would be associated with a violent phase transition in the early Universe. Sphaleron constraints can be avoided if the global U（1）_（B-L） is broken at scales lower than the electroweak scale, provided that the B-L spontaneously breaking scale is lower than10 TeV in order to satisfy the cosmological mass density bound. The possibility of a sub-electroweak phase transition is practically unconstrained by cosmological bounds and it may be detected within the sensitivity of the next generation of gravitational wave experiments： eLISA, dECIGO and BBO. We also comment on its possible detection in the next generation of electron-positron colliders, where majoron production can be observed from the Higgs portals in missing transverse energy channels.

A new duality between topological M-theory and loop quantum gravity

Gravitational waves from dark first order phase transitions and dark photons

Cold dark Matter particles may interact with ordinary particles through a dark photon, which acquires a mass thanks to a spontaneous symmetry breaking mechanism. We discuss a dark photon model in which the scalar singlet associated to the spontaneous symmetry breaking has an effective potential that induces a first order phase transition in the early Universe. Such a scenario provides a rich phenomenology for electron-positron colliders and gravitational waves interferometers, and may be tested in several different channels. The hidden first order phase transition implies the emission of gravitational waves signals, which may constrain the dark photon＇s space of parameters. Compared limits from electron-positron colliders, astrophysics, cosmology and future gravitational waves interferometers such as eLISA, U-dECIGO and BBO are discussed. This highly motivates a cross-checking strategy of data arising from experiments dedicated to gravitational waves, meson factories, the International Linear Collider（ILC）, the Circular Electron Positron Collider（CEPC） and other underground direct detection experiments of cold dark matter candidates.

Relationships between lymphomas linked to hepatitis C virus infection and their microenvironment

The relationships between lymphomas and their microenvironment appear to follow 3 major patterns:(1)an independent pattern;(2)a dependent pattern on deregulated interactions;and(3)a dependent pattern on regulated *** examples of the third pattern are hepatitis C virus(HCV)-associated marginal zone lymphomas(MZLs)and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue *** these lymphomas,a regulated coexistence of the malignant cells and the microenvironmental factors usually *** least initially,however,tumor development and cell growth largely depend on external signals from the microenvironment,such as viral antigens,cytokines,and cell-cell *** association between HCV infection and B-cell lymphomas is not completely defined,although this association has been demonstrated by epidemiological *** and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma are the histotypes most frequently associated with HCV *** mechanisms have been proposed for explaining HCV-induced lymphomagenesis;antigenic stimulation by HCV seems to be fundamental in establishing B-cell expansion as observed in mixed cryoglobulinemia and in B-cell ***,antiviral treatment has been proved to be effective in the treatment of HCV-associated indolent ***,clinically responses were linked to the eradication of the HCV-RNA,providing a strong argument in favor of a causative link between HCV and lymphoproliferation.

dynamical interactions of dark energy and dark matter:Yang-Mills condensate and QCd axions

We analyze a model of cold axion dark matter weakly coupled with a dark gluon condensate, reproducing dark energy. We first review how to recover the dark energy behavior using the functional renormalization group approach, and ground our study in the properties of the effective Lagrangian, to be determined non-perturbatively. Then, within the context of GSM×SU（2）d×U（1）PQ, we consider Yang-Mills condensate （YMC） interactions with QCd axions. We predict a transfer of dark energy density into dark matter density, that can be tested in the next generation of experiments dedicated to dark energy measurements. We obtain new bounds on the interactions between the Yang-Mills condensate and axion dark matter from Planck data：the new physics interaction scale related to the axion/gluon condensate mixing is constrained to be higher than the 106 GeV energy scale.

Time-crystal ground state and production of gravitational waves from QCd phase transition

We propose a novel mechanism for the production of gravitational waves in the early Universe that originates from the relaxation processes induced by the QCd phase transition. While the energy density of the quark-gluon mean-field is monotonously decaying in real time, its pressure undergoes a series of violent oscillations at the characteristic QCd time scales that generate a primordial multi-peaked gravitational waves signal in the radio frequencies’ domain. The signal is an echo of the QCd phase transition that is accessible by planned measurements at the FAST and SKA telescopes.
