China’s dramatic economic rise has tended to overshadow other wider perspectives on the developing China and Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN)relationship,including in higher *** article examines contemporary relations between China and ASEAN,set against the longer term development of cultural and trade *** is argued that,notwithstanding current territorial disputes,and a history of discrimination against ethnic Chinese in several parts of ASEAN,prospects for a deepening of relations in higher education remain ***,Malaysia,and Vietnam are selected as three instances of the developing relationship in higher education and some of the links traced,with the former assessed as best placed to take advantage of its China relations in higher *** developing sense of regionalism is seen as likely to further enhance China-ASEAN relations in higher education.

This paper highlights how returnees and knowledge diaspora are important sources for China’s human resources development,identifying push and pull factors that also contribute significantly to innovation in the higher education *** outlining China’s key projects and schemes for recruiting international professional workers,the paper argues that bringing advanced knowledge and skills back to a country of origin through international education and experiences is neither new,nor limited to *** the same time,the rise of a large,worldwide Chinese knowledge diaspora is now of global importance in promoting transnational scientific and business networks that underpin both research and development,and the quest for world-class ***’s size and weight,its determination to boost development and improve its higher education system,as well as the willingness of both diaspora and returnees to contribute,constitute its ***,there remain limitations to its success,notably a lack of high-quality research,reservations regarding new ideas,low awareness of international collaborations,too much attention given to material rewards and quick results,corruption,and too many administrative controls and government regulations.

Along with China’s economic growth,the notable rise of its universities and innovation system has inspired growing interest in how the higher education institutions(HEIs)of the European Union(EU)cooperate with Chinese *** with a review of China-EU higher education relations,this paper presents a case study of a Sino-Danish collaborative programme in which cooperation and programme quality were limited by both partners’different aims over time,and their alternate quality assurance *** suggest a proper collaborative level and discipline should be developed before the establishment of cooperation by taking relevant policies,merits and disadvantages of both partners,into *** paper also points out that limits in collaboration can be alleviated,if a number of elements can be used effectively,such as China’s significant EU knowledge *** this and other listed factors,including favorable policies introduced by the Chinese government,there are substantial prospects for extending China-EU collaborative relations and exchanges.

在澳大利亚的中国留学研究生群体日益庞大,这一群体在国内经历了迥异于澳大利亚的本科教育,因此,研究其在澳大利亚的学术与文化适应状况将具有一定的实践价值。采用叙事研究的路径,能够对他们的适应经历进行"深描"式探究。具体地,经由便利和滚雪球抽样,来自澳大利亚四所大学的12名中国留学研究生被选为受访者,接受了半结构式深度访谈,并参与了最后研究语料文本的确定。寻找关键事件、编码,最终建构扎根理论等工作得到了如下发现:其一,中国留学研究生在学术适应上遭遇到了挑战,这与中澳两国大学教育运行体制的差异、中国学生传统学习模式和语言能力有限有关。其二,中国留学研究生在澳大利亚习惯于"圈子"式生存,影响了其学术与文化适应。这一现象的形成与中澳文化差异大以及中华文化的保守性等有关。中华文化更强调个体的勤奋努力,任劳任怨;澳大利亚文化强调个体"三观"的自由以及生活与工作的平衡,生活相对闲散。其三,中国留学研究生在身份认同上强调他们文化的"根"在中国,归属感、文化差异以及澳大利亚相对原生态的生活环境等都会影响他们毕业后去留的决定。

In an era when the knowledge economy is increasingly global in form,China is competing vigorously to strengthen its innovation system,of which its universities are a key *** China has a number of strategic advantages—of which the huge resource represented by its own highly-skilled diaspora is a key ***,the Chinese diaspora is estimated to be not less than thirty-five million(some say as large as fifty million),increasing numbers of whom are now *** the potential of this resource,and in an era of skills shortages in key arenas,countries of migration,(mostly English-language) such as Canada,Australia and the USA have targetted their migration schemes at such high-skill individuals,many of whom are mainland Chinese(Hugo 2006,welch,2007).More and more mainland Chinese intellectuals now work at universities abroad,often after having first taken their *** in such countries (welch and Zhang,2005,2007,2008).

Membrane desalination is an economical and energy-efficient method to meet the current worldwide water ***,state-of-the-art reverse osmosis membranes are gradually being replaced by novel membrane materials as a result of ongoing technological *** novel materials possess intrinsic pore structures or can be assembled to form lamellar membrane channels for selective transport of water or solutes(e.g.,NaCl).Still,in real applications,the results fall below the theoretical predictions,and a few properties,including large-scale fabrication,mechanical strength,and chemical stability,also have an impact on the overall effectiveness of those *** view of this,we develop a new evaluation framework in the form of radar charts with five dimensions(i.e.,water permeance,water/NaCl selectivity,membrane cost,scale of development,and stability)to assess the advantages,disadvantages,and potential of state-of-the-art and newly developed desalination *** this framework,the reported thin film nanocomposite membranes and membranes developed from novel materials were compared with the state-of-the-art thin film composite *** review will demonstrate the current advancements in novel membrane materials and bridge the gap between different desalination *** this review,we also point out the prospects and challenges of next-generation membranes for desalination *** believe that this comprehensive framework may be used as a future reference for designing next-generation desalination membranes and will encourage further research and development in the field of membrane technology,leading to new insights and advancements.

This paper attempts to form a bridge between a sum of the divisors function and the gamma function, proposing a novel approach that could have significant implications for classical problems in number theory, specifically the Robin inequality and the Riemann hypothesis. The exploration of using invariant properties of these functions to derive insights into twin primes and sequential primes is a potentially innovative concept that deserves careful consideration by the mathematical community.
