A metal-free photocatalytic hydrogen evolution system was successfully fabricated using heteroatom doped graphene materials as electron-transfer co-catalysts and carbon nitride as a semiconductor. The catalytic role of graphene is significantly dependent on the heteroatom dopant of the graphene, such as O, s, B, N doped/undoped graphene co-catalysts, and N-graphene shows the best catalytic hydrogen evolution rate.

Introduction:Construction activities in and along urban streams increase the sediment input into surface waters,causing an overall decline in water quality and aquatic *** this case study,we investigate the water quality impacts of local hydromodification in an urban stream(discharge 0.4 m^(3)/s).At the site of interest,workers removed a stream crossing consisting of an embankment with culverts and replaced it with a small bridge(single span of 25 m)in an effort to improve flow ***:Water samples were taken at four sites along the North Branch Park River in Connecticut,Northeastern United *** and dissolved oxygen(DO)were measured in situ,and nitrate and total phosphorus(TP)were measured in the *** macroinvertebrate samples were also collected and analyzed for taxon richness and shannon-Weaver species *** were compared between upstream and downstream sites and before,during,and after *** used one-way ANOVA combined with the post hoc Turkey test to derive statistical ***:During construction,turbidity increased temporarily by 60.9%[from 2.48 Nephelometric Turbidity Units(NTU)over ambient to 4.00 NTU].Once construction was completed,DO increased locally from 11.0 to 13.0 mg/*** macroinvertebrate taxon richness and species diversity declined by 61.6 and 32.6%respectively,with no recovery observed in the year following *** quality was only affected within 50 m *** and TP concentrations were ***:small-scale hydromodification temporarily increased the turbidity as a result of increased sediment input,approaching the maximum level for clean water(5 NTU).Benthic macroinvertebrate communities declined in the immediate downstream vicinity of construction but are expected to recover soon given that turbidity recovered to pre-construction levels,and DO *** outcomes emphasize that environmental assessment is important not

The development of engine waste heat recov- ery technologies attracts ever increasing interests due to the rising strict policy requirements and environmental con- cerns. This paper presented the study of engine coolant and exhaust heat recovery using organic Rankine cycle （ORC）. Eight working fluids were selected to evaluate and compare the performance of the integrated waste heat recovery system. Rather than the conventional engine ORC system mainly focusing on the utilization of exhaust energy, this work proposed to fully use the engine coolant energy by changing the designed parameters of the ORC system. The case study selected a small engine as the heat source to drive the ORC system using a scroll expander for power production. The evaluation results suggest that under the engine rated condition, the solution to fully recover the engine coolant energy can achieve a higher power generation performance than that of the conven- tional engine ORC system. The results suggest that adding a recuperator to the ORC system can potentially improve the system performance when the working fluids are dry and the overall dumped heat demand of the system can be reduced by 12% under optimal conditions. When the ORC evaporating and condensing temperature are respectivelyset at 85℃ and 30℃, the integrated engine waste heat recovery system can improve the overall system efficiency by 9.3% with R600, R600a or n-Pentane as the working fluid.

The demand for revision total hip arthroplasty(THA)is *** quality on the internet has been extensively analysed in relation to primary THA but no such analysis has ever been performed for revision *** aim was to assess the quality and readability of this *** major internet search engines were searched for information on revision *** websites were assessed for quality of information using the DIsCERN score,the Journal of the American Medical Association benchmark criteria and a novel scoring system specific to revision THA[Vancouver Revision Arthroplasty Information(VRAI)score].Website readability was assessed,as was presence of the Health On the Net Foundation(HON)*** majority of websites(52%)were academic with a post-graduate reading *** 6.5%of websites had the HON *** percent of websites had a‘good’DIsCERN score and only 28%had a‘good’score with the novel VRAI scoring *** information websites had significantly higher rates of‘good’VRAI scores(P=0.008).Websites with the HON seal had significantly higher DIsCERN scores(P=0.01).All governmental websites were at a reading level suitable for patient *** on the internet relating to revision THA is of low quality,much lower than the quality of information on primary *** recommend governmental websites for their readability and health information websites for their quality of information specific to revision *** with the HON seal provide higher quality information and should be recommended to patients as reading material regarding revision THA.

Background:Avian migrants moving between common breeding and wintering areas may adopt different migration routes,and consequently affect ***,this pattern has rarely been investigated,especially in ***,autumn migration patterns of the Common shelduck(Tadorna tadorna) have never been ***:We used GPs transmitters to track,for the first time,the autumn migration of the Common shelduck in East Asia(n = 14).Results:The Common shelduck undertook a broadly northwest–southeast autumn migration,taking a mean of 91.7 ± 38.7(sD) days to cover a mean distance of 1712.9 ± 450.5 km at a speed of 89.4 ± 226.5 km/*** birds used 2.5 ± 1.8 stopover sites,and the total stopover duration was 81.9 ± 38.7 *** were considerable betweenindividual variations in the onset(24 August to 28 september) and completion(29 september to 11 January) of migration,distance(1070.2–2396.4 km),speed(14.7-734.0 km/day),the index of straightness(0.6-1.0),duration(1.5-151.8 days),stopover times(0-5) and total stopover durations(0-148.1).More direct migration routes were associated with fewer and shorter stopovers(p = 0.003 in both cases).Post-breeding and wintering site habitat use was similar between individuals,whereas stopover site habitat use varied considerably within and between ***:Our study showed remarkable variability in shelduck migration patterns,which was likely associated with refuelling patterns en *** understand fully the migration diversity and flexibility of habitat-use,we need to track more birds to increase representativeness,using accelerometer-integrated transmitters to investigate behaviours in different habitats.

We have created an inchworm robot capable of the two-anchor crawl gait on level ground and inclined plane. The main novelty is in the design of the inchworm：（1） three-part body that is 3D printed and actuated by two servo motors to allow a looping and lengthening action, （2） passive friction pads to anchor the feet, each of which may be disengaged using a servo motor actuated lever arm, and （3） modular body and electronics. The robot is about 2 feet （61 cm） in length, has a mass of about 4 kg, and uses an open-loop controller to achieve steady crawling gait. The inchworm robot achieved a speed of 2.54 *** on level ground as well as on an incline plane of 19~. The energy usage as measured by the Mechanical Cost of Transport （a non-dimensional number defined as the energy used per unit weight per unit distance moved） is 3.34. Our results indicate that simple robotic designs that copy the basic features of natural organisms provide a promising alternative over conventional wheeled robots.

Variable retention harvesting(VRH)systems have gained wide use in many different forest types across the globe,but largely have been implemented in forests characterized by severe,infrequent disturbance *** has been less attention given to developing VRH approaches in forests that are characterized as having a mixed-severity disturbance regime that often results in only partial mortality of canopy trees in spatially heterogeneous *** example of such a forest type is red pine(Pinus resinosa Ait.)-dominated ecosystem of the western Great Lakes region of North *** purpose of this review is to provide a conceptual foundation for developing VRH approaches in red pine ecosystems that are based on a mixed-severity disturbance *** contention is that red pine forests managed following a natural model are more resilient to disturbances and external threats such as climate *** the red pine ecosystem,VRH application should reflect the often severe,but partial canopy removal from natural disturbance that is characteristic of this ecosystem and that results in more than trivial numbers of surviving overstory trees across a range of spatial configurations in regenerating *** live trees should span a range of diameters,but favor the larger end of the diameter distribution,as this reflects the likely pattern of survival after natural disturbance and is often a key structural element lacking from managed *** should be applied in ways that vary the spatial pattern of legacy trees in and among stands,but largely in ways that reflect the pattern of spatially patchy canopy structure,with large openings surrounded by a less disturbed matrix,as occurs with a natural disturbance *** trees and deadwood structures should reflect the composition of the pre-disturbance forest,including species in addition to dominant red ***,retained structures should be viewed as dynamic entities that grow,die,and decay and that need
