Freestanding hierarchical porous carbon film derived from hybrid nanocellulose for high-power supercapacitors

Nanocellulose is a sustainable and eco-friendly nanomaterial derived from renewable biomass. In this study, we utilized the structural advantages of two types of nanocellulose and fabricated freestanding carbonized hybrid nanocellulose films as electrode materials for supercapacitors. The long cellulose nanofibrils （CNFs） formed a macroporous framework, and the short cellulose nanocrystals were assembled around the CNF framework and generated micro/mesopores. This two-level hierarchical porous structure was successfully preserved during carbonization because of a thin atomic layer deposited （ALD） A1203 conformal coating, which effectively prevented the aggregation of nanocellulose. These carbonized, partially graphitized nanocellulose fibers were interconnected, forming an integrated and highly conductive network with a large specific surface area of 1,244 m2·g-1. The two-level hierarchical porous structure facilitated fast ion transport in the film. When tested as an electrode material with a high mass loading of 4 mg·cm-2 for supercapacitors, the hierarchical porous carbon film derived from hybrid nanocellulose exhibited a specific capacitance of 170 F·g-1 and extraordinary performance at high current densities. Even at a very high current of 50 A-g-l, it retained 65% of its original specific capacitance, which makes it a promising electrode material for high-power applications.

The analysis of organochlorine pesticides(oCPs)in ecosystem components has been a major niche area among environmental scientists,probably due to their endocrine-disruptive ***,we evaluated the global research productivity of oCPs research from 1992 to 2018 using various bibliometric indices.A total of 2326 articles that focused on oCPs research in biological and environmental matrices were retrieved from the Web of Science(WoS).A steady progression on oCPs article production was noticed during the survey period with regression and Lokta distribution models suggesting that more research outputs on this pollutant class is imminent in years to *** People's Republic of China and the United States were respectively ranked first and second in both‘most productive countries’and‘countries with the highest number of citations.’Not surprisingly,these two countries also had the most collaborative network with not less than ten collaboration linkages with other *** study shows the high involvement of oCPs research from scientists domiciled in developed ***,international collaboration should be encouraged particularly between developed and developing *** this end,more research programs should be established to monitor oCPs in regions where they have been used in the past especially in *** bibliometric survey will assist policymakers and researchers in designing future research and allocating funds involving oCPs research.

Host-guest complexes of cucubit[8]uril with phenanthrolines and some methyl derivatives

The host-guest relationship between cucurbit[8]uril,phenanthrolines and some methyl substituted 1,10-phenanthrolines has been investigated by using 1H NMR spectroscopy and fluorescence *** results showed that phenanthrolines as molecular guests bind in the cavity and portal of cucurbit[8]uril in a ratio of 2:1 (guest to host).The phenanthroline isomers 1,10-,1,7-and 4,7-showed red shifts between 47 and 108 nm and pronounced in-creases in fluorescent *** same isomers produced inclusion complexes with cucur-bit[8]uril which had moderate to fast exchange rates on the 1H NMR time *** methyl substituted 1,10-phenanthrolines studied gave stable inclusion complexes in a ratio of 2:1 which showed slow exchange *** guests formed p-p stacked pairs which were cavity bound but also partly protruded from only one portal forming unsymmetrical host-guest *** addition,these p-p stacked pairs formed orientation isomers within the confines of the cucur-bit[8]uril cavity.

Multi-agent systems for simulating spatial decision behaviors and land-use dynamics

A new method to simulate urban land-use dynamics is proposed based on multi-agent systems (MAS). The model consists of a series of environmental layers and multi-agent layers, which can interact with each other. It attempts to explore the interactions between different players or agents, such as residents, property developers, and governments, and between these players and the envi- ronment. These interactions can give rise to urban macro-spatial patterns. This model is used to simulate the land-use dynamics of the Haizhu district of Guangzhou City in 1995―2004. Cellular automata (CA) were also used for the simulation of land use changes as a comparison. The study indicates that MAS has better performance for simulating complex cities than CA.

Knowledge discovery for geographical cellular automata

This paper proposes a new method for geographical simulation by applying data mining techniques to cellular automata. CA has strong capabilities in simulating complex systems. The core of CA is how to define transition rules. There are no good methods for defining these transition rules. They are usually defined by using heuristic methods and thus subject to uncer-tainties. Mathematical equations are used to represent transition rules implicitly and have limita-tions in capturing complex relationships. This paper demonstrates that the explicit transition rules of CA can be automatically reconstructed through the rule induction procedure of data mining. The proposed method can reduce the influences of individual knowledge and preferences in de-fining transition rules and generate more reliable simulation results. It can efficiently discover knowledge from a vast volume of spatial data.

Discovery of transition rules for geographical cellular automata by using ant colony optimization

A new intelligent algorithm of geographical cellular automata (CA) based on ant colony optimization (ACo) is proposed in this paper. CA is capable of simulating the evolution of complex geographical phenomena, and the core of CA models is how to define transition rules. However, most of the transition rules are defined by mathematical equations, and are hence not explicit. When the study area is complicated, it is much more difficult to extract parameters for geographical CA. As a result, ACo is applied to geographical CA to automatically and intelligently obtain transition rules in this paper. The transition rules extracted by ACo are defined as logical expressions rather than implicit mathematical equations to describe the complex relationships of the nature, and easy for people to understand. The ACo-CA model was applied to simulating rural-urban land conversions in Guangzhou City, China, and appropriate simulation results were generated. Compared with See5.0 decision tree model, ACo-CA is more suitable to discovering transition rules for geographical CA.

Coronatine Alleviates Water Deficiency Stress on Winter Wheat Seedlings

With the aim to determine whether coronatine （CoR） alleviates drought stress on wheat, two winter wheat （Triticum aestivum L.） cultivars, ChangWu134 （drought-tolerant） and Shan253 （drought-sensitive） were studied under hydroponic conditions. Seedlings at the three-leaf stage were eultured in a Hoagland solution containing CoR at 0.1 ~M for 24 h, and then exposed to 20% polyethylene glycol 6000 （PEG- 6000）. Under simulated drought （SD）, CoR increased the dry weight of shoots and roots of the two cultivars significantly; the root/shoot ratio also increased by 30% for Shan253 and 40% for ChangWu134. Both cultivars treated with CoR under SD （0.1CoR-I-PEG） maintained significantly higher relative water content, photosynthesis, transpiration, intercellular concentration of Co2 and stomatal conductance in leaves than those not treated with PEG. Under drought, CoR significantly decreased the relative conductivity and malondialdehyde production, and the loss of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl scavenging activity in leaves was significantly alleviated in CoR-treated plants. The activity of peroxidase, catalase, glutathione reductase and ascorbate peroxidase were adversely affected by drought. Leaves of plants treated with CoR under drought produced less abscisic acid （ABA） than those not treated. Thus, CoR might alleviate drought effects on wheat by reducing active oxygen species production, activating antioxidant enzymes and changing the ABA level.

Investigations on longwall mining subsidence impacts on Pennsylvania highway alignments

over 600 longwall panels have been mined in Pennsylvania in the last 50 years. of those 600 panels, 25 panels undermined interstates highways. Despite this quantity of panels, much is still unknown regarded the detailed effects of undermining highways. The Gateway Mine, the Emerald Mine, and the Cumberland Mine undermined I-79 with 17 panels in 1982–1989 and in 2003–2008, respectively;Mine 84 undermined I-70 with 4 panels in 1987–2000. Through the examination of the panels that undermined I-70 and I-79, it is possible to determine which factors have most impacted the highway alignments. In some locations, the highway intersects with panels at angles ranging from 45° to 80°;and at the others, it runs between two panels, which simulates the effect of gateroads on the subsidence. The panel width to overburden ratio varies between 0.64 and 1.7, meaning that the interstates were influenced by both subcritical and supercritical subsidence basins. The face advance rates and overburden depths also vary between the panels. Unfortunately, specific information detailing highway impacts associated with unique characteristics of the subsidence basins are limited. In this paper, using the profile function model and influence function model within the surface deformation prediction system(SDPS), the effects of overburden,panel size, and orientation of the road on the highway can be indirectly assessed.
