Longitudinal Analysis of inter-Limb Coordination Before and After Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury: The JUMP-ACL Study

Purpose inter-limb coordination may provide insight into why patients with anterior cruciate ligament reconstructive sur-gery(ACLR)have an increased risk for future injury and *** purpose of this study was to compare inter-limb coordination prior-to anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)injury and following *** Unilateral lower extremity biomechanics during a double-leg jump landing were collected prior-to ACL injury(baseline)and after ACLR,rehabilitation,and return to physical activity(follow-up).Sixty-nine participants were included in this analysis:31 participants suffered an ACL injury since baseline:12 injured the leg tested at baseline[ACLR-injured leg(ACLR-iNJ),n=12]and 19 injured the leg that was not tested at baseline[ACLR-uninjured leg(ACLR-UNiNJ)n=19];38 participants served as matched ***-limb coordination-calculated as the mean coupling angle-between the hip and knee were measured in the respective leg of each defined group and compared amongst groups at baseline and *** We observed no significant change in sagittal or frontal plane inter-limb coordination amongst groups or across time(P>0.05).A significant decrease in inter-limb coordination in the transverse plane from baseline and follow-up was observed but limited to the ACLR-iNJ group(P=0.016).Conclusion The primary finding of this study is that inter-limb coordination between the hip and knee in the sagittal and frontal plane is unchanged by ACL injury and *** may help explain previous observations of changes in kinemat-ics at both the hip and knee in this *** observation of alterations in the transverse plane should be interpreted with caution,but may provide additional evidence for potential mechanisms that lead to the development of osteoarthritis in ACLR patients.

Effects of Andrade and Burgers rheologies on glacial isostatic adjustment modeling in Antarctica

Variations in ice mass deform the Earth and modify its gravity field,a process known as Glacial isostatic Adjustment(GiA).GiA in Antarctica remains poorly constrained due to the cumulative effect of past and present ice-mass changes,the unknown history of the past ice-mass change,and the uncertainties on the mechanical properties of the *** paper investigates the effect of using Andrade and Burgers viscoelastic rheologies,rather than the commonly used Maxwell rheology,to model GiA-induced deformation in *** Love number and Green's function formalism are used to compute the radial surface displacements and the gravity changes induced by the past and present ice-mass *** consider an Earth model whose elastic properties and radial structure are averaged from the Preliminary Reference Earth Model and two viscosity profiles to account for the recently published results on the present ice-mass *** the three rheological laws affects the temporal response of the Earth differently,leading to smaller discrepancies than those induced by the two viscosity *** differences are the largest between Maxwell and Burgers rheologies during the 100-1000 years following the beginning of the surface-mass *** show that using the Andrade and Burgers rheologies allows the Earth to respond on decennial to centennial time scales,up to 10 m more than *** only the recent ice-mass changes,the deformation rates derived from Burgers and Andrade rheologies are several times larger than those estimated by Maxwell rheology.

Bushfire-related building losses cause adverse economic impacts to countries prone to *** materials and components play a vital role in reducing these ***,due to high costs of experimental studies and lack of numerical studies,the heat transfer behavior of building’s external components in bushfire-prone areas has not been adequately *** large-scale heat transfer models are developed using Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)tools,and the availability of CFD models for heat transfer in building components improves the understanding of the behavior of systems and systems of ***,this paper uses a numerical modeling approach to investigate the bushfire/wildfire resistance of external Light gauge Steel Framed(LSF)wall *** full-scale and small-scale heat transfer models were developed for the LSF wall *** results of six internal and external LSF wall systems with varying plasterboard thickness and cladding material were used to validate the developed *** study was then extended to investigate the bushfire resistance of seven external wall systems under two different bushfire flame zone *** results illustrate the significant effects of fire curves,LSF wall components and configuration on the heat transfer across the *** have shown 1)the favorable performance of steel cladding and Autoclaved Aerated Concrete(AAC)panels when used on the external side of wall systems and 2)the adequacy of thin-walled steel studs’load-bearing capacity during bushfire *** study has shown that most of the investigated external LSF walls could be reused with cost-effective retrofitting such as replacing the Fire Side(FS)steel cladding after bushfire ***,this study has advanced the understanding of the behavior of external light steel framed walls under bushfire flame zone conditions.

Big data analytics has been widely adopted by large companies to achieve measurable benefits including increased profitability,customer demand forecasting,cheaper development of products,and improved stock *** and medium sized enterprises(SMEs)are the backbone of the global economy,comprising of 90%of businesses ***,only 10%SMEs have adopted big data analytics despite the competitive advantage they could *** research has analysed the barriers to adoption and a strategic framework has been developed to help SMEs adopt big data *** framework was converted into a scoring tool which has been applied to multiple case studies of SMEs in the *** paper documents the process of evaluating the framework based on the structured feedback from a focus group composed of experienced *** results of the evaluation are presented with a discussion on the results,and the paper concludes with recommendations to improve the scoring tool based on the proposed *** research demonstrates that this positioning tool is beneficial for SMEs to achieve competitive advantages by increasing the application of business intelligence and big data analytics.

AiM:To describe the gonioscopic profile and intraocular pressure(iOP)in primary angle-closure(PAC)disease in patients presenting to a tertiary eye care network in ***:A cross-sectional hospital-based study that included 31484 new patients presenting between 2011 and *** with a clinical diagnosis of PAC/suspect/glaucoma were *** data was collected from an electronic medical record ***:PAC glaucoma(PACG)(47.55%)was the most common diagnosis followed by PAC(39.49%)and PAC suspect(PACS;12.96%).Female preponderance(54.6%)was noted with higher mean age at presentation among males(Pighest prevalence in 6th decade but PACG was higher at 7th *** probability of angle opening was 95.93%,90.32%and 63.36%in PACS,PAC and PACG eyes respectively post peripheral iridotomy(Pi).Plateau iris syndrome(PiS)was noted in 252 eyes and all showed post dilated rise of iOP.A post dilated iOP rise was also noted with 8.86%,33.95%and 57.19%eyes with PACS,PAC and PACG respectively with iOP rise between 6-8 mm Hg across the disease ***:The superior quadrant is the narrowest angle and difficult to open with indentation and post *** probability of angle opening is less in PiS especially the complete variety along with post dilated iOP *** post dilated iOP rise in angle closure eyes warrants a careful dilatation,especially with PiS.

Studies related to the prediction of post-hepatectomy liver failure(PHLF)have seen a surge in recent literature.A PubMed search using the terms((“pred*”OR“nomogra*”OR“model*”)AND(“mortality”OR“liver failure”OR“PHLF”)AND(“hepatect*”OR“liver resect*”))revealed 29 relevant studies on PHLF prediction between January 2020 and November 2023,with 20 adhering to grade B/C international Study Group of Liver Surgery(iSGLS)definitions(Table 1).These studies are primarily enrolling patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).This underscores the growing interest in applying such predictive scores in routine clinical ***,the extent to which these predictive models can be effectively implemented in clinical settings remains unclear(21,22).indeed,all studies are retrospective,and only a limited number underwent external *** is crucial to recognize that these scores predominantly emerge within surgical cohorts,where patients underwent prior meticulous selection,leading to tailored surgical strategies and the exclusion of specific candidates(21).
