Linking 24-h Movement Behavior guidelines to Cognitive Difficulties,Internalizing and Externalizing Problems in Preterm Youth

Background:given the heightened risk of developmental challenges associated with preterm birth,it is crucial to explore interventions that may ameliorate potential adverse *** study aimed to examine whether meeting the 24-h movement behavior(24-HMB)guidelines,which include recommendations on physical activity(PA),screen time(ST),and sleep(SL),is related to indicators of cognitive difficulties,internalizing problems(e.g.,depression and anxiety),and externalizing problems(e.g.,difficulties in making friends and arguing)in a sample of preterm youth(children and adolescents born preterm).Methods:In this cross-sectional study,data from 3410 preterm youth(aged 6 to 17 years)were included for data *** logistic regression was used to investigate associations between meeting the 24-HMB guidelines and the above-mentioned health outcomes,while controlling for sociodemographic and health-related ***:The prevalence of meeting 24-HMB guidelines varied across independent and integrated components of the 24-HMB *** the ST guideline alone(pgrated guidelines(i.e.,ST+SL and ST+SL+PA)were associated with fewer cognitive difficulties and reduced internalizing and externalizing problems(pg the SL guideline alone and integrated guidelines(i.e.,SL+ST)were associated with lower odds of depression and anxiety(pg independent,and integrated(PA and/or ST)guidelines were associated with less pronounced difficulties in making friends and arguing(pg 24-HMB guidelines in an isolated and integrated manner are linked to better cognitive performance and fewer internalizing and externalizing problems in preterm ***:Results suggest that advocating for the implementation of the 24-HMB guidelines may reduce cognitive challenges and behavioral issues,which is of high relevance for improving public *** longitudinal studies in preterm youth should inves

Membrane desalination is an economical and energy-efficient method to meet the current worldwide water ***,state-of-the-art reverse osmosis membranes are gradually being replaced by novel membrane materials as a result of ongoing technological *** novel materials possess intrinsic pore structures or can be assembled to form lamellar membrane channels for selective transport of water or solutes(e.g.,NaCl).Still,in real applications,the results fall below the theoretical predictions,and a few properties,including large-scale fabrication,mechanical strength,and chemical stability,also have an impact on the overall effectiveness of those *** view of this,we develop a new evaluation framework in the form of radar charts with five dimensions(i.e.,water permeance,water/NaCl selectivity,membrane cost,scale of development,and stability)to assess the advantages,disadvantages,and potential of state-of-the-art and newly developed desalination *** this framework,the reported thin film nanocomposite membranes and membranes developed from novel materials were compared with the state-of-the-art thin film composite *** review will demonstrate the current advancements in novel membrane materials and bridge the gap between different desalination *** this review,we also point out the prospects and challenges of next-generation membranes for desalination *** believe that this comprehensive framework may be used as a future reference for designing next-generation desalination membranes and will encourage further research and development in the field of membrane technology,leading to new insights and advancements.

Relational characteristics and dynamics between high-tech firms in the Pearl River Delta and the empowerment for technological innovation by Hong Kong

The perfection of the cross-border regional innovation system of the Pearl River Delta(PRD) and Hong Kong remarkably underpins the construction of the guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao greater Bay Area(gBA) towards an international technological innovation *** paper focuses on the relational characteristics of the usage of technological innovation functions and elements, including labor force, technology, and producer services from Hong Kong by high-technology firms in the PRD, and probes into the influencing factors by integrating the objective perspective on the impact of firm-level socioeconomic attributes and subjective perspective on the open interpretations on the reasons by using or not using technological innovation functions and elements from Hong Kong by various stakeholders in high-technology domains in the PRD. Key research findings are fourfold. First, Hong Kong's technological innovation functions primarily ride on its institutional advantages under the “One Country, Two Systems” framework to empower high-technology firms in the PRD by expanding their international market, international business operation, and financing, but cross-border investment and entrepreneurship has retrieved to a relatively marginalized position. The degree of supply-demand relations of producer services is the highest, followed by labor force and ***, Hong Kong-invested, large-sized, and long-standing high-technology firms in the PRD are more inclined to use technological innovation elements from Hong Kong, while domestic,small-and-medium-sized, and start-up high-technology firms in the PRD are in turn, gradually unhooked from the supply of technological innovation elements from Hong Kong. Machine learning-based classification of rock discontinuity trace:SMOTE oversampling integrated with gBT ensemble learning

This paper presents a hybrid ensemble classifier combined synthetic minority oversampling technique(SMOTE),random search(RS)hyper-parameters optimization algorithm and gradient boosting tree(gBT)to achieve efficient and accurate rock trace identification.A thirteen-dimensional database consisting of basic,vector,and discontinuity features is established from image *** data points are classified as either‘‘trace”or‘‘non-trace”to divide the ultimate results into candidate trace *** is found that the SMOTE technology can effectively improve classification performance by recommending an optimized imbalance ratio of 1:5 to 1:***,sixteen classifiers generated from four basic machine learning(ML)models are applied for performance *** results reveal that the proposed RS-SMOTE-gBT classifier outperforms the other fifteen hybrid ML algorithms for both trace and nontrace ***,discussions on feature importance,generalization ability and classification error are conducted for the proposed *** experimental results indicate that more critical features affecting the trace classification are primarily from the discontinuity ***,cleaning up the sedimentary pumice and reducing the area of fractured rock contribute to improving the overall classification *** proposed method provides a new alternative approach for the identification of 3D rock trace.

This article provides a brief overview describing how two key signaling pathways, namely the integrated stress response and the mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1, work together to facilitate cellular adaptation to dietary amino acid insufficiency. A deeper understanding of these mechanisms is leading to identification of novel targets which aid in disease treatments, improve stress recovery and increase health span through slowed aging and enhanced metabolic fitness.

The problems associated with the subjective assessment of human sperm morphology have been well aired in another Asian Journal of Andrology Special Issue1 that marked the publication of the 5th edition of the WHO Semen analysis manual, and contrary views have subsequently been presented） However, the vagaries of the eye-brain system in assessing whether a sperm head is large or small can be eliminated by objective assessment where definitive structures are defined by their dimensions. These can then be classified automatically into as many categories as the data permit, conventionally on the basis of preset upper and lower limits, but also by more comprehensive analysis as discussed here.

A novel image-based approach for interactive characterization of rock fracture spacing in a tunnel face

This paper presents a novel integrated method for interactive characterization of fracture spacing in rock tunnel *** main procedure includes four steps:(1)Automatic extraction of fracture traces,(2)digitization of trace maps,(3)disconnection and grouping of traces,and(4)interactive measurement of fracture set spacing,total spacing,and surface rock quality designation(S-RQD)*** evaluate the performance of the proposed method,sample images were obtained by employing a photogrammetrybased scheme in tunnel *** were then conducted to determine the optimal parameter values(*** threshold,angle threshold,and number of fracture trace grouping)for characterizing rock fracture *** applying the identified optimal parameters involved in the model,the proposed method could lead to excellent qualitative results to a new tunnel *** perform a quantitative analysis,three methods(***,straightening,and the proposed method)were employed in the same study and comparisons were *** proposed method agrees well with the field measurement in terms of the maximum and average values of measured spacing ***,the proposed method has reasonably good accuracy and interactive advantage for estimating the ultimate fracture spacing and *** can be a possible extension of existing methods for fracture spacing characterization for two-dimensional(2D)rock tunnel faces.

Beyond the synucleinopathies:alpha synuclein as a driving force in neurodegenerative comorbidities

The fundamental role that alpha-synuclein(aSyn)plays in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative synucleinopathies,including Parkinson’s disease,dementia with Lewy bodies,and multiple system atrophy,is a well-accepted fact.A wealth of experimental evidence has linked this relatively small but ubiquitously expressed protein to a plethora of cytopathologic mechanisms and suggests that aSyn may be capable of seeding the progressive spread of synucleinopathy throughout the *** the synucleinopathies,the abnormal deposition of aSyn is frequently seen in a variety of other neurodegenerative proteinopathies including Alzheimer’s *** spite of the fact that the frequency of concomitant aSyn pathology in these disorders is such that it can be considered the rule rather than the exception,the potential role that aSyn may have in these disorders has received relatively little *** this article we postulate that aSyn may in fact be a key protein in driving the pathogenic processes in neurodegenerative *** addition to reviewing the frequency of concomitant deposition of aSyn in the neurodegenerative proteinopathies,we also consider our current understanding of the interaction of aSyn with other neurodegenerative disease-associated proteins,including tau,TDP-43,amyloid-βand prion protein,in the context of neuropathologic studies describing the anatomical sites of potential concomitant *** conclude that a growing body of evidence,encompassing neuropathology studies in human brain,animal models of concomitant proteinopathies and studies employing sophisticated methods of probing protein-protein interaction,cumulatively suggest that aSyn is well positioned to exert a strong influence on the pathogenesis of the neurodegenerative *** hope to stimulate research in this emerging field and consider that future studies exploring the contribution of aSyn to the pathogenic processes in neurodegenerative comorbidities may provide critical

At a time of unprecedented need and despite significant advances in understanding brain function and related diseases,the drug pipeline for treatment of mental ill-health is failing[1,2].The reasons are many,including the unparalleled complexity of the central nervous system(CNS)itself,a lack of interdisciplinary research collaborations,increased drug development costs,and higher risk of clinical failure of CNS drugs compared with other areas of drug development[3–6].It is now widely recognized that individual dimensions of mental ill health arise from altered neural processes within specific brain circuits that may be shared across diagnostic categories[7,8].The inclusion of cognitive and social processes is particularly appropriate because cognitive dysfunction is of paramount importance to the understanding and treatment of many psychiatric disorders[9].This issue is further compounded by the lack of adequate medication to reverse cognitive and social *** respect to neurodevelopmental disorders that give rise to early onset of a spectrum of symptoms related to schizophrenia,attention deficit hyperactivity disorder,autism spectrum disorders(ASD)to name but a few,the need to discover effective treatment options is particularly urgent.
