Testin. will reduc. tran.mission.an. provide ac.ess to preven.ive servic.s. Objec.ive: To assess the kn.wledge, attitude an. prevalen.0} of HIV c.un.ellin. an. Testin. amon. sec.n.ary in.sc.ool adolesc.n.s in.Orlu Loc.l Govern.en. Area, Imo State, n.geria. Methods: A c.oss sec.ion.l an.lytic.l study design.was used that selec.ed studen.s aged 13 - 19 years in.sen.or c.asses SS1 to SS3 atten.in. sec.n.ary sc.ools. Data was c.llec.ed usin. a pretested, semi-struc.ured question.aire. Desc.iptive an.lyses were don. with frequen.0}es an. summary statistic.. c.i square statistic.was c.mputed an. p value was set at 0.05 sign.fic.n. level. Results: Though most of the respon.en.s were aware of HIV/AIDS (99%) an. HIV c.un.ellin. an. Testin. (92%), the majority of the respon.en.s had a poor level of overall kn.wledge (61%) an. attitude (70%) towards HIV c.un.ellin. an. Testin.. The prevalen.0} of HIV c.un.ellin. an. Testin. amon.st the respon.en.s was very low (7%). Furthermore, there was a statistic.lly sign.fic.n. relation.hip between.the level of overall kn.wledge an. level of overall attitude towards HIV c.un.ellin. an. Testin. (p c.n.0}usion. Iden.ifyin. an. c.osin. the gaps in.their kn.wledge an. attitude towards HIV c.un.ellin. an. Testin., will form the basis for the in.roduc.ion.of adolesc.n.-tailored strategies that will further en.0}urage an. improve volun.ary an. c.n.iden.ial uptake of HIV c.un.ellin. an. Bac.groun.: Food ven.ors play a c.itic.l food safety role in.the “farm to plate” c.n.in.um that is n.c.ssary for the preven.ion.an. c.n.rol of food born. diseases an. therefore, an. lac. of its un.erstan.in. by the food ven.ors poses a serious c.allen.e to food safety. Objec.ive: To assess the kn.wledge, attitude an. hygien.c.prac.ic.s of food ven.ors in.Owerri town.of Imo State, n.geria. Methods: The study was a c.oss-Sec.ion.l desc.iptive design.that used a proportion.te c.n.en.en.0} samplin. tec.n.que to selec. 200 food ven.ors from the three Loc.l Govern.en. Areas (LGAs) in.Owerri town. Data were c.llec.ed usin. a pretested semi-struc.ured in.erviewer admin.stered question.aire. Desc.iptive an.lyses were don. with frequen.0}es an. summary statistic.. c.i square statistic. were c.mputed to determin. sign.fic.n. relation.hips an. p value was set at 0.05 sign.fic.n. level. Results: While a majority of the respon.en.s had a good level of kn.wledge (81%) an. positive attitude (71%) about food hygien., on.y 37% of the respon.en.s had a good level of hygien.c.prac.ic.. It was revealed that 32% an. 46% of the respon.en.s rec.ived train.n. on.food hygien. an. en.iron.en.al health worker in.pec.ion.respec.ively. It was also revealed that, there were statistic.lly sign.fic.n. relation.hips between.kn.wledge (p = 0.001), attitude (p = 0.000), formal train.n. on.food hygien. (p = 0.000) an. the level of food hygien.c.prac.ic.s. c.n.0}usion. The public.health man.gemen. of food ven.in. servic.s should in.olve the developmen. of strategies that will equip them with the n.c.ssary kn.wledge an. skills to provide ven.in. servic.s in.a hygien.c.an. safe man.er.

Objec.ive: To determin. the breastfeedin. prac.ic.s an. the soc.odemographic.determin.n.s of exc.usive breastfeedin. amon.st n.rsin. mothers presen. at the Imo state un.versity teac.in. hospital Orlu. Methods: A c.oss sec.ion.l an.lytic.l study design.was used that in.0}uded all n.rsin. mothers presen. within.a 4 week study period. Data was c.llec.ed usin. a struc.ured question.aire. Desc.iptive an.lyses were don. with frequen.0}es an. summary statistic.. c.i square statistic. were c.mputed to determin. sign.fic.n. assoc.ation. an. bin.ry logistic.regression.was used to determin. soc.odemographic.predic.ors of exc.usive breastfeedin. prac.ic.. P value was set at 0.05 sign.fic.n. level. Results: While most of the respon.en.s were aware of exc.usive breastfeedin. (92.5%), on.y 24% of the respon.en.s were prac.ic.n. exc.usive breastfeedin.. Work an. sc.ool ac.ivities, an. the feelin. that breast milk was in.uffic.en. for the n.eds of the baby were the reason. for n.t prac.ic.n. exc.usive breastfeedin. for a majority of the respon.en.s (56.6%). Furthermore, 61% of those that were prac.ic.n. n.n.exc.usive breast feedin. gave a c.real or in.an. formula in.addition.to the breast milk for 3 to 6 mon.hs. It was further revealed that there were statistic.lly sign.fic.n. relation.hips between.breastfeedin. prac.ic. an. matern.l age (p = 0.003), level of matern.l educ.tion.(p = 0.005) an. matern.l oc.upation.(p = 0.006). c.n.0}usion. Objec.ive: To determin. Kn.wledge, Attitude an. Prac.ic.s of En.iron.en.al San.tation.in.Semi-Urban.c.mmun.ties in.Orlu, Imo State, n.geria. Methods: A c.oss sec.ion.l desc.iptive design.usin. a multistage ran.om samplin. tec.n.que to selec. 426 partic.pan.s from households an. busin.ss premises in.semi-urban.c.mmun.ties in.Orlu Loc.l Govern.en. Area of Imo State. Data was c.llec.ed usin. a pretested, semi struc.ured, in.erviewer admin.stered question.aire. Desc.iptive an.lyses were don. with frequen.0}es an. summary statistic. to assess the respon.en.s’ kn.wledge, attitude an. prac.ic.s of en.iron.en.al san.tation. Results: The results revealed that the mean.age of the respon.en.s’ was 37.0 ± 2.2 with a male to female ratio of 1:1.2. Despite high awaren.ss about en.iron.en.al san.tation.(95.0%) reported amon. the respon.en.s, proportion.of them with good kn.wledge about en.iron.en.al san.tation.(22.9%), attitude (38.6%) an. prac.ic. (20.8%) towards en.iron.en.al san.tation.was low. The mean.quan.ity of waste gen.rated per week per household or busin.ss premise was 14.1 ± 0.94 kg with a majority of the respon.en.s (80.0%), n.t separatin. their waste before disposal. The c.mmon.st solid waste c.mpon.n. gen.rated was organ.c.perishable materials (74.8%) an. the c.mmon.st disposal prac.ic. reported was open.dumpin. (49.8%). c.n.0}usion. A lot of atten.ion.is still required in.the developmen. of basic.san.tation.in.rastruc.ure an. also, in.the promotion.of strategies or in.erven.ion. that in.luen.0} behavioural c.an.e towards en.iron.en.al san.tation.espec.ally in.developin. c.un.ries like n.geria.
