Argania spinosa L. （Sapotaceae family）, endemic to Morocco, is a multipurpose tree with an important ecological and socio-economical interest. Nevertheless, the sustainability of the agro-forestry system is now threatened by overgrazing and over-exploitation leading to an alarming decline in the number of trees. In the present study, inter-simple sequence repeats （ISSR） markers were used to evaluate the genetic variation and to assess the genetic diversity distribution within and among 17 argan populations growing naturally under semi-arid and arid climate. Thus, a total of seven primers generated 260 well-defined bands, with an average of 37.14 bands per primer. Studied populations showed a relatively high level of genetic diversity at species level and low level of genetic diversity at population level. The percentage of polymorphic bands, Nei＇s gene diversity and Shannon＇s information index at population and species level were 30.15%, 0.164, 0.217 and 98.8%, 0.172, 0.293, respectively. A relative low level of genetic differentiation （Gst = 0.39） was in agreement with the results obtained from the analysis of molecular variance （AMOVA）. Estimated gene flow was Nm = 0.781 among populations. Mantel test revealed a non-significant correlation between genetic and geographic distance （r = 0.065, P 〈 0.05）, suggesting that the geographic distribution is not the major factor that shaped the present population genetic structure. The results can help preserve A. spinosa L. tree as an endangered species, however, refining these finding using co-dominant markers is recommended in order to establish conservation strategies.

Concordance of HER-2/Neu over Expression with Steroid Receptor Status in Female Breast Cancers

HER-2/neu over expression is associated with increased tumor aggressiveness, increased rates of recurrence, and increased mortality in node positive patients. It is amplified and/or over expressed in approximately 30% of female breast cancers. This study was to detect the relation between HER-2/neu over expression and steroid hormone receptor status. It was conducted at Cairo and Bani Suif university hospitals between February 2012 to February 2014. HER-2/neu over expression was found to be positive in thirteen patients (41%) out of the thirty two patients included in the study, more positive (52%) HER-2/neu was found among estrogen receptor (ER) positive patients, on the other hand, only 18% positive HER-2/neu was detected among ER negative patients. This difference was statistically significant (P < 0.03). The same outcome was with progesterone receptors (PR) and HER-2/neu with statistically significant difference also (P = 0.02). Conclusion: HER-2/neu over expression is strongly related to ER and PR, this was more evident in negative steroid receptors status. The failure of treatment in positive steroid receptors could be explained by HER-2/neu positivity.

我们用systematic review和Meta-analysis来评估增加饮食中ω-3,ω-6及混合多不饱和脂肪酸(PUFA)对肌肉骨骼健康、功能状态、肌肉减少症和骨折风险的影响。我们搜索了Medline和Embase,Cochrane图书馆、***和WHO国际临床试验注册平台(ICTRP)数据库中评估高剂量对比低剂量口服ω-3,ω-6或混合PUFA≥6个月对肌肉骨骼和功能影响结果的成人随机对照试验(RCTs)。我们纳入了28项随机对照试验(7288名参与者,31次比较),其中23项报告了ω-3的作用、1项报告了ω-6的作用、4项报告了混合总PUFA的作用。参与者和剂量是多样性的。6个ω-3试验被判断为总体偏倚风险较低。我们发现低质量的证据表明,增加ω-3摄入可增加2.6%的腰椎骨密度(0.03 g/cm,95%CI:0.02～0.07,463名参与者)。也有提示股骨颈BMD增加(4.1%),但证据质量很低。ω-3可能对功能性结果和骨量几乎没有影响;对其他结果的影响尚不清楚。只有一项研究报告了ω-6的作用,但数据非常有限。增加总PUFA对骨密度或无脂(骨骼肌)肌肉质量指数影。响很小或没有影响(低质量证据);没有关于骨折、骨密度或功能状态的数据,关于骨转换标志物的数据有限。评估增加ω-3,ω-6和总PUEA对功能状态、骨骼和骨骼肌强度影响的试验是有限的,缺乏数据或质量较差。虽然有迹象表明ω-3可能改善骨密度,但需要高质量的随机对照试验来证实这一点和对其他肌肉骨骼结果的影响。

Background: Early excision and grafting has been the preferred method of managing major burns around the world since 1970. Considering the advances in health care and the development of new antibiotics over the past 50 years, delayed grafting as a technique for the management of burns over 15%-20% of total body surface area (TBSA) could have comparable results to that of early excision. This study aims to highlight the outcomes of practicing delayed grafting in burn patients. Methods: A case series analysis was performed of 51 patients who were admitted to the burns unit in Sultan Qaboos Hospital Salalah with over 20% TBSA between January 2014 and December 2019. The patients received prophylactic antibiotics and silver sulphadiazine dressing until the burn eschar had completely separated, followed by grafting. Results: Two patients were lost during the entire duration of the study. The mortality rate was comparable to that of early excision, while the rate of hypertrophic scarring was lower than the range reported by other studies. Conclusion: In the management of patients with over 20% TBSA, delayed grafting after complete separation of eschar is still a valid technique.
