Role of polymorphisms in genes that encode cytokines and Helicobacter pylori virulence factors in gastric carcinogenesis

The Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) infection is a determinant factor in gastric cancer(GC) development. However, the infection outcomes are variable and depend on both host and bacterial characteristics. Some host cytokines such as interleukin(IL)-1β, IL-1 Ra, IL-8, IL-10 and tumor necrosis factor-α play important roles in the host immune system response to the pathogen, in the development of gastric mucosal lesions and in cell malignant transformation. Therefore, these host factors are crucial in neoplastic processes. Certain polymorphisms in genes that encode these cytokines have been associated with an increased risk of GC. On the other hand, various virulence factors found in distinct H. pylori bacterial strains, including cytotoxinassociated antigen A, vacuolating cytotoxin, duodenal ulcer promoting gene A protein, outer inflammatory protein and blood group antigen binding adhesin, have been associated with the pathogenesis of different gastric diseases. The virulent factors mentioned above allow the successful infection by the bacterium and play crucial roles in gastric mucosa lesions, including malignant transformation. Moreover, the role of host polymorphisms and bacterial virulence factors in gastric carcinogenesis seems to vary among different countries and populations. The identification of host and bacterium factors that are associated with an increased risk of GC development may be useful in determining the prognosis of infection in patients, what could help in clinical decision-making and in providing of an optimized clinical approach.

With the widespread of cross-sectional imaging, a growth of incidentally detected focal liver lesions(fLL) has been observed. A reliable detection and characterization of fLL is critical for optimal patient management. Maximizing accuracy of imaging in the context of fLL is paramount in avoiding unnecessary biopsies, which may result in post-procedural complications. A tremendous development of new imaging techniques has taken place during these last years. Nowadays, Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) plays a key role in management of liver lesions, using a radiation-free technique and a safe contrast agent profile. MRI plays a key role in the non-invasive correct characterization of fLL. MRI is capable of providing comprehensive and highly accurate diagnostic information, with the additional advantage of lack of harmful ionizing radiation. These properties make MRI the mainstay for the noninvasive evaluation of focal liver lesions. In this paper we review the state-of-the-art MRI liver protocol, briefly discussing different sequence types, the unique characteristics of imaging non-cooperative patients and discuss the role of hepatocyte-specific contrast agents. A review of the imaging features of the most common benign and malignant fLL is presented, supplemented by a schematic representation of a simplistic practical approach on MRI.

开发了一个具有4个控制面的主动控制软管锥套的动态模型,以减轻头波效应和紊流在对接阶段对空气动力干扰。使用数值模拟计算了软管锥套的空气动力特性,并使用线性和多项式函数进行简化。利用空气动力模型设计了一个线性二次调节器(Linear quadratic regulator,LQR)控制器。使用MATLAB/Simulink构建了一个软管锥套模型,并验证了主动控制软管锥套在减少干扰效应方面的效力。还使用静态模型研究了控制面偏转角对软管悬挂曲线的影响。数值模拟结果表明,主动控制软管锥套降低了头波效应和紊流的干扰影响,提高了软管锥套系统的稳定性和空中加油的成功率。

Nodal segments from secondary branches of saplings of Phyllostachys bambusoides were inoculated in MS medium to assess the in vitro morphogenic response of leaf sheath through the induction to callogenesis by Picloram（4-amino-3,5,6-trichloropicolinic acid） at different concentrations of carbohydrate under the same conditions with presence or absence of *** our experiment,secondary explants were kept in MS medium containing 8.0 mg·L-1 of Picloram for the callus *** were transferred in MS medium supplemented with sucrose,fructose and glucose（control,2%,4% and 6%）.Results show that Picloram induced the callogenesis in leaf *** secondary embryogenesis was formed in yellow-globular *** sucrose as carbohydrate source in the absence of light was more efficient to induce *** was more efficiency in the presence of *** induction and further embryogenesis evidenced the competence and determination of leaf sheath cells.

The growth of internationalization of higher education, both in developed and in emergent countries is a result ofglobalization. In spite of the growing literature on higher education, results from the process of internationalization,its benefits and risks, have not been widely discussed. Studies of different internationalization strategies andcomparative analysis are also scarce. This paper contributes, on the one hand, towards, a reflexion on those topicsby reviewing literature on the evolution of strategies and suggesting guidelines for a national strategy for HigherEducation （HE）; on the other hand, by analysing recent data, compares the scope of high educationinternationalization among European and other countries. There has been an evolution from mobility of studentsand staff towards transnationalization of courses and services/products from higher education institution （HEI）.Global surveys point to different approaches to internationalization and different results and perceptions. The viewthat internationalization is a condition for high performance of higher education institutions and nationalcompetitiveness does not appear to be clearly supported by evidence.

The liver is commonly affected by metastatic ***,it is essential to detect and characterize liver metastases,assuming that patient management and prognosis rely on *** imaging techniques that allow non-invasive assessment of liver metastases include ultrasonography,computed tomography(CT),magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),positron emission tomography(PET)/CT,and PET/*** this paper,we review the imaging findings of liver metastases,focusing on each imaging modality’s advantages and potential *** also assess the importance of different imaging modalities for the management,follow-up,and therapy response of liver *** date,both CT and MRI are the most appropriate imaging methods for initial lesion detection,follow-up,and assessment of treatment *** MRI is frequently used as a problem-solving technique for liver lesions and has evolved substantially over the past decade,including hardware and software developments and specific intravenous contrast *** studies have shown that MRI performs better in small-sized metastases and moderate to severe liver steatosis *** state-of-the-art MRI shows a greater sensitivity for detecting and characterizing liver metastases,CT remains the chosen *** also present the controversial subject of the"economic implication"to use CT over MRI.

Mechanical properties characterization of different types of masonry infill walls

It is remarkable,the recent advances concerning the development of numerical modeling frameworks to simulate the infill panels'seismic ***,there is a lack of experimental data of their mechanical properties,which are of full importance to calibrate the numerical *** primary objective of this paper is to present an extensive experimental campaign of mechanical characterization tests of infill masonry walls made with three different types of masonry units:lightweight vertical hollow concrete blocks and hollow clay *** different types of experimental tests were carried out,namely:compression strength tests,diagonal tensile strength tests,and flexural strength tests parallel and perpendicular to the horizontal bed joints.A total amount of 80 tests were carried out and are reported in the present *** second objective of this study was to compare the mechanical properties of as-built and existing infill *** results presented and discussed herein,will be in terms of strain-stress curves and damages observed within the *** was observed a fragile behavior in the panels made with hollow clay horizontal bricks,without propagation of *** plaster increased the flexural strength by 57%.
